Gastric sleeve time off work
Newme17 replied to kmmschaefer's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I took a week. I have a desk job and not a big office at all (a few steps here and there), but even in the week I was pretty tired for two or three of those days. All the walking you will be doing is great, but have expectations of possibly being very tired. Blessings on your journey! -

Smelled that earlier too. I wouldn't risk my life/health over food at this point anyhow. We will one day soon. 😊 -

Awesome. Love the keurig! 😊 Hey, is that a spiralizer? How is it? I have been looking for one but after so many reviews, I can't decide. -

After looking at the pic, man, there's still so much more to be done. But it's coming along. Sipping on a drinkable yogurt. Will have water and possibly a cup of coffee later. I went and picked up some Whataburger (burger chain here that everyone loves) for his dinner. Made a brownie cake (freebie from the store) for my girls and gave them ice cream on top that my husband bought. They can afford it; they're all slim. Lol. Thankfully it's not an everyday occurrence though. I kind of wanted to have a bite of the cake. Which is unlike me, because I'd rather have chips and queso. I believe I had moments of just wanting to have a regular meal, to be able to eat more than just 2 tbsp. I know it's all in my head though. Time to snap out of it. 😂 -

I didn't get to cook. My husband has been working on the backsplash all day. He's just now starting to clean up-will have to finish the little bit left tomorrow. So, I opted for more beans with cheese. Didn't care to try and work around the hubs, so...no pic of a nice meal today. Sorry folks! -

Hey y'all, what vitamins are you taking or did you buy to start taking? How's it working for you? Or not? -

I would totally send mine to you if I could find a pill small enough to take! Could be the Celebrate brand that we're having issues with. ??? Or maybe it's just our capacity for taking vitamins that are like horse pills/tablets. I've been wondering to even bother with them any longer and just find another now. -

Closing in on 1 year, plant based diet?
Newme17 replied to triplethreat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Following this. I'm actually going plant based with a few exceptions when I'm cleared for all foods, and I'm not even close to goal weight. Lol. There are many protein rich plants that you can add. Not as high as a bit of chicken and fish, but it's highly doable. I read a few posts somewhere here in BP from a few years back of a few people being plant based and having success, even in their "honeymoon phase". I tried to find it the other day but there was so many, I couldn't. If you search for PLANT BASED you'll find several do this. Hope you all the best with it. 😊 -

On another topic...I'm happy to say the backsplash is being installed by my hubby today. 😊 I'll show pics once he's completed. Mom planning to make shrimp/sausage and veggies tonight, if my hubby gets done in time. I'm looking forward to the veggies! I'll be sure to post a pic too. We all like pictures. 😂 -

Are you taking the tablets? If so, I'm taking those same ones. Twice a day. Big and bulky. I eat them in like ten bites and it's the last thing I want in my mouth. Just thinking of them is making me feel a little queasy. Have you figured what you would take instead? -

Me neither! I feel stopped up. That's why I'm hoping the green bombs will get to working. Especially before my post op appt on Wed. -
Normal not to loose weight on pre op?
Newme17 replied to Sparklez's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Weight loss is an added bonus during pre-op, now matter how many or few lbs lost. It's all for your liver. Just follow your plan and it'll be fine. -

I will only post here about two reservations I have about Keto. It's high fat. Healthy fat or not, I'm concerned about heart health down the road, amongst other things. And it's really is just another diet. Once you're off of it, you'll most likely gain your weight back. That's why I'm adopting a sustainable for life diet now. I don't want to "diet" ever again. But if that's what many people and you have considered, y'all have my blessing and I hope it goes well. 😁 -

I stopped looking so much. I hope op got frustrated. I don't care for calorie counting as you know and I'm thankful my doc office doesn't either. We are pretty safe when it comes to how much we're actually getting at this point post op, so I can assume that it's nothing to worry about now. I do know the exercise should be the minimum of walking until you're cleared to do more. Usually around 6-8 weeks I believe. My directions for protein isn't much and very doable. I hear upwards of 100 a day and that's just killing it in my opinion. Whether it works for them, that's great. Not me. Here are some guidelines from my nut. Feel free to go along, but always listen to your body too hon. -

Definitely this. My step daughter is my hardest child (we had custody of her). I'm sad to say, I'm relieved when she spending the night at a friend's house. Lol. She's 12 going on who knows what!? Like she knows everything. Drives me nuts. Some people actually get a break with step kids, I'm not one of them. I love her dearly and would adopt her anytime, just wish the bio mother would relinquish her rights. It'll make things easier. Now, I believe God put her in my life and I am to raise her. But if I had known all the headaches, I'm not so sure I'd pick to be a stepmom all over again. Kind of makes me sound like I regret, I don't. Just don't wish all the drama on anyone, whether they choose to or not. Does that make sense? And if you've been a step kid before, looking back, was there a lot of nonsense drama that could have been prevented? I wouldn't know. I'm the first in my family to carry the step title. Okay, back to WLS, lol. Had my premier protein with two green bombs. Success!!! I feel so much better having some veggies in my body. Going to make sure I add them everyday. I could use a bm. 😁 -

It was pretty good. The bowl I made would probably last for days. Lol. But I don't like leftovers, so I've got to probably freeze most things. -

Not so. I'm behind on my phases actually. I'm taking it pretty slow. As long as I tried fish and egg before Wed (which I did) then that's all. Lol. I'm sure the nut will have me try something else before the next. Salad will probably be last, but I will blend in veggies in my protein. Which I just did. 😊 -

Good morning. NordicTrack and Precor are the ones I know of that are pretty good. Provided you want to spend all the $1000...some might be in the $700 range though. Also depends on if you want all the extra gadgets on them too. You could always go with a cheaper one, under $500, but might need to really look in to reviews and how long they may last, etc. Do you have a fitness equipment store that allows you to try the floor model machines in your area? That would be a good way to determine as well. I don't like frothy drinks. I can imagine all the air already. lol. Bet it's good with the strawberries though. I'm eating cream of wheat with cocoa powder and stevia added. I need to add in my green bombs (frozen ice cube sized blended mix of kale, spinach, ginger, green apple, avocado, and cucumber) to a protein drink later. I miss my fruits and veggies...I'm actually cleared for them on Monday but I think I'll start early and see how it goes. -
I personally think it's ok to not eat when your not hungry!!! So if you're not hungry at breakfast time, that's ok. You'll break your fast (breakfast) a couple hours later. Why add calories in when your not hungry? That could lead to overeating in the future. My nut advises against eating just because it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner time. Eat when hungry. I believe you're fine. Now, with that said, if you find yourself not losing or gaining, then you'll need to add those calories when your hungry enough to eat. 😊 Oh and I'm not against adding a little protein to the coffee either. Just find what works for you hon.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Im sure someone here has experienced this and can chime in. Have you been able to talk with your surgeon about it yet? I believe and have faith you'll get past this...hang in there hon. Blessings to you. -
