Body Measurements
FindingCarrie replied to RJrocks's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@"RJrocks", I had to use the computer version to add measurements to track. You can't add them on the app. However, once you add them on the website, you will see them on the app. -
Protein 4 Weeks Post Op
FindingCarrie replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@"ResilientMaria", yes, liquids are like a full time job trying to get them all In by the end of each day. -
I just wanted to share that I am able to reach my daily protein goals by eating ALL REAL FOOD! No more shakes for me! Once I was able to start eating chicken, that did it for me. I still have some shakes at home for when I may need them, but hopefully, I am past the shake phase, and I can just eat real food for good now! [emoji2]

8 Days Post Op
FindingCarrie replied to awesomely me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could drink just fine from day 2 Post op. I was worried that I wasn't going to have any restriction. I felt it as soon as I started soft food. Cottage cheese was the first soft food I tried and felt it right away. I could only fit 2 oz -
Feeling Hungry
FindingCarrie replied to Lenamarie301's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How many grams of protein do you eat each day? Are you drinking enough water. -
I am eating cooked veggies, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts, beans, eggs, fish and shrimp. So far, I have tolerated everything well. Baked sweet potatoes are a good think to try, as they cook up nice and soft. Eggs are good to try also, but not everybody does well with eggs. Refried beans are good also. They are nice and soft, have fiber and protein.

3.5 Weeks Post Op
FindingCarrie replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the beginning, I lost 11 lbs in the 1 week pre-op. Then 7 the week after surgery. Then another 3 the following week, then a stall. Now this week, I have lost 3 lbs. I started at a relatively low re BMI, so I am not expecting to lose super fast. That being said, I am only 89 lbs from my goal weight as of today! [emoji2] -
I am down 28 lbs since starting my pre-op diet. 17 of that 28 has been post-op. I lost in the 1st week post-op, and then didn't lose anything for 2 weeks straight. Then I lost 3 lbs this week! Funny how this all works. I have advanced from soft food to cooked veggies, to eggs and Beans, and now chicken and shrimp. I have tolerated each food really well. I am at the point that I am getting more than 1/2 of my daily Protein goals from real food. Still have some minor discomfort at my incision sites, but for the most part, back to normal. Can't wait to get approval to get back to working out. As promised in my last post, I am attaching a photo of my incisions.Barely noticeable already! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

3.5 Weeks Post Op
FindingCarrie replied to FindingCarrie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@"Yvette804", my surgery was on 1/17. I had a 2 week stall after surgery, so I was expecting to have lost more by now, but I am happy with where I am. Losing faster than I ever have on any of the many of programs I tried before. -

@"msjessy323", I am not using any cream yet. I am waiting for my 1 month follow up with my doctor before putting anything on them. -
I like my Fitbit Aria as well. It does synch with the Fitbit app, and then I have it connect to the MyFitnessPal app as well. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

@"BigViffer", that is exactly how I felt with my first soft food experience, which was cottage cheese! It was truly heavenly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am 3 weeks out and have been cleared to have it. It sits heavy in my tummy though so I don't do it often. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My doctor prescribed Levsin for the stomach spasms. I only took it for a few days post op but haven't needed it since. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

3 week stall is real
FindingCarrie replied to sleevedviolet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 25 lbs in the 1 week pre-op and 1 week post surgery. Then I didn't lose anything for 2 weeks! I just dropped 1 lb today, so I am finally moving again! The stalls will happen, so just embrace them and let your body do what it needs to do in order to adjust to each drop in weight. I strongly recommend that you take your measurements so that you can look at them each time the scale is not moving. When scale stopped for me, I took my measurements and found that I had lost over 9 inches even though the scale wasn't moving. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I have been using this site for a lot of my research throughout my decision process, and now that I am moving towards my surgery date. This has been my journey so far: Around Thanksgiving of 2016, i had made my final decision to pursue bariatric surgery. I had the support of my family and friends, and I was ready to go. I had a recommendation for a surgeon, and so I made my consult appointment. I had my first consult on December 6, 2016, and I brought every piece of medical information with me to that appointment that could possibly prove that I had met the insurance qualifications for approval. I left that appointment fairly certain that I would have my surgery some time in January 2017. On December 14, 2016, I had an appointment with my PCP for medical clearance, and I also had my psych evaluation that same day. They were both kind enough to provide me copies of my records right after the appointment so that I could give them immediately to my surgeon's nurse. Once they received all of those documents, along with the proof of following a 6 month medically supervised weight loss program, they scheduled my surgery date for January 17, 2017. YAY!! I had my Endoscopy done on December 20, 2016, and was cleared or surgery. At this point, I am scheduled on January 4, 2017 for a pre-op class that will explain pre and post op eating plans, and any other surgery prep items. I then have my last appointment with my surgeon on January 5, 2017 before my surgery. This whole process has moved so fast, which I am so excited about. At each step of the process I have been worrying that one piece or another would disqualify me from the insurance approving the coverage. My surgeon's office has assured me that I meet all of the qualifications, and there is no reason the insurance should deny me. At this point, I am just counting down the days to January 17, 2017. I am so excited that I have already started cleaning out my closet! Thanks to everyone on this site for sharing your journeys, and allowing all of us newbies to learn from you! I look forward to becoming an active member of this group.

3.5 Weeks Away From Surgery
FindingCarrie replied to FindingCarrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@"Jackson53", I am down 25 lbs since starting the pre-op diet. 12 of it was post-op. I haven't been cleared for real exercise yet, but I can't wait to get back in to the BeachBody workouts that I was doing pre-surgery. I usually get about 70oz of water, which meets the goal, but I am really trying to drink more. I feel like it will flush things out better if I can drink more. I have progressed through all of my stages of food to the point that I am able to eat chicken now, so I am getting about half of my daily protein requirements from real food. It's been good to be able to cut out one of the protein shakes I was drinking each day. I still can only eat about 2oz at a time, so still very low calorie intake right now. @"mssteal216, you will do great! By this time tomorrow you will be doing laps around the nurses station! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

3.5 Weeks Away From Surgery
FindingCarrie replied to FindingCarrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jackson53, how are you coming along since surgery? i hope everything is going smoothly for you. -
Thanks Alex! It worked now.

Alex, It only let's you pick one of 3 options (immediate notice, daily recap, or weekly recap). It does not allow you to turn them off completely. There are also several options that will not allow you to toggle between options. It says they are locked by the administrator. Will that be changed in the future?

Can we fix the email issue? If we had all emails turned off before, now we are getting emails for every post we have commented on. The only way to turn them off is to go in to the website and turn off emails for each and every one. My email has been blowing up all day. There should be an "all email off" option like there used to be. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

After update issues
FindingCarrie replied to JerseyJules's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
@"JerseyJules", Me too! They need to turn this off immediately. My email is blowing up, and I don't need an email every time someone comments on a thread I commented on! What is more irritating about it is that there is not a simple way to turn off the emails! Like you said, you have to go in to the actual website to unsubscribe from email for each one!
