Down 51 lbs., took new photo...disappointed!
WillBSkinE replied to Cheryl Ann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I notice a big difference in the pictures. Your stomach looks flat in the current pic and you face is slender. You look younger also. I guess we are our own worse critic because to me you look great! It gives me encouragement because my stomach is where I need to lose the most weight. -
Dr Brody/GW University (Help Needed)
WillBSkinE replied to sxevan9's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good grief! I posted a reply to one of your posts in a different thread because we are in the same city (Suitland) and I was also considering Dr. Brody. I'm still in the research stage of this process. I know how I get when I am anxious about something and I definately wouldn't have had the patience to deal with that as well as you did. I think I may keep looking. I hope you get your surgery date soon and everything else goes along smoothly. -
Hi SXEVAN9. I'm in Suitland also. I am just starting my search for a doctor. How did you like Dr. Brody? How have things been since the surgery? Would you recommend him? He is on my list to check out.

I haven't had surgery yet but I'll be in the same situation as you when I do. I plan to find a support group at the hospital where I have the surgery done and come online for support.

I have had my initial consultation with my primary care physician and the first thing she asked me was if I had a surgeon. She said she could recommend(sp?) one but they probably wouldn't be in the DC Metro area. I'm in PG County, Maryland. I really cant afford to travel for my surgery. Can anyone in the DC, MD or VA are recommend a surgeon. Thanks:redface:

Good luck to you as well Ella! I did look on the Aetna website and found a few seminars in my area. I plan to attend one at the end of the month. Did they explain the whole process from beginning to end in the seminar you attended? The thought of having to go through getting approval is a little overwhelming to me. Maybe if I understood the process a little better it wouldn't feel so frightening. I understand not wanting to be someone who had "the surgery". I felt the same way. But, I'm to the point now where I have tried everything under the sun and nothing works for longterm. So, I will only be telling about 2 people I'm having it done. Everyone else will have to speculate.

Hi Everyone. My name is Rhonda. I've been considering the Lapband for a long time but was too scared to initiate the process. Then one day last week it just clicked with me. I'm tired of being overweight. I've been lucky so far not to have any illnesses. I have other problems though like sore feet, bad back, achy knees. I know these ailments are from my weight. Anyway, I went to my Primary Care Physician today and let her know I was interested in the Lapband. She was very supportive and made me feel much better about the decision. Now, I'm just anxious to get it done. This site is great! I've found a lot of information here.
