I had lapband to sleeve on October 1st. I wish they had a revision forum.

Congrats on the weight loss!! I haven’t lost any weight since day five I had a revision lapband to sleeve on October 1st. I’m 13 days out and still the same weight since day five, I had an issue of not keeping in dairy or artificial sweeteners. So I couldn’t do protein shakes. I’m hoping now that I’m on stage 3 and just starting to get the protein I need I will start to lose.

I’m feeling great, couple of hiccups with stage 2, I could not hold in any dairy, nor anything with artificial sweeteners? I was at a loss for how to get protein in. I’m slowly eating dairy but the whey I can’t keep in, so now I’m doing one protein water a day along with my food. I had my lapband in 2011. I have to say this was a less painful and quicker recovery. I was up and walking the night of my surgery, of course I had been hooked up to everything. I’m telling you the quicker and more you walk the better you will feel. I never had one gas pain. With the lapband I had it in my shoulder and thought I was going to die. Usually unless your doctor doesn’t do revisions regularly I see no reason not to have it done in one day, I had a lot of scar tissue and was in the OR for three hours. Don’t be nervous give that up to God put that worry aside. Praying for you! Hope this helped to put your mind at ease. 🙏

Please don't feel alone, this is a very friendly and supportive community. To be honest, you'll get a lot more responses on the threads. Not many people reply to status updates. I'm not sure how to update on an ipad, but you could post the question in the website help thread. Be specific about the type of device you use. Hope this helps and welcome!

My journey to an expired band.

Laura Like you I've had major issues with my band still waiting for insurance to approve removal. Hoping and praying for a quick resolution to your issue. Keep us updated Jacquie Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Treadmill I am not trying to offend just sharing my experience. I too had a board certified doctor she was wonderful to me and had a great bed side manor. When I was one, two and three years out I was fine and loving my band. But I have never heard of a lapband procedure that is guaranteed no slippage..never, but if they are doing that now that's wonderful. But over 50 percent of people will go onto have some type of complications, it's written in any board certified lapband literature that has been written since 2010. I pray you never have or go though the complications that I and so many others on this site have had and wish you much success!

You are correct no really good GI's will do lap band anymore they will refer you out to some GI doctor that knows how dangerous it is and the long term complications just to rake in the bucks! Anyone considering getting one should look up lawsuits for lap bands before they ever do it, and another thing is no one gets second opinions on this surgery they are just so happy and think it's the least invasive they jump..I know I did! Good luck!

Acbrown Keeping you in prayer, I've been through what you have, now I have to have band removed! I pray it doesn't come to that for you!

Sounds good, I am most likely having it done same day but won't be 100 until he goes in and sees how much damage has been done by lap band. What I have learned is that I just don't have the band but my last surgeon also made a fold in my stomach which is common...but prevents you from having a sleeve safely because risk of tearing. I have battled with my weight since I was young but pretty much kept it under control with working out and diet. Late 2009 I started having issues with my hips and was unable to walk more then just a few feet, so the weight just piled on was at my heaviest 312 I'm 5"7. My doctor recommended I have a bariatric consultant. At the time the way things went with the bariatric doctor it seemed like the magic pill we al dream of. Just one consult and I was underway to my upcoming surgery I had to lose 10% of my weight. Took me about 3 months and had my surgery January of 2011. I was outpatient surgery and was home by dinner. I have to say it was fairly easy very little pain, some shoulder gas pain I walked off. Being on the liquid diet the weight came off quick and I followed the liquid diet to a T. No issues weight came off and I was back to my normal activity within 2 weeks. Solid foods in the beginning where great small portions and chewed everything very carefully. Fast forward to 2014 I am down to 220 total weight loss 92 pounds feeling and looking great. Went from size 24 to 16. I had to watch everything I ate because the weight was creeping back so I went on weight watchers at this time I had put on about 25 pounds but back down to around 220. I never lost anymore weight. When I went back to my bariatric doctor for fills I was almost full...that's when things went down hill...after that I threw up every day every meal and still not weight loss but weight gain, then came the reflux...so bad I was taking medicine and eating bottles of tums every day, had to sleep with a wedge..but worse then that was my asthma was so bad, I was taking tons of prednisone my immunity was going down, I had thrush for five weeks...I was a mess, not to mention my weight was up to 263. My bariatric doctor said just go back on liquids I did but who can live on liquid for ever...finally my primary doctor got me a consultation with a different bariatric doctor and he was amazing ran test found out I had an ulcer around my band. I will not even do bands do to 50 % of patients having issues, I am no awaiting my insurance to authorize a band removal and revision to full gastric bypass...the band was a nightmare for me.., my band is open all the way now, my reflux and asthma is great! I've lost 8 pounds and going to meet with the nutritionist next month.... Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
