    Whole grains?

I don't know if there's any difference with whole grains between RNY and the sleeve. But whole grains are good for you. They're complex carbs. They break down slow and your body processes them differently than simple carbs, they have fiber, protein, etc. My doc/nut encourage eating complex carbs...of which I do. Hasn't played any negative part in my weight loss journey either. Many of the whole grains have protein in them too, if that's an issue you may have thought of. Quinoa, Amaranth, Lentils, etc. These are great grains to eat. When in doubt, ask your nut.

    Bread

I haven't really had any cravings until yesterday, all I wanted was pork rinds. I'm in my 6th week post op. I think the longer you go without the bread, it'll get easier (and less cravings for it). Hang in there....there are alternative ways of having bread....have you tried making the cloud "bread"? I've never made it myself, but supposedly it's good...slap some low fat cheese or something in it and have yourself a cheese toast sandwich. Now, the wings...bake them. Don't eat the skin...and use some hot sauce (if it doesn't give you heartburn). Might just help with those cravings.
  4. Shoes make a HUGE impact. I replace mine probably every three to four months. I've had an injury due to wrong shoes too. My podiatrist was upset I was wearing Sketchers. I'm wearing them now. LOL Anyway, no shoes that can do a backwards or forward bend. They're the worse...even though they feel good. Don't kid yourself about me being more fit...LOL!!!!!! May or may not be, the fact is, you're running and enjoying yourself. Now, I might be able to beat you in arm wrestling, but hey, that's another sport that we don't have to do. HAHA! I too used to run during my skinny days. I would do about 5 miles/day, 3-4 times/week. I enjoyed it a lot. Now, why did I stop? SMH. I've done quite a bit of 5k runs too. Those are always fun. You should go to your local running shoe store (if you've got one) and sign up for a 5K now. It'll push you to keep on going!!! I'll be your biggest cheerleader...alongside your lovely family.
  5. Nope. Not at all. I do eat fresh cherries though. Haven't had any issues with the sugar content. I won't go overboard with it though, but it's great to have a bite of something and not get dumping. Maybe my stomach is healing pretty good to forego the dumping issue. ??? I don't care to check it, although I wasn't affected with the bite.
  6. I must have been too tired to catch them! LOL I didn't even notice.

    What are you saying?

Go educate yourself first about wls and then come back to me if you want to talk. (I did that with my brother. He came back and says "I'll support you")
  8. Have to be out of the house early today, I had my husband wake me up at 5am to workout. I woke up feeling pretty good actually. Not too tired or sluggish. I did my workout video, showered, and then got my girls up to get ready. I'll be focusing on my fluids once again today. In fact, I need to do this everyday. I won't worry about what I'm not eating, but what I may not be getting in fluid wise. I had an awful dream that my throat was so dry and I couldn't find a store to get a drink. Now, I'm pretty sure that dream was because my throat was pretty dry last night!!!! It was awful. I don't want a dream like that again. LOL Water it is today!!! OH....as I was working out in my pj's (best part of not having to go anywhere), my bottoms slipped down! LOL NSV!!! Ya'll have a blessed day! I'll check back in later.
  9. I think I'll start this when I get some more weight off. My knees and feet wouldn't be able to handle jogging just yet. Almost though. How's it going? Do you like it? Do you think you'll keep it up?
  10. Totally not wls surgery worthy....but the bite I had was awesome. Fresh cherries are in and $2.48 a pound. My family LOVES fresh cherries. I have them ready for their picking in the fridge. But they're not eating them as fast as usual, so I pitted about a pound of them and made a cherry cobbler for them. Of course they had vanilla ice cream on top! (I'm not an ice cream fan, so, it didn't affect me any). 😊 Now, if I could only figure out a way to make a very healthy version.....
  11. I would say if it keeps on, then call like Apple mentioned. Otherwise, I too have days when I feel like I'm stuffed after one ounce. It could be a whole slew of things, eating too fast, maybe eating too closely together, etc. I focused on my water one day and seems like everything went back to normal. Today I did lousy on water again, and felt the very same. So, in my opinion, and my experience, it's my lack of fluids. How is your fluid intake?

    Any vegetarians or vegans?

I'm getting there....going plant based. It's a process (trying to get my whole family on board).
  13. Not sure yet as I'm back to going to my lifestyle diet (plant based). But before the recent change, I was buying the Bumble Bee seasoned tuna packets and Rx bars. I also carry a can of Blue Diamond smokehouse almonds in my purse.
  14. Yesterday was my last Omeprazole pill.  Today I start my journey believing that acid reflux/heartburn isn't for me.  Certain types of food always brought it on before.  If I stay away, I should be fine.  Besides, I'm claiming it isn't for me.

