Approval letter
FindingCarrie replied to strengthin#ers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to call your insurance agency and ask them exactly what you need before scheduling your surgery. Mine does not require approval for the surgery, but it does require a pre-certification for the hospital stay. They said I will not get an approval letter for that. It is just for the hospital to submit, which I have confirmed that they have done. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
It truly is mind over matter. Your body really does not need more for this short time. You may feel like you are starving at times, but you can get through it. This is just a test of your will power at this point. If you feel yourself getting ready to cheat, just drink some Water, go for a walk, do ANYTHING to distract you. It does get better. Looking for Flavorless Protein Shake help!
FindingCarrie replied to Vee16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Info 8 oz of broth and mix one scoop of the powder with it while it is cool. I shake it in a shaker bottler so that it gets mixed really well. Then I pour it in to a coffee cup and heat it up. It makes he broth look kind of milky, but it really doesn't change the flavor of the broth all that much. If you add it after you heat the broth, you risk it clumping and getting gross when you try to mix it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Looking for Flavorless Protein Shake help!
FindingCarrie replied to Vee16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the unflavored Isopure. I could actually drink it with just Water, but I typically mix it with chicken or beef broth. I will try it with cottage cheese and other things once I move on to soft foods. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Regretting not having a good funeral
FindingCarrie replied to Jazzzyjay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the 17th also. I did not go crazy before the liquid pre-op diet, but I did have a good steak since it will be a LONG time before I will be able to eat that again! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

High Protein Clear Soups
FindingCarrie replied to ItchyFeet79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just use a chicken broth with Isopure unflavored Protein (25g). I mix it well in a Blender Bottle shaker while it is cold, and then I pour it in to a coffee cup and microwave it for a minute or so. The Protein Powder alters how the broth looks, but it doesn't really change the taste much at all. I have been on the liquid pre-op diet for 4 days now, and this is my favorite meal of the day. I had to pay $2000, and I paid it up front. They gave me a 10% discount for paying prior to the surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I use he Blender Bottle Go Stack, and I travel every week with my protein. They will sometimes take it out and look at it, but I never really had a problem. They work awesome! I have found them at GNC and The Vitamin Shoppe, or you can order from Amazon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
VSG and Piercings?
FindingCarrie replied to Detroit_25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is on 1/17, and I have been told that ALL piercings must be removed...no exceptions. Could be different at other hospitals, but this is their policy. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
My doctor requires a 1 week liquid diet for those under 50BMI. 50 and above have to do 2 weeks prior to surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

How Do You Meet Your Fluid Goals?
FindingCarrie replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
I love my S'well bottle! I think it even keeps my cold beverages cold for longer than 12 hours. I have 2 that are both 25 oz, and I fill them at 5am, and I finish drinking one in the early afternoon, but the other one is still cold when I am drinking it at 8pm at night. The are awesome! I use mine all of the time. I don't freeze zucchini or any squash, as I find it is too watery when you thaw it. I also think it changes the flavor slightly. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Protein powder recommendations
FindingCarrie replied to DreaMunoz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like the Quest Protein powders in chocolate and banana flavors. Quest does have a strange texture to it though, so if you can get past that, then the flavors are great. If you have a Vitamin Shoppe nearby, they sell single serve packets of several different brands of protein powders. Also, I have found that the pre-mixed Protein drinks typically taste better to me. Whether that be the Premiere Protein, or Muscle Milk, or any other pre-made version. I prefer the Premiere Protein over Muscle Milk. I don't have to start my liquids until next week because my doctor only requires 1 week, thankfully. Do you know your time yet? I should be finding mine out this week. i hope I am early in the morning so that I can just get it over with already! I can't believe we are only 2 weeks away!!! Confession: I drink soda. Anyone else?
FindingCarrie replied to ella37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My downfall was Diet Pepsi! After my first consultation with my surgeon I decided to cut out all caffeine, so there went my addiction to Diet Pepsi, coffee, etc... I figured it would be easier to get through the caffeine withdrawals before the surgery. One less thing to worry about during recovery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

For me, I think it has something to do with me having a caretaker personality. I always put everyone before myself, including my dogs apparently! Well no more! I am doing this surgery for me, and taking control of my life for once. It only took me 42 years to figure that out! [emoji2] -
Mine is on January 17 also! We will get through this!!! Fortunately, I only have to do 1 week of the pre-op diet. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

FindingCarrie replied to BrownEyedBeauty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think there is anything that can prepare us for this! No matter how much research I have done, I still don't feel prepared. At this point, it is an educated leap of faith! You will do great. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Mine only get people food on very rare occasions. I was thinking today how it is funny that I am so very careful about what they eat so they don't gain weight, but I have had no problem shoveling bad food choices in to my mouth regardless of the weight gain! I'm finally getting sleeved on January 30th ...
FindingCarrie replied to Brooklyn11205's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good luck! I am getting my sleeve on January 17, and I am so excited/anxious! My process moved really fast as well. My first consultation was on December 6, and now my surgery is just a little over a month after that. Like you, I have tried so many diets, or just eating healthy/clean, and I finally just made the decision that I had to do something that was going to work and help me maintain over the long run. I know this will not be an easy fix, but it will definitely be a strong tool to help me get healthier! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
