Can you book a surgery for gallbladder removal....
360lyMe replied to mbuczkowski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gallbladder surgery is usually not an overnight stay, which is why they said you still have to pay for the hospital stay. Insurance may cover anesthesia, though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Self pay: Insurance to protect against complications?
360lyMe replied to mbuczkowski's topic in Insurance & Financing
I doubt it since I am not going through insurance at all. I believe the hospital just has to offer it. My surgeon is head of bariatrics at a center of excellence hospital that does not yet offer BLISS insurance, so he is doing my surgery at a center of excellence that does offer BLISS insurance. Anyone chose self pay due to impatience with ins?
360lyMe replied to fits_like_a_sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance has a 12-month pre-approval requirement that I am choosing to bypass and self-pay. While I don't have any co-morbidities, I have significant problems with my knees at 4' 10 1/2" and 260 lbs. At the recommendation of my PCP and Orthopedic Specialist, I'm investing $20,000 in myself. I received the recommendation right before Thanksgiving and will be sleeved in mid-February. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Polycystic kidneys...anyone had to deal?
360lyMe replied to mbuczkowski's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my abdominal ultrasound on Tuesday and was told that there is a small cyst on my left kidney, but that they are usually not concerned with cysts, if blood work and other tests are normal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm self-pay. I spoke with my surgeon's office therapist for about 45 minutes, as required by the surgeon, but it was not a psych eval. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I wonder if a lot of it is more about marketing... Some of the dietitians are saying, "Our program is better because you only have to do a pre-op diet for a week" or "You can take xyz instead of the abc that our competitors recommend and it's less expensive, but practically does the same thing" for less money". Self-Pay Gastric Sleeve and Hiatal Hernia
360lyMe replied to 360lyMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for sharing. I was told that the insurance may pay for the hospital stay and anesthesia, since I would need it anyway for the hiatal hernia. I'm prepared to pay for it all, but it would be great if I just had to pay the surgeon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Self-Pay Gastric Sleeve and Hiatal Hernia
360lyMe posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I will be paying for my VSG myself, but I had a EGD a couple of years ago and I have a hernia. Will insurance absorb some of the hospital costs if the hernia is repaired at the same time?
