Did weight loss slow down for you after the first month ?

Congratulations [emoji322][emoji323][emoji324][emoji846] -
It's so difficult but I find these things helpful to do after each bite, step away from your plate for a designated amount of time (2-5 minutes), set a timer for 2-5 minutes, play a game on your phone, eat with others n socialize during the meal (ie ask questions/try general conversation after each bite & don't take another until the person is done talking) , etc

It is an important thing to have. I wouldn't properly wear it tho I'm planning on keeping one in my wallet with my ID and I also use medical ID alert on iPhone

I've been having tingling sensations mostly in the left side of my body (usually both feet though) since surgery multiple times a day. My limbs don't "feel" asleep but I get the pins and needles sensation but more often than not it feels like it's literally vibrating. I keep wanting to explain it like a car revving up its engine because it's pretty forceful and sometimes gradual. It happens even when I'm rubbing my arm in a specific place its so odd and unnerving. I have my 1 month post op appointment tomorrow and I will be asking abt this but I want to know if anyone else has experienced this ?

Literally all I can say is don't think too much about it. I would have panic attacks thinking about the surgery and on my surgery date I just .. forced myself to think about it differently (my mom had RNY along with other painful surgeries n she said it was the easiest thing, just thinking about my loved ones who underwent surgery and made it out helped so much lmao) and less. Also it might help to ask questions / step by step on the procedure even if you know it all, hearing my surgeon talk so confidently about it eased my fears of an incompetent surgeon. Anyway i wish you the best and a smooth recovery ❣️[emoji261]

Crystal light if flavoring is an issue sugar free popsicles , chew on ice cubes, broth, & sugar free jello variety in my experience does help a lot. I'm day 7 and I still have issues but I just try to drink as constantly as possible and measure the amount of water I can swallow each without overrunning m tummy and it seems to work. Every day gets better though so just try to drink as much as you can

I took some of my dressing off to look at my incisions to see if they're healing and to my surprise I have my incisions staple shut. I wasn't told or given any proper cleaning instructions and the nurse told me I could take off my dressings today and shower but idk if I should wait to get the staples out? if any of you have had staples and how did you care for them?

Got my surgery date for may 3rd !!!!! I'm so so happy I waited 2 months for the approval and now that I have a date it still doesn't feel real somehow but god I can't wait

I'm ok thank u. I was doing well in the hospital but got discharged the morning after my surgery [emoji37] which was incredibly hard because I wasn't able to take pain medication or use gas relief tablets because putting anything into my system made me very nauseous. They still do but I'm doing better today I'm getting in a minimum of 4-6 oz of water an hour which isn't that good but better than getting 2 oz every other hour. The gas pain was unreal tho, it was deeply embedded into my shoulders to the point where getting up felt like my lower half wasn't strong enough to hold my upper body.. I felt like every time I moved I was carrying a 100 pound weight on my back it was really painful. It's still there but it's much easier to move around today. I'm still like kinda out of it because of the heavy sedation but my surgery went well and I didn't have any complications. How are you?

This is what I have been waiting for for the past 3 years and despite the terrible anxious feeling I have in my stomach I'm ok I'm happy

Any May dates? I just got mine!

My date is may 3rd [emoji4] -
8 months ! I had to do a 6 month weigh-in for insurance and it took about 2 months afterwards to get my file submitted [emoji51] my surgery is May 3rd.
-
How did you all (if had) deal with the anxiety before your surgeries
-
Sorry for the late response [emoji51] but 3 months overall to get my file submitted and a few days for my insurance to approve me ! My date is may 3rd
-
I got a call confirming that my case has been submitted into my insurance which is really exciting. I almost had a heart attack when I noticed that my surgeons office was calling today but it was just to verify my address and send me lab forums [emoji37] But it's fine she's worth waiting another 2+ weeks for

Trouble choosing my procedure!!
ilgc replied to sne0104's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really depends on your current health and how drastic you want to go. The RNY was always ~it for me because my parents had it and I saw how much they lost, how beneficial it was to their health, and how successful they were. It was never anything else for me. The sleeve was too little and the duo switch extremely drastic. I would do research on all to better understand and pick the one that has the majority of what you're looking for as well as considering the necessities needed for afterwards. You want the tool that's best fitted for you and your health needs. Good luck ! -
Very frustrated with my surgeons office
ilgc replied to ColleenErin1974's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Literally the same thing happened to me. I finished my last weigh in appointment January 18th and my file didn't get submitted to my insurance until March .. like they didn't even have my information compiled into a chart lol. It took them 3 months to submit. I would call frequently and complain if nothing moves. Ask for your surgeons average schedule in office since he's only in a few times a week and call for updates when you know he'll be there. Im sorry I don't have a lot of good advice to give I honestly just called as much as I could for updates and waited it out. -
What Are You Packing To Take To The Hospital?
ilgc replied to CurvyCakes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Phone, kindle, some toiletries, comfortable/ loose clothing, slippers and gasX strips. I'm not anticipating much dry mouth bc my surgeon allows water after surgery but in case yours doesn't/ you don't know I'd bring biotene too. -
That's really disappointing :-/ I'm sorry about that
-
Wow yeah im sorry about your complications with lapband but that's so exciting about RNY!! It's still a huge decision to make giving WLS another try and that's really admirable to me. Good luck, I hope all goes well :-)