So i decided to eat some diced peaches.  Totally forgot the one I have is sugar free and it's the worst tasting peaches I've ever had.  Took it to the trash.  NASTY!!!  Should have brought a fresh peach instead.

    Oatmeal it'll be.....

Thanks ya'll. I suspect it will as long as I don't do too spicy, acidic, or fatty (as I haven't been anyway). I'll keep ya'll posted if anything should arise, but I'm VERY hopeful it won't. :)

I finished my bottle of Omeprazole back at the end of May (I was not given instructions on how long to take it, so just finished the bottle). I haven't had any issues since. I'm sure you'll be fine too!

  15. Today was much better. I wore properly fitted clothes. Felt better about myself too. Went to church tonight and a young man my husband and I mentor says "whoa! You lost a lot of weight!" I just beamed. I then asked if he wants to join the Tough Mudder team. He said yes! Now my brother has me, my husband, and our friend. 💪🏽😊 Back in bed early tonight. I'm going to get up and workout before the kids are up. Definitely not a morning person, but it makes more sense to get it in then. I'm either super tired or get super busy in the evenings to workout all the time. We'll see how this goes...
  16. What is up with me. I ate some trail mix for lunch. but I ate it too fast....now I'm paying for it. Feel so gross. My fault, I seem to be letting myself get super hungry...which the doc told me not to do. I've got to change up my timing somehow I guess. I get so busy at work or home and just don't think about eating until it's too late.
  17. Well y'all, I made a big mistake today. I wore my largest shirt that I've had forever. It was a security shirt, if I may say. It's that time of the month and I just wasn't feeling like I lost any weight. (Dumb hormones) so I wore the shirt. Sure, I was comfortable all day until I got to my workout. I stood in front of the closet mirror and saw the old me (in the shirt). Started second guessing any progress and what not. Did my workout. Took a shower and yelled to my husband "I will never wear that shirt ever again!" 😊 Now as I'm sitting here on my bed, eating fresh cherries (yum), thinking how I better get my behind to the store and get some properly fitted clothes, all so that I won't play mind games with myself anymore.
  18. My youngest brother asked me today to do Tough Mudder with him next May!!! Everything inside me cringed.  LOL. Maybe ten years ago I would have said YEAH! I'm reminded just ow my words to him the other day (he works out with a Marine), "your body can do so much more then you think you can." I guess I should chew my own words and do this thing. Would you do it?

If it's a year away then you definitely have time to train. I think it's wonderful your brother asked you. You can do this!

Yeah, a year is plenty. I think I need to print out a poster and well, post it, somewhere so I'm always reminded. Thank you @MSinger!

  19. I am only one person. Wish there was something I can do. Just switching diets isn't going to help much for the society. Mine was all for physical reasons but now there are other reasons why I'm doing it. All I can do is help educate with proof. My proof will need to start with myself. I'm glad my bloodwork appt is coming up. I can definitely start there.
  20. Indeed they are. The documentary touches base on the antibiotics and hormones given to the animals. It's a very sad epidemic. Did you know that during WWII, the Nazis took away the farm animals from the farmers for their troops in hungary, I think. Left the families without meat. They had to rely on plant based meals. Three years of that, obesity went down and illness went down. When the war was over and the farmers resumed animals products in their diets, sickness and obesity went back up. I'll need to find the study to post a link.
  21. Yes, the raising of them is really sad, with cows and pigs too. Im planning not buying eggs anyway. We'll see if my husband is truly going plant based with me, without his eggs. 😂
  22. Focused on water today. Did great. Ate only about 550 calories though. Got to find a balance I guess.
  23. I'm am so fired up now. I watched a documentary on netflix. I love those things. Well, it's a new one that I know of, called WHAT THE HEALTH!? This just confirms my reasons for a plant based diet. I've thought to keep my chicken and shrimp on the menu, but I'm not going to anymore. Husband says he's been on board with me for plant based a few months ago. I still incorporate as much as I can, but have the "got to get your protein" notion in my head. So thus, the meats and eggs. I want to give up all dairy though, that means my favorite, cheese!!! So, I might consider once every quarter for a cheesy dish, or slowly eliminate cheese. I've already replaced cow milk with almond milk, but my husband reintroduced it back to the kids during my recovery phase, now I've got to take it back out. Besides all that, this documentary shares the science and physiology of how human bodies are made, work, etc. Also shares how diabetes is actually formed. It blew me away!!!! I don't want to give it all away here, please watch the video if you can. It touches on different industries, the government's roles, the association of diet and diabetes/cancer, and wonderful stories of people going plant based and what it has done for their bodies in just a short time of their lives. It's amazing. Hope y'all can watch it. Be inspired!!!
