4TheHealthOfIt replied to lf1227's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to ask about constipation, too. I'm 6 weeks post-op and am just now "going" more regularly (but not daily) . I had to rely on miralax for a while, too. Can you reach out to your nutritionist and show your food log for some guidance? -
day 2 of preop liquid diet and I messed up!
4TheHealthOfIt replied to erica2185's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
broth with some Better than Bouillion base mixed in...it is super flavorful and helped me through the liquid prep stage. I thankfully didn't have to do 2 weeks before. I feel for you!!! The two weeks after were bad enough. GOOD LUCK!!! -
Is there something I can have besides this...?

be careful!!! I know it's an annoying, tiring phase, but you don't want to harm your new pouch. -

Wow, what a stunning transformation. Congratulations !!! -
It scares me to see young people sucking these down on the regular with no concern. I saw two teens walking to my boys' school last week with venti fraps in hand (one was unicorn one was caramel). Breakfast of champions? I think not!!

4TheHealthOfIt replied to AK_Bookworm's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I only drank broth, gatorade, flavored waters (using crystal light or mio drops) and hot tea...oh and s/f jello. post op (in hospital) I didn't really eat anything as I was done with broth at that point (I had to do two days) and jello is gross. lol Good luck to you!!! -

What Were (or Are) Your Pre-Op WLS Requirements?
4TheHealthOfIt replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I honestly didn't mind the pre-op requirements. I had the basics....nut, psych, extensive blood work, chest xray, ekg, endoscopy (due to a history of heartburn/reflux). I had a 6 mo wait through insurance and had to see my primary dr each month. I was motivated and focused and ready to do whatever I needed to do for the surgery. As for pre-op diet, I only had 2 days of liquids and a bowel prep. I was asked to lose 15 lbs pre-op and did just that through my 6 mo weight management program, diet and exercise. Self pay was not an option. -
congratulations. Your hard work is paying off. Love your smile !!!

How to best discuss my surgery with children?
4TheHealthOfIt replied to NewStart 2017's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My kids are a bit younger than your's and have some special needs. I didn't want to worry them and may divulge more as time goes on as it's clearly a life change. What I told them is that I was going to have a procedure that would help me be more active, healthy and allow me to do more things with them. They have seen my staples, my post-op liquid diet and my woozy first days of pain. Good luck to you! -
Thinking of you and hope it goes smoothly (all three of you!!) I'm nearly 2 weeks post op from RNY and each day is better than the last.
-
Hey, We're surgery buddies... I had RNY on 3/27/17, too. I came home 3/28 and each day has been better and better. I have my post op on Wednesday of this next week and looking forward to 1) getting these staples out and 2) expanding my post-op menu. LOL Hope you are doing well!!!

Starting out at age 45? How common?
4TheHealthOfIt replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
2 weeks post op from RNY. I am 46 1/2 lol In my orientation, nutrition and support groups, I appeared to be among the youngest. We are great candidates...focused, life history, and many years left to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Loved this old thread and seeing everyone's success in the profiles. YAaaay!!! -
How soon is too soon for a road trip?
4TheHealthOfIt replied to Rosalynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon requires us to be no farther than 1 hour away for the first 7 days in case there are any complications I also don't think I would have been very comfortable in the car for much longer than my ride home. I swear I felt every bump, dip, pothole in the road. It's hard letting go of mommy responsibilities. I felt very disconnected from my kids/family my first week home, but I"m grateful that my hubs had the reins so I could rest and be comfortable. -
