  1. Sounds pretty good. When is your check up? Do you like ricotta cheese? Have you tried the ricotta bake? That is good. I also like adding unsweetened cocoa and some sweetener (of your choice) to ricotta. Like a dessert, if you've got a sweet tooth. Have you tried received beans with cheese? That's my absolute favorite. I could eat it everyday. Lol

You and me both hon. I don't mind being wrong, I actually embrace it after I get over being what little hurt I may have been (lol), it just makes me grow stronger. Obviously all my studying of nutrition in college didn't do much for me before I gained this weight, cause I didn't apply it to myself either. Lol.

I read the principles of intuitive eating. I don't see anything wrong with any of them actually. Unless y'all can pinpoint something in these principles that should be a no-no for the vast majority of people here, then ok, I don't mind accepting it for them for what it needs to be. Otherwise, I might use some of the principles. http://www.intuitiveeating.org/10-principles-of-intuitive-eating/

    Leaving dieting behind

Well then I guess I should educate myself on this "intuitive eating" more because I agree with what your saying here and that's what I've been saying all along. My intuitive eating is lean meats/grains and veggies, fruits. People are mentioning cheeseburgers and crap, that's not what I crave these days. @blizair09 I do agree with you. Challenge is good, but I also thought that she's found a way that works for her. I also don't know anything about past posts, lying, etc. So that's all new to me. People really need to judge for themselves as well. I know a lot of folks don't want to look for the answers themselves, they'd rather just hear it from someone else, that's what gets them in trouble. "I lost 50 lbs eating cheeseburgers!...you can too!" Folks really should think for themselves, and we can help steer them in he right directions too. But I do have to say, I am not all that educated with the degree of food addictions, so if the original post needs challenging, then so be it. I'm really not arguing with y'all at all. I'm open to correction if I need it. I could learn. 😊

    Leaving dieting behind

I think if someone has found a way that helps them, they should share. It's up to each of us individuals to monitor ourselves and how we would do with or without it. It's not up to us to contradict what is working for her, the OP. We should be congratulating her that she's found a way that helps her and each other, for whatever way we go.

    Leaving dieting behind

It works for her and for what she's gone through and how she maintains, I'm happy for her. Doesn't mean it'll work for everyone, like so many others have said and I do agree with that. I do believe it'll work for me as well. Thus I choose my words carefully and insert "for me" many times over in all of my posts, when I know many of my beliefs are going against the flow. I don't have a food addiction, never have (I didn't eat enough and ate the wrong things), and this is why I am with her on how she has found to maintain herself. Maybe there's more to the intuitive eating, but from what I read, it's basically what I'm doing as well. Not having to count. It's a personal preference. I'll educate myself on it though and see if there's anything other than what I understood from her post. I'm all for knowledge.
  7. Are your phases really that long hon? In two months to be able to eat? What have you been eating lately? We can give you some ideas outside of them. Let us know.
  8. So awesome!!! 26 lbs...and yes, dancing absolutely counts as an aerobic exercise!! Do you have the program Just Dance on a PlayStation or WII or something? That is a lot of fun and it's a great workout. But even just popping in some Latin music, or music of your choice, and moving is all it takes. Does your daughter like to dance? Y'all should have a dance off. 😊 Im happy it all went very well and you're having a great day!!

    Leaving dieting behind

This is what my docs office goes by. Eat when hungry only. We don't count calories, macros, protein, carbs. We make the conscious decision to choose the right foods and stop when content. I'm so with you. Wls is for a lifestyle, not another diet for me. The last thing I wanted to have to do is count anything after wls, what's the point? I could have done all of that before wls and obviously I wasn't successful as I have tried many times. Like you, I don't want to have be centered around food as I was before either. I need freedom and I will stay in it.
  10. I put muscle on fast too, and used to lift heavy as well. Now that I'm back at the gym, I will be lifting twice a week starting out, since I've been away too long from an injury and wls. My doc recommends 60-80g protein, so I'll stick to this, the 60 at minimum. Speaking of, do you find most people would guess you weigh less than what you really do, given that you have muscle? A friend of mine couldn't believe I'm 230 lbs. She thought I was 180'ish. Even the past, when I was 150, it was always guessed about 120. It's the way I carry my weight, great muscle. Give my credit to my dad's side of the family. lol
  11. Mine was 2 protein shakes, one for breakfast, one for lunch, and a sensible meal (protein/veggies). I was allowed some veggies, non-starchy, for snacks.
  12. Hon, you're due for a breakthrough!!!! Blessings on your consultation...keep us posted. I hope to hear some GREAT news!!!

