Morning guys! I’ve been quiet since introducing myself, as I was getting ready for my trip/surgery. I had my surgery May 3 and it went wonderfully!!! The most painful part of the entire experience was the IV Potassium- I cried like a baby😬. I’m down 19 lbs so far and feeling great!! My surgeon has me progressing my diet every 10 days, so yesterday was puréed foods. Just an FYI- the nurse in the hospital told me about the bariatric fusion Cherry Iron chews and they’re like eating starburst!

I assume you guys started your pre-op liquid diet today too...?

Make that triplets!! I’m Scheduled for May 3rd as well! I’m having an RNY - revisional from band to sleeve and now RNY.

I was banded in 2002. I had my band removed July 2016 and was revised to a sleeve during the surgery. I haven’t lost any weight as i am constantly hungry and suffer greatly with GERD and severe gastritis. I will be having yet another revision May 3rd, out of state, to RNY. I am very anxious about the recovery 😕. I started my 2 week pre-op diet today and always feel the first 2 days are the hardest. Anyone else starting pre-op today?

I had my sleeve 2 years ago and the GERD is HORRIBLE! I’m currently on 3 meds to control it, but am not having any luck. I am having an RNY in January to hopefully resolve things!

Revisions of all kinds! Please share your experiences!

A revision could be a Few things; it could be having a second WLS years after your initial procedure because you’ve gained weight back years later, it could be fixing a problem with a recent procedure or simply having another procedure because the previous did not meet your needs/ reason for the surgery in the first place.

Have any of you had or know of anyone who has had a band placed over their sleeve? I was banded in 03 and slipped over the past few years. I had it removed and was sleeved in '16 and haven't lost a single pound. I have read about placing a band over the sleeve and am curious to hear from those who've had this procedure.

I am in the same boat you guys! I had my band removed 7/16 and sleeve at the same time. Things have been not so great since and I’m having painful GERD since my sleeving. I had Cigna and all was approved for revision, but my husband got a new job and we now have BCBSLA and bariatric surgery is not covered under his new employer 😔. I’m working with my Dr to file an appeal and pray it is accepted!

LET’S START FRESH on this topic 😜! I’ll go first! So, the topic of “Surgery didn’t work” is intriguing. If your surgery hasn’t worked from the start, what have you done/are you doing? I’ll tell you that I was banded in 2003, had my band removed and a sleeve ( in the same surgery) and haven’t lost a stinkin’ pound! 2 different doctors. I’m currently working with the Dr who banded me to meet insurance requirements to convert to bypass. Anyone else have a similar situation?

It's beyond frustrating- depressing. The nausea from hunger pangs has landed me with a monthly prescription of Zofran and 3 different GERD meds. I'm talking to my original surgeon who has recommended bypass, but I also remember the feeling I had with the band and knowing when I was full and the restriction I felt, of which I have none now. I do know that the surgeon who did my sleeve used the largest bougie-42, which has a lot to do with it. I wish I'd have kept my slipped band at this point!! The band was great fo me. I loved that it made me fee full and that is why I'm leaning toward a band on top of my sleeve. However, I cannot find anyone who has had this done which is concerning. I'm hesitant about a bypass as I could be exactly where I now and then have no options!

I am having this issue as well, but going from band to sleeve. I'm 18 months out and haven't lost anything. I feel hungry all the time and am wondering if that is how you are feeling too...? My Dr says I'm a good candidate for a revision, but there are a few options and I'm not sure which would be best- band over sleeve, bypass, or further reduction of the sleeve I have now. I just remember feeling full with my band and haven't had that feeling with my sleeve at all😔

I'm the same way punchcake????. Unfortunately, I'm back on a "diet" as opposed to eating less of the healthy foods I normally eat. I was put on medication to help with the hunger pangs and I have to admit it has helped a bit. I'm eating no more than 800 calories a day and all of those consist of protein- grilled chicken, shakes and cottage cheese. I'm hoping this will allow weight to come off so that I don't have to have a bypass as I'm really not wanting to do that. Did you have a band prior to the sleeve, or was this your first experience with weight loss surgery?

I had my band converted to a sleeve 6 mos ago. The only weight I've lost was during the "prep" leading up to surgery. I do not feel restricted in any way and am able to eat more than I ever did with my band. I'm hungry even after having finished a meal 15 minutes prior. I'm nauseated from trying not to eat more "than I should be able to". My question is related to revisions after having a lap band to sleeve conversion; have any of you had a band out over your sleeve? If so, do you feel restricted?

Lovelymama, you and I sound exactly the same! I had a band for 13 years and LOVED IT. 6 months ago I had it t moved and got the sleeve. The only weight I've lost was during pre-op prep. I started a thread on here discussing my concerns and am hoping my recent findings will help. I'm scheduled for an EGD Friday to determine severity of a hiatal hernia.

Update** I met with my surgeons team and was put on Topomax to help control hunger pangs. I was sent for an UpperGI and Ultrasound of my abdomen to rule out any gallbladder issues ( possible reason for nausea). My Dr's office just called to say that I have a hiatal hernia and major reflux. I've been taking Prilosec religiously for years and do not ever have the burning sensation or reflux feeling. I'm having an EGD Friday to determine the severity of said hernia and am praying that this will be the solution for my sleeve failure!

I'm meeting with my doctors team Friday and am hoping to get everything out without being told I should "just reset" my diet from the beginning- as in full liquid diet. I am starting to wonder whether or not I was even sleeved! I'm wondering if maybe my band was removed and that was it. I'm so angry and humiliated I can't even sleep. Not for nothing, but even if they do agree to a revision, would I trust them again to do the surgery? Will I be able to afford the cost of whatever they decide??????
