Post op complications
360lyMe replied to Emailkariann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 3 months out and I've not had any complications. Everything went as my surgeon and nutritionist said it would. I don't have any regrets at all. -

I'll be 3 months post op in 6/1. For me, everything tastes different. I only drink water. Occasionally, I'll put a drop or two of crystal light in it, but it's usually too sweet. I used to enjoy cookies and other sweets, but usually can't stand the smell of anything sweet now. I don't know if it's a permanent change, but don't like the foods that I used to enjoy anymore.

You're releasing gas. It's normal. You should get 64 onces total.

Make sure you are sipping at least for the first week. Drinking room temperature water helped me. The burping is very common. I would have long burping spells for the first two weeks, but I was home and really didn't care, as long as it brought relief.

Make a schedule to drink you protein and water. Set alerts on your cell phone to remind you to sip every 10-15 minutes.

March sleevers hows everyone doing??
360lyMe replied to The thinner me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 3/1. I've lost 30 lbs since surgery plus the 15 I lost during the 2 week pre-op diet, so 45 total. Strangely enough, I can eat everything I've tried, except chicken and eggs. I've not had any problems getting my protein or fluids in at all. I workout doing cardio and strength training 5-6 days a week. I've had several stalls, but seem to lose inches during my stalls. I think we get caught up in comparing ourselves to others and become disappointed in what we see as "slow progress", without considering the differences in our starting stats and programs. If we are not where we were before that initial consultation, we all should be damn proud of even the slightest progress. -

I like the strawberry watermelon multi and the caramel calcium.

I take Bariatric Advantage Chewy multi and calcium twice a day. They taste great. Initially, they made me nauseous if I took them on an empty stomach, but I was fine after a few days.

Drain tube post sleeve
360lyMe replied to klea0215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a drain tube, but I did have a pain medication pump going to one of my incisions for 5 or 6 days. I felt a burning sensation when the medication would leak on my skin. -
My 1st stall was at 2 1/2 weeks and lasted almost two weeks, and I followed my plan to the letter. It's great that you got right back on track. Stalls are going to happen from time to time no matter what you do.

Running/jogging after surgery
360lyMe replied to bubbz333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started at 2 weeks out. Started light lifting at 4 weeks out. -
I had to change the brand of bottled water I drink. I have no problems drinking it now.

The protein will ease the empty feeling. Try to drink another shake.
