I am 4 days out and experience the same thing when I take too big of a sip. It's very temporary but taking smaller sips definitely helps.

hurts when I sneeze or cough
therealrox replied to schoen2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 days out and this happens to me... ouch! I got a cold right after surgery so have been coughing a lot. The abdominal binder helps a TON! If you don't have one, you could probably find out at a pharmacy or durable medical equipment store. And also hug a pillow. If you cannot, then scrunch your tummy a little and you get almost the same effect (for when you're at work.) Good luck! -
Have you tried taking in some Ginger tea or some dissolvable ginger tabs? (The Ginger People makes good ones.) Have you been able to keep any protein shakes or water down? It's important to get fluids in to avoid dehydration which is a common cause of readmission after sleeve surgery. One thing that's helped me is sucking on sugar free popsicles, it's a good way to get a little fluid in. Hope you get in to see your PCP tomorrow.

I feel 50% normal today after sleeping hard last night. Propping up extra pillows helped me get good sleep-pain syrup I'm sure helped that too. Walking around the property feels good, fresh air and helped with the gas. Can you have someone massage your shoulders and chest to help release gas? Did your doc recommend Ginger for nausea? I'm using dissolving children's ginger tabs and they help a lot. Hang in there... we're in this for the long run Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Tomorrow is the day! Any advice
therealrox replied to bossportsgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope everything went well for the other Jan 10 sleevers. I just got back from a walk around the Med/surg floor. Like everyone says, walk, walk, walk! It really helps with gas pains. I've been burping a lot and have some incisional pain but it's tolerable. Taking in 50 mls each hour I'm away, Protein and Water. I hope my surgeon releases me today! I'm ready for my own bed and environment. I'd love to hear how you're all feeling. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
The liquid diet is rough for the first 5 days, the last 5 get easier. I found miso broth and added unjury Protein powder to it and it was tasty! Another thing I did was get fat free low sodium chicken middle Soup and strain out all of the noodles, then add Unjury. it made a great tasting "dinner." Keep it up, its worth it. Two day pre liquid diet
therealrox replied to bossportsgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're getting close! Mine is on 1/10. The pre-op I was put on consists of protein shakes, fat free low sodium broth, sf jello, lots of water and sf water drinks like LifeWater, and the nutritionist said if you absolutely need something that feels like a cheat, go for a sf pudding. I was instructed no dairy, no caffeine, no alcohol, no NSAIDS, and pretty much nothing else except the above consuming 80 grams of protein a day. Good luck on your surgery! -

Can I lie - hernia op?
therealrox replied to bossportsgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm contemplating telling people at work. When I applied for the leave I didn't have to tell them what i was having done and i told my boss it was a minor procedure that would have me out for a few weeks. (My guess is he didn't ask because he thought it was a female type surgery and didn't want either of us to be uncomfortable.) My issue/thought/concern about telling people at work is that for the last year I've fluctuated up and down with weight and I feel many comment on my weight loss, "gee you sure are losing weight, etc" already... so I am preparing myself to hear that more and reply with something like this, "yes, I'm on strict high Protein diet with workouts under the care of a physician." -
