4 Days Post Op
FindingCarrie replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not hungry at all! I have to force myself to sip all day. I am so scared of getting dehydrated that I am really pushing myself to get my fluids in. It feels like a full time job! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Gaining weight after surgery
FindingCarrie replied to rachlou's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My surgery was 1/17/17, and I do not plan to weigh myself until 2/1/17. I want to get in the habit of weighing on the 1st of each month. I just don't want to become obsessed with weighing myself so frequently because I am hoping to avoid seeing stalls also. Plus, although the numbers do matter to me, I am really looking forward to watching the clothes sizes drop. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Surgery is on January 23
FindingCarrie replied to BubblesOhSoSleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stocked up on everything that I would need when I got home. I then proceeded to clean the house, wash the bed sheets, and all of that stuff I either won't feel like, or won't be able to do for a while after surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
4 days post op-No bowel movements

Miralax is what my doctor suggested. 9 hours ago I had posted in this thread that I had not gone yet, and finally, just now, I finally did! YAY! Sweet relief!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
The women's Multivitamin tastes like orange Tang. Not bad at all. The bariatric Vitamin does not taste as good. It has more of the liquid vitamin taste to it, but not nearly as bad as other liquid Vitamins I have tried in the past. Actually, I don't think it has a bad taste. It is actually the aftertaste that bothers me most, but it isn't unbearable. Plus I much prefer liquid vitamins over pills or gummies because the liquid doesn't have any fillers. Last night I had attack of the gas. The gas in my shoulders has gone away, but my stomach and intestines were gurgling all night. So bad that I though that my stomach was going to explode. I was so bloated that I looked like I was pregnant. I have been using the Gas X strips, and that has helped tremendously! I am also mixing Miralax every day mixed in with my first Protein shake off the day. I still have pain, but it is not as bad as it was 2 days ago. I almost didn't even take my pain meds today, but I figured why should I suffer. That being said, I think I might not need the pain meds after tomorrow. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I have one and I love it!!! I have the women's multi Vitamin, and the bariatric vitamin. The dispenser is kind of expensive, but I do like how it works. Your other option is to just buy the vitamin discs, with the to go lids, and you can mix it yourself in a small glass. That way you can test them before committing to the expensive dispenser. On a side note, their customer service is phenomenal! I can't say enough good thing about the product and the company! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I am 3 days post op also, and days 1 & 2 were tough.today was much better. I have not cried at all, or even been really emotional at all. Come to think of, the back pain that I normally have had not bothered me since surgery. The pain I do have in my shoulders was gas pain, and it has already gone almost completely. Walking has really helped with that pain. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

2 Days Post Op - All the details of surgery day...that I can remember anyways
FindingCarrie replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had any. Did you drink caffeine prior to surgery? I cut out all caffeine about 6 weeks prior to surgery because I didn't want to be trying to heal and go through caffeine withdrawals at the same time. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

@"ResilientMaria", I think the only thing that has gotten rid of the gas for me is really just walking as much as possible. It really does help. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

It could be muscle spasms. My doctor prescribed Levsin for this, and it works fabulously. If I start to get that feeling I take one Levsin. I was also prescribed Protonix, which is supposed to help with GERD, and can help reduce that feeling of hunger. I have not been hungry at all since surgery day, and I have had to force myself to drink Water and Protein throughout the day. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
My surgery was on Tuesday, and I had second thoughts, even as they were rolling me back to the OR. I kept worrying about all of the possible bad outcomes. I am not far enough out to say that everything is great and it is the best decision of my life yet, but I can say that I have had no complications at all. Even last night, I was thinking, "what the hell did I do to myself?" I have had lots of gas pains mostly, and a lot of discomfort. That being said, I was doing so well that they sent me home a day earlier than was expected. Just remember that when people are posting bad experiences it is typically because they are in that less than 2% complication group of people who experience complications. The other 98% are not having any issues at all, so they are not writing in this forum asking what they should do because everything is going well. The one thing I can say about reading all of those posts about things going wrong is that I was prepared for just about anything. Had I not done the research I did pre-op, I think my recovery would have been much tougher. At least I knew what to expect, which made it easier to deal with what I was feeling each step of the recovery so far. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I thought that I would have a leak test also, but they said they did it in the OR, so I never had one while I as awake. I was only allowed ice chips the first night. When I woke up the morning after they were still bringing me ice chips, and they also started to bring me Water, and told me to get down 40oz as my goal.I am already getting in 64oz of liquids. away. I remember waking up in my hospital room. You have an amazing memory. I certainly don't remember all of the details, because my husband was asking me if I remembered this conversation or that conversation, and I had no memory of those things. I just remember kissing him goodbye before I went in to the OR, and them strapping my arms down. Then I vaguely remember waking up in recovery, but my first clear memory post-op, was when they rolled me in to my room, and my husband walked in. I was in an out of sleep all night, but I know I was up and walking fairly quickly. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Thank you ladygg1967! Had I not done a lot of research prior to going in, I think the whole experience would have been more difficult. At least I was expecting everything that I am feeling. It doesn't make it any less painful, but at least I know it is normal, and nothing to be concerned about. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I had a vein stripping surgery in 2006, and formed 2 large blood clots a week after surgery. I was also placed on blood thinners for 6 months. I am now off of all of that, and the filter was removed when I finished my 6 month course of blood thinners. I can tell you that I did not have any pain with it, and there was no pain when they removed. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Officially Post Op!
FindingCarrie replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not too much pain at all. I think by tomorrow or Thursday I will be feeling pretty good. They also did a hernia repair and they said it was much bigger than they originally thought was from the EGD. So, I was on the table a little while longer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

The gas pain is the worst, but totally manageable. The bigger incision on my right where they took the stomach out is tender, but not super painful. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Looking for Flavorless Protein Shake help!
FindingCarrie replied to Vee16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doxaholic I am pre op. My surgery is tomorrow. I won't be able to do this after surgery, but I can mix it using the whole scoop and heat up my oz portions and refrigerate the rest to be warmed up later. As long as you drink it all be the end of the day, you will get 25g of Protein from the one scoop, even if you have to break it up over multiple meals. Surgery tomorrow
FindingCarrie replied to ruthkatniss38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is tomorrow also, and I have been sleeping okay, but I think tonight may be tough. At least I know I will be knocked out by tomorrow night and sleeping like a baby with all of the meds I will be on. Can't wait to just be on the other side of this so I can stop obsessing, worrying, etc...about it, and start to focus on recovering and my new life. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
