Kaylamh replied to JersSlimDown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had duodenal switch surgery, which involves a sleeve along with A malabsorption component. -
Any college students?
Kaylamh replied to JersSlimDown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can we be friends? Hahaha I'm heading into my junior year at North Carolina State University studying to teach secondary English. I live close to campus, and I'm almost 4 weeks out from surgery. School starts back monday! (If we don't get some nasty snow) -
I'm gonna try the boxed water...haha

Question about Drains & Foley's
Kaylamh replied to TheRevisionedVagabond's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a foley and I didn't even feel it really. They put it in when I was asleep, and took it out the morning after surgery when I was still groggy. It made me feel like I had to feel but it didn't hurt. It didn't hurt coming out either. -
@@RaptorWitch I'm originally from Sanford, aka 40 minutes south of Raleigh hahaha

You FEEL like you could eat pizza, but let me tell you you can't hahahaha. My eyes are bigger than my stomach, so I'm the same way. I always think I can eat more than I actually can. Try to spread four ounces over an hour. That's what I was told to do during the liquid phase.

I use the Dannon Oikos triple zero and I love it. 15g of protein and 6g of sugar I believe
-
I use a ninja. I purée pretty much anything as long as it is moist. A lot of people purée chili, chicken salad, beans etc.

Raleigh NC!

I used vanilla in my coffee at the beginning, but now I have enough room in my stomach to use milk and Splenda, while still having a shake and getting my protein in.

More looks and attention?
Kaylamh replied to JonteRaynal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My boyfriend make comments all the time (not that he didn't before) but it makes me feel nice when he says things like "you're getting so much smaller" when he hugs me. We had a great physical relationship before, but he seems to pay even more attention to me now! Haha I get comments from the girls at work, and people at church. It's super nice when people notice! -
Honestly the pre-op diet was miserable anyway, so the last meal was worth it haha
-
I had a huge crying fit alone in my hospital bed because I couldn't reach my phone and I was strapped to wires. I was fine right before and after. The mood swing struggle is real. I asked about it and was told the same thing about hormones haha
-
I was told that DS patients can malabsorb fat, so super high fat foods (i.e. Fried, greasy etc) aren't super good and can cause loose bowels. I have found that healthy fats have been great for keeping me insides feeling the way they should haha

My post op diet was 2 weeks in each phase, but advancing a day or two early is allowed upon checking in with the doctor and or the nutritionist. Everyone has different plans, but following them is super important!

I had a stall between week 2 and 3.

Tmi Warning: I Am As Horny As A Toad!
Kaylamh replied to CJ_Redux's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There's so much talk about this is the Powder Room forum. It's pretty common!!! -
I had a 30 minute crying spell in the hospital the day after surgery. I've been moody as heck since surgery. Some of it was exhaustion, and just changes in my body, but a lot of it is the estrogen that my body was releasing from the fat loss. I asked my doctor about it, and was told it was normal. Maybe call the doctor and see what they recommend.

When did you guys go back to work?
Kaylamh replied to cnewbodyreno's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 10 days. I work in retail, so being on my feet for 7 hours wasn't fun, but it wasn't awful either. -
So like, did you loose the good fat? lol ;)
Kaylamh replied to VivVsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost 32 pounds (3 weeks post) and still have the booty! I've gone down a band size and about half a cup size though :/ -
Letting go things I love
Kaylamh replied to Sunshine4247's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to encourage you by saying that the cravings get SO MUCH better after surgery. Honestly. You won't be giving up a glass of wine forever. My surgeon says that you can start incorporating alcohol back in at 6 mos, but they recommend waiting until you hit your goal. The food cravings really do go away. Ask yourself: is pizza really worth your health? There are really good pizza crust substitutes that you can make with cauliflower that taste great and satisfy the craving. There is always a way around cravings. You can do this! -
We went to The Melting Pot. I had never been and it was a super fun last meal! Started the next morning on pre-op liquids!
-
That happens sometimes. Try to make sure your foods are moist to avoid it getting stuck!

Ladies, what do you consider your ideal dress size ?
Kaylamh replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@OutsideMatchInside I can agree that probably wouldn't pay the prices if I didn't get the employee discount. I've noticed that the styles haven't been as good in the past year or so. I still really dig the jeans and the dresses. "Cute" is definitely a matter of opinion. I also find that everything looks better in person than it does online. And congrats! I can't remember being under a size 14, so the day I get to a 12 I'll probably cry haha. -

I'd like to be at a size 10, since that's the lowest size Torrid carries. (I work there and get a killer employee discount) but I really wouldn't mind being an 8 or 6.
