  1. Called Cigna, they said as long as my surgeon/team submits ALL the required paperwork, then the approval turnaround is very quick (a couple of days or so).  Says all it takes is a reviewer to review it and make sure it's all legit.  Sounds great! I'll be top of the center then. :)

    Weighing Food

That's really how it should be, in my opinion. I have not bought a scale or anything. It's time to listen, really listen, to the body for me.

    Macros

That's perfect! This is what I will be doing when cleared post op, and currently doing before my pre-op, but plant based. I don't like the high protein low/or no carb diets.
  6. I suspect this will be my husband! But we don't have a travel trailer! lol
  7. I've posted this before somewhere, but mine is to wear my wedding ring again. Never had it resized for this very reason, for it to fit again. Can't wait. I have a zillion other reasons too, all for health mainly.
  8. Tomorrow is my last prerequisite appointment.  I need to remember to ask when they will be submitting the papers so I can follow up with my insurance.

Been doing plant based here and it's going well.  Someone commented on me looking like I lost weight.  Don't feel like I have.  I'll find out tomorrow at my weigh in.  My husband who does not need to lose any weight, is dropping weight.  He's so frustrated, he's trying to gain.  We're such a pair!

Time did not fly by for this.  Time flew by with my kids' school, with my kitchen renovation (still going on), and other things, but not this.  I'm glad to be at the end already.  Within 3-4 weeks I should be getting sleeved.  :)

    TX - Corpus area

Corpus people, do we need to get this thread going again???
  10. People who are swearing by them had intestinal gas.
  11. "having bariatric surgery will not do anything for you other than physically making your stomach smaller. That is it. You will have the exact issues and emotions you have always had." ------------------------------------------------------------------ redundant of title but this speaks volumes. I agree with every word written in the article. Especially the words I copied and posted. I'm pre-op and have been dealing with the emotional eating that I have done/do. i know the surgery will not fix my head, that is what I need to do. It'll just fix how much can go in. That's it. Nothing more. I have to do the head work and eliminate the body's craving for crap. That's work!!! Thanks for posting!

    How do I veggies?

My surgeon/nut suggests to all their patients, eat two bites of protein, one bite of veggie, then COMPLEX starch very last (if finished the first two and you are able to). They express the importance of getting a better balanced diet in. NOT ALL PROTEIN. My nut also approved my green bombs. I blend kale, spinach, cucumbers, green apples, ginger, and coconut oil (if I have it) together in the nutribullet with water. pour them in ice trays and freeze. Keep them in the freezer until ready to use. Currently, I add 3-4 to a protein shake/drink. Post op, I'll be adding 1 in until I can add more. But that's if you're still using protein shakes regularly. I never thought to add them in soups, etc.
  13. Has there been any changes, stress, lack of sleep, etc? These things can hinder weight loss. Not staying properly hydrated? Even not eating enough? <--- Contrary to belief, yes, you can gain/stall not eating enough. But that's another topic (unless you want to go there, let me know). Is there too much sodium in your diet? that'll cause water retention. About to start that time????? Also, doesn't help.

    Why Did You Gain Weight?

Unfortunately many parents don't realize the damage they do to their children in regards to weight. Especially around 8-10 years when children are a little more self conscious of their bodies and don't know any better that they're still growing! i was a skinny minny growing up. I do recall my mom calling me fat out of sheer jealousy when I was 16 or so. That lie led me to start believing I was. So I delved into exercise/nutrition. Kept it off till about 8 years ago. My grandmother did the same stuff to my mother, as yours did. So young in age, she put my mom on diets. My mom is still morbidly obese with stage 4 cancer, diabetes, and neuropathy issues. I can honestly believe that if the parents were to not have made weight the issue, or suggest bikeriding (as you said), you and my mother would have turned out quite different. I don't do this with my kids. They're young, 3,7, & 12. I heard my stepdaughter mention something about calories in a yogurt. I told her she had no business worrying about that because her body is still growing. I make it a point to not share my struggles out loud or with my kids as well. They don't even know about my surgery. I'm sorry you had to go through that. It hits hard for me because of where my mom is in her life that started in childhood.
  15. I'm not a vet, but I would say, save your money. Review your current diet and see whether you need to omit/add something. Possible add calories for a jump start (depending how low you are). You've lost a great amount, congrats! Just remember it's not a race, enjoy your loss and the rest will follow.
  16. I haven't had it yet, but I do hope all goes well for you. I have read many having second thoughts (quite normal). Blessings to you!

    Why Did You Gain Weight?

I didn't become an emotional eater and really gain weight, which started when I was on bedrest during both pregnancies and BORED to death about 8 years ago. Before that, I couldn't fathom to eat just to eat. It was fuel. I was a gym junky. Studying nutrition in school. Didn't help that I married a man who wasn't as active as I was either (not saying I regret marrying him), I just became comfortable. Life changed for me. The way I dealt with my emotions changed. It's all in the head. I literally have to fight the urge to eat when my emotions are high. Ex: I had to shell out $400 for glasses when I was trying to not spend money. It made me upset. So what did I do? Told myself some lemonade and chick fil a fries would be a good snack and I'll feel better, and even worse I went and got it! I won't be like that anymore. ....no thumb/finger sucking for me....

    I messed up

Some pre-ops allow veggies. So I wouldn't worry about it. The greens are so healthy for your body (also depends on how made) but given what you cooked them in, I say you're quite safe. Please don't feel too bad about it. Don't dwell in the guilt. That's not good. I'm sure the surgeon will probably just tell you try even harder. You are fine. 😊 Blessings to you on your journey hon.
  19. I'd like to try this. I hear people putting protein in their coffee, but I can't get past that protein powder taste. It's not that great. I've done protein shakes for a long time and always manage to make it taste better with various veggies/fruits, etc....but not with coffee.

    Insurance

Classic excuse for not submitting in the first place. But, it could very well be lost in the mail. Hope it gets resolved for you. I'll be asking "what day will my paperwork be submitted so I can call my insurance company to verify they've received it?" It puts a little pressure on the coordinator to get it done.

    Cigna Insurance

I have Cigna and not sure about it all. Mine will be submitted sometime next week. Maybe give Cigna a call and ask what's up? I plan on calling them often to make sure things are completed and getting done.

On the topic of Personal Trainers...

My husband has the beard too. I wouldn't mind it if he just tamed it down to his face, but it's all bushy like. Cannot stand it. My dad was in the military too. I haven't seen him with a clean shave in years either. Lol

On the topic of Personal Trainers...

Been trying to load it. Guess I've got to get home and do it on wifi. But I managed to watch one video about the "spot reducing". Lol. Drives me bonkers when people really think they can spot reduce their bodies. His explaining was funny for sure. I just want to shave his beard down. 😊
