9 Months and the Game is Changing

Awesome. I am a snacker pre-op and will be a snacker (or grazer) post-op. I appreciate your response here. I don't intend to or plan to count calories. Did it many moons ago and won't do it again. Too time consuming. I don't want to worry about numbers either. That's why I don't bother to weigh myself either. Grazing or not, if it works than great. If it doesn't, then great. Find what works for you. We're all different. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. It will work. It should work. And 1492 is very doable. I'm imagining your stats. I put in my stats as if I'm at my goal weight and my goal to gain muscle, which I plan to still do (weight train) 3 times a week post-op. Crazy big numbers right? I know, but it's pretty much right on. I'm weight training now and I'm ravenously hungry all day...I'm eating more, but I'm losing inches. The more you move the more you need to fuel. But if you're not in to exercise, it's going to boil down to the right foods and enough of them. You can do it hon. Many blessings to you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Still deciding

I won't get my date until maybe at the end of April/early May. But until then, I have 3 more NUT appts and a pysch eval (on Monday) and that's it. I'm doing this for prevention of co-morbidities. Also to not end up like my mother, overweight and tons of problems...including cancer she's been battling forever it seems. She can't walk without pain, she can't do a lot of things, and she's miserable. I just cannot fathom myself in her shoes, EVER. So, I'm doing something about it.

    Just a reminder

That smile! Great job lady. I think many people should continue with therapy about food addiction; especially if they're worried about the weight coming back. That's just my personal opinion though. But I'm glad you continued and won the battle and will continue to win it. Again, great job! You are another reason why I will be successful with my WLS too. Thank you for sharing.

    6'ish months

Those "thick legs" look like pure muscle!!!!! Gorgeous legs! Now tell yourself you have beautiful legs, please. [emoji4] congrats! I'm 18/20 now. Haven't had surgery. Hoping I don't have issue with skin, really I don't think I will. Your journey gives me so much hope!!! Thank you for sharing. [emoji120]? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I've had multiple surgeries. Call me loco, but I didn't have fears going in and I feel the same way with the sleeve. I don't even have a fear of gaining anything back, cause I won't. Just as @sleeveme17 says: "Prayer and just asking the Lord to order our steps. Faith trust and believe" <----EXACTLY THIS.

    Still deciding

We are about the same stats, but I'm a little older than you. I have no co-morbidities and my surgeon advised that it is probably best for me to go the sleeve route. Which I was leaning towards anyway. Less complications all over for me.
  9. I hope your pity party is over, but like @mylighthouse said, you already paid for your chocolate indulgence. I too, hope Jasper will be better soon. And you too @_Kate_! Ya'll both get to feeling better, you hear?

    Voice change?

Voice is lower or higher? I haven't heard this before. I'm interested to see if anyone else has had this too.
  11. So, I have been faithfully going to the gym these past few weeks and I feel great.  I have more energy during the day.  I'm dog tired at night and fall asleep fast.  I am stronger, I feel stronger, I look stronger.  Actually feel like I'm making a difference (which I'm sure I am).  I don't weigh myself, so I'll be surprised when I go see the NUT on the 22nd.  If I gain, it'll only be due to the heavy weights I'm lifting, cause my clothes aren't any tighter.  If I lose, well, good, that'll be nice.  I don't care of numbers though.  So, anyways, I'm doing a great job.  With that being said, my "great job" mentality goes down the drain when I walk by that darn full body mirror along side of the whole gym.  UGH! I do my best not to look.  Today, I didn't. So, kudos to that! One day I'll look over and see a different person and probably enjoy it.  I'll just be sure not to look so much that I'm looking all conceited about admiring myself. haha

I'm so proud of you.....  can't wait till you post more pictures.  I love that you said... you're doing a Great Job... Yes you are...

I remember the first time i saw the "skinny" girl in a mirror.  I was walking in the mall and there were mirrors on the columns... and i passed and caught a glimpse of me....  i stopped in my tracks, backed up and looked... stood there and started to cry.  I couldn't believe that girl in the mirror was me.  You will have that moment too.... i know it

Thank you and You bet I will have a that moment. I always imagine myself back at a healthy weight; it's easy to do it, until reality hits. But I will be there soon. This year is the New Me. :)

    Never Ever Ever

Meijers....haven't heard of that store for 25 years! Used to live in OH. This is off topic, obviously...but I really enjoyed this: "your success is not dependent upon my support. If you fail, it's not the forums or sleeves fault. It's yours." RIGHT ON!

I miss seeing the statuses people post on their profile that was listed on the right side, bottom of the main page. It was easier to see what was up with everyone who doesn't post to a forum. But I do enjoy the new look.
  15. From time to time I think about what it's going to mean for me not to be going out to eat with my husband on date nights and my family on Sundays after church. We don't go out too often, but I do still think about all the money I can save, and still even go out to eat but enjoy a few bites, but mostly find alternative things to do other than food. Walk on the beach (yeah, I live by the beach), concerts, ferry rides, rodeo, cirque de soleil, outlet malls (definitely doing this)! I'm training my mind now that food is fuel, sure, we can enjoy it, but it's not what is going to control me. I'll be controlling it.
  16. definitely increase it. You've got the right idea about gaining by starvation mode. We aren't made to live a 1200 calorie diet forever. I've posted that the 1200 calorie diet is for someone who is 4'2" and 80lbs (and that is to maintain). I can probably say almost everyone here isn't that height and weight. Otherwise, you'll be right back to where you started, yo-yo dieting. You lose, you gain a lot. You lose a little, you gain a whole lot more! you have to take risk to go higher in calories, until you really understand the science of why and how it works. But here's a website that, once again, I've shared with others here about people stopping the 1200 calorie diet to eat properly for their body, height/weight/activity level. www.eatmore2weighless.com Check it out and congratulations on your getting married!!! Marriage rocks...at least mine does! Many blessings to you hon!
  17. I'm wondering if it's hard to drink right after surgery, how do you get your Vitamins and medicines in, especially if you take pills? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Newme17

    Vitamins

I'd think the chewables would make you full, did they? Or even the pills, for that matter. I'm almost weary of taking pills knowing that I have to sip, especially in the beginning.

Do you find your bloodwork to be just fine with the patches? I've been looking in to these....

    Kombucha or no?

I want to say I've had kefir before, but I just don't recall. Thanks for the info on the gummies, I'll look into those too. I only really started drinking kombucha for the gut health. I was having a lot of trouble with my digestive system when I started and found them to really help, the taste was great too (certain brands). I'm going to look up the gummies. I would rather just stay away from carbonation altogether after surgery anyhow. Thank you again!!
  21. So what happened to all of my statuses? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but where else could they be?

  22. Sorry. Not trying to be offensive by any means. This is why I don't and won't be weighing myself (I'll let the doc do this). Stalls will happen. Focus on how good you feel and how the clothes are feeling bigger, etc. Focus on doing what the doc has given you to do. Put your mind to other matters than numbers on a scale. Save yourself the stress and headache of worrying. Many blessings on your journey!!!
  23. Hon, I'll be praying for you. Let's hope the doc and derm have a change of mind and heart about it, ok.
  24. look like i'm going to be making these! Thanks for sharing!
