I wondered that because I am definitely getting toned. The inches are melting off, I am getting toned, just the scale does not move. At the time I wrote this I dropped 2 more lbs. But now I am at a stall again. I,see my doc on the 13th and I hope I can get down 5 more lbs..... I am going into week 6. Some say weight starts to really move after week 6. Geesh I hope so. Thanks for posting this. I have been in a stall for 2 weeks now going on 3. I had my surgery on 7-21. I am losing a lot of inches but the scale doesn't move. Wondered if I needed to do just shakes and water. My doc appt isn't til the 13th. Thought of calling the nut. That eerie fear keeps creeping over me that this is all I will lose....scary. I stalled at 3 weeks. Gad my surgery on 7-21, then list 2lbs. ..now stalled again but the inches,are coming off! I lost 17 after surgery. Stuck at a total loss if 29lbs. Very happy but want the scale to move!! I thought for a few days this is it...but not getting discouraged!! Drink my water and meeting protein. It will go down!!!! I lost all respect for weight watchers ( and Oprah)when they let Oprah get on TV and say she eats bread everyday and loses weight. That was some dangerous info. You do not lose weight by stuffing your face with all things that are bad for your body no matter how many points you count. Personally I think that is a stupid way to change,eating habits. True weight loss success starts with learning what is in the food you are eating. Clean non processed whole foods, fruits, veggies, fish, seafood, chicken, meats, all with no preservatives are what fuels your body. Be an avid label reader. I am so obsessed on labels. Stay away from wheat products and refined sugars, eat when you are hungry and add intermittent fasting. No Oprah, you might be losing some pounds but I can bet they will be back with a vengeance in a few years. As much as Oprah wants to lose weight, she does not want to give up the comfort she gets with food or else shd would have had wls. I suspect she has a eating problem relating to internal issues. We have all been there. We know the demons of overeating. We have watched it ruin our health, lose our mobility,and even taken lives. We stood up and said, no more. Food will not rule our lives. We took control, we risked our lives with surgery to have a chance at a better and healthier life. And for that I applaud all of you in this journey. We stand proud to say, "no I don't need to eat bread and cookies everyday to be happy. I am proud of what I put in my body and how I care for it." I keep mine private too. Just my hubby and my niece who had the surgery know. My hubby has changed his eating habits as well. We both go to the same pcp. We say to people, " we gave a new pcp and she has us both on a strict program and wants us to lose weight. We are compliant because we both want to get into better health. So far I have lost 27lbs since Jan but no one noticed or said anything. I still gont know what I will say when confronted with a nasty remark like, "well you must have had weight loss surgery" depending on the tone of the remark, I may be nice or turn into a succubus and tear their head off.... I do know if I hear the " you took the easy way out " comment, I am coming unhinged, all bets are off and I will explode. ... I am stuck too..... i swim an hour every day and walk about 30 min. I am eating 700-800 calories, drink tons of water and get the protein. I am getting depressed, sleeved on 7-21, 16lbs lost. Keep thinking about reading the side effect of surgery, " you may not lose any weight"

I am on diretics, bumex 1.0mg 2x per day. Pkys potassium. Dr prescribed by my cardiologist, I have lymphedema and I retain a lot of water. I was afraid when I had surgery because they told me I would be cut in half, one a day ,not the day of surgery but when I went home. . Well when I came home the 2nd day, I called my cardiologist because I was not going to the bathroom like I needed to. I was drinking a lot and getting more and more swollen in my hands,and legs. I saud, I need my pills!!!! He said take them. I will talk to your surgeon. Call us if you need to and you dont get relief. I have been able to swallow all my pills with no problems so I went back on the twice a day and cut my potassium in half because it was big. Oh my the relief was wonderful! !!! I am still on my pills and when I see my cardiologist on Sept 11 he ordered blood work to make sure I am hydrated and my levels are ok. Hopefully when more weight comes off, I can cut back. Thank you and God Bless! I lost my kidney when I had pneumonia on 2011 that almost killed me. I have good function gor one kidney. The weight loss will help. I also drink green juice everyday thst we make and freeze. It has really helped! Plant based is the way to go. I am no longer diabetic since surgery 7/21, praise,Jesus! I did not read the book but started vegetable juicing 4 yrs ago. It really made a difference. Now since surgery we are juicing more. We do romaine lettuce, cilantro, lemon, green apple, celery, cucumber and ginger. I saw the movie "forks over knives" on netflix, and have my own copy. It's about the China study and Dr Edelstein. I have one kidney and cannot do alot of protein as well. I am going yo read the book because I believe in plant based to reverse disease, that's why we juice!

Have your husband go to the dr visits with you. During my 6 month pre-op bidits, it was very hard because I was losing a pound or two here and there. I was getting discouraged but my np saud, this is why you need surgety, it will be ok. My husband is my biggest cheerleader and this surgery does make a difference. It WILL happen, you will lose weight. I hope he decides to support you but if he doesn't, this community is wonderful. Here you will find the support and guidance.
