I am not a doctor, but... (post-op diet progression)
Greensleevie replied to theantichick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This post should be pinned somewhere and be a required must read for all pre surgery people. Well done. -
STARTING FROM ZERO ... TODAY
Greensleevie replied to Angelica Marti's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm a little confused... are those your before pictures? Or pics from a time when you were not obese? You don't look overweight enough to have the sleeve surgery if these are current. What is your current weight/BMI? The relative short time I've been on this forum, I've noticed there have been quite a few people posting just trying to start trouble. I apologize if you aren't one of them. -
I'm freaking starving.

I'm freaking starving.
Greensleevie replied to goldenbarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The head hunger is horrible at that stage. Call your surgeon as soon as you know he will be in and ask if you can progress to soft food. I had a friend that did that and he allowed it. If so, stick with things high in Protein like refried Beans, Riccotta Bake, soft eggs etc. Mac and Cheese and mashed potatoes are not ideal for a post bariatric diet. I did soft/pureed diet without mashed potato one. Once you start eating more 'real' food, the cravings and head hunger should go away. On another note, a positive attitude is everything in order to be successful with these surgeries. I suggest you do an attitude adjustment or you will struggle. Start by losing that huge chip on your shoulder. That alone should be a few pounds. -
Did you not like your food?

One Week Out and The Weight is Sliding Off
Greensleevie replied to vsg_fairy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, do that for sure! You'll be happy you did! It's really nice to have pictures and measurements to compare and see how far you've come. You'll be amazed the difference just a few weeks makes Imagine looking back on them a year from now! -
Poor thing. Have you tried just putting unflavored Protein powder in your mashed potatoes and grits just to make sure you're getting enough? Have you tried refried Beans and a little cheese?

Drunk water after eating
Greensleevie replied to aharrison48's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol, yes. A couple of sips isn't going to hurt you. The rule is technically more for bypass people, but it does also effect sleeve people. It's just preventing the food from washing through your stomach faster so you get the nutrients and stay satisfied longer. It won't physically hurt you or anything. I have heard some people will vomit if they drink too soon after though. -
One Week Out and The Weight is Sliding Off
Greensleevie replied to vsg_fairy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@vsg_fairy Depends. One week, maybe 3. The thing about those pesky stalls is they may be annoying, but they are just part of the whole process. And the scale may not be moving, but you'll probably still be losing inches, so take measurements! -
One Week Out and The Weight is Sliding Off
Greensleevie replied to vsg_fairy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Amazing progress! Don't get discouraged when you hit a stall here soon. They usually happen around 3-6 weeks post op. It will just be your bodies way of taking a break after your amazing loss in such a short time. -
3 Weeks Post Gastric Sleeve Op And Eating Real Food...
Greensleevie replied to Queen of Crop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Michelle6 I woundn't consider it cheating, really. It's more like going against a post surgery prescription diet needed until healing can occur. Kind of like breaking your leg and not walking on it until it's fully healed. You can do life risking damage going against surgeons orders too soon, like a gastric leak. -
Psychologist Exam visit today....cried like an itty bitty baby
Greensleevie replied to beaker27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Why? I think that's kind of part of their job, to get to the bottom of why someone may be obese. Lack of self care is a symptom of lack of self esteem, and lack of self esteem can be caused by abuse. To me, it seems like a perfectly logical question. -
Why is weight loss a one size fits all scenario here? Different goals call for different approach
Greensleevie replied to Tootsietoes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As someone who is almost a year further out than you and about 25 pounds over my goal weight right now, I can honestly say the moderation thing you are talking about has stopped working for me. I found this forum to see if i can get support to get back on track. I am able to eat more than before, and have found myself eating too much of the sweets and carbs like Cookies and crackers. I was really good about staying away from that stuff the first couple of years but started the moderation thing and it kind of spiraled out of control. Because I wouldn't gain for so long when I would eat sweets and carbs, I found myself constantly pushing the limits and now am facing a 25 pound gain. I honestly think if I would have tried to stay on the straight and narrow a bit better and not given into the moderation lie people use so much regarding surgery, I would still be where I need to be weight wise. I think it catches up to us eventually and we really need to watch what we eat a large majority of the time. It almost seems there were metabolism changes that happened with me, where stuff I could get away with before, I no longer could and would see the scale climb instead. If we couldn't moderate food before, then what makes us think we could after surgery? Portion control just isn't enough after a certain amount of time in my opinion. -
Where is Lipstick Lady when I need her?

I hear ya! I came to this forum looking for some support for about 25 pounds of regain I've had in the past year, and this time of year isn't helping matters at all! I've got to get back on track before I gain anymore!
