Hi! My name is Kayla, and I'm a 20 year old college student at North Carolina State University. Throughout my life, I had always struggled with weight related issues including PCOS, joint pain, and eating disorders. Despite my best efforts, and copious amounts of exercise, I was never able to lose the weight.
I found the practice I used through a friend who had a VSG about a year ago. I went to the informational session and knew that I wanted to go forward. My surgeon suggested the Duodenal Switch because of my age, and the longevity of the surgery. I was SCARED at first. I came in expecting to get a sleeve, and came out getting the most intense weight loss surgery available. I hopped on board, went to my classes and pre-op appointments, lost 10 pounds and headed for the operating room!
I had my surgery on 12/14/16. I spent one night in the hospital, and it was tough. The gas pain is bad, the incision pain sucks, but it has been SO worth it. I am incredibly thankful for the doors that my weight loss will open up for me, and I look forward walking through each one!