    Sick and Tired

Wow, that's some nerve asking a question of the sort. Even if he was trying to joke, but it doesn't sound like it. My encouragement for you is to find a way to let negative comments roll off your back and not take it to heart. It's VERY HARD to do, because words can slice and dice us up, but if this is how people are in your community (area), than that's maybe what you might need to try to do??? Fight the depression, it wants to leave you in despair and you're too priceless to be wallowing in the dark. Everyone is.

    Vitamin MD patch

I just received them yesterday, I got sick and tired and nauseous taking the giant bariatric chewables. We shall see what my labs look like in a couple of months. I read most of the reviews on the BP store, nothing but good stuff--so I'm taking my chance. And if I'm lacking after 3 months, well, then I'll find a caplet of some sort.
  15. I miss every body here. 😔 Good night y'all. Hope all is going well for you.
  16. Oh hey, I'm gonna post before and after pics on a monthly basis. Keep them all in the same collage, so next Monday will be my before and one month post pic. 😊 Get ready! Lol

    What's on Today's Menu?

Breakfast: protein shake with green bombs and frozen fruit snack: handful of pistachios lunch: 2oz Hormel snack pack of smoked turkey and pepper jack cheese snack: 2 spoons of applesauce dinner: chorizo sweet potato skillet. (I squeezed the heck out of the chorizo...never seen such dry chorizo before. Lol) snack: protein drink (just finished a workout at the gym)
  19. So happy. I went to the gym. I listened to my body and I had to adjust the treadmill, the pain in my side was present. So I did a real slow, but graded walk for 45 mins. I also made it in to a circuit training, going back and forth with the grade percentage. My legs feel like I did a weight training workout. Exactly what I was going for. So I felt so good after that I decided to try working my triceps on a machine. So as I usually put a weight of 70lbs, I couldn't do it. 😕 So I went down 20lbs and that was comfortable enough. Did 4 sets of 12. Feels great, but I was really disappointed that I couldn't do my usual. I also have to take in account that I haven't done weights for a few months too, so... I did chest presses too, had to go down 10 pounds. I'm just happy I did something! Got to start small again, but that's ok. I know I'll be pushing that iron big later. 💪🏽😊🏋🏽‍♀️
  20. Hardest adjustment is head hunger. I think down the road, it'll just get easier. But we shall see!
  21. Well, I'm going to the one place I've missed all these last four months due to an injury and my wls. My wonderful GYM!!!!! I'm so ready...but I was advise to take it easy. Hmph...and so I will.

Took it well. I gave a detail in the thread. The manager looked at me as if he's seen a ghost. Lol. Says "hey stranger, where's your cute little one?" Haha. He thinks my 4 year old should be a little model. 😂

Getting into Exercise at Any Level

I love exercising! Before and after WLS. Great article. 😊
  24. If you don't lift, do light weights or body weights. Find a trainer, if needed, that will cater to you starting out. Weights will obviously put some muscle on and it will also change your physique too, in a great way. I'm starting my 4th week post op (surgery 5/15) and was cleared for body and light weights. Are you cleared for such? Also, this is your journey, try not compare yourself to anyone else's. We're all at different builds, heights, lifestyles, etc. with that said, you look awesome! Good job for your loss. Keep it up!
  25. Well y'all. Today marks the beginning of our 4th week post op. Does anyone have a new phase this week? I was given another list that is basically the same as my week 3 and I've already implemented some of the foods, approved by my nut. Apparently I'm supposed to be having about 3oz of protein already. I'm am definitely not there!!!! Maybe in about two weeks I might be able to. Anyone feel like they can eat more solids at this point? sorry it's sideways 😊
