  1. I told my husband that last week. Feels like I had nothing done too. Lol Have a great time at the BBQ tomorrow. Deviled eggs sound real good right now. 👅
  2. My neighbor and I have agreed to walk together at least three times a week, starting tonight. I'm excited cause we really don't know each other and it'll be great getting to do so. She's lost about 40 lbs on her own since Jan. I'm extremely proud of her. My hope is that we encourage each other to keep on at it and keep on walking!
  3. Went to the movies with my hubby this morning. (We're taking advantage of a kid-less day) I did have some popcorn (no extra butter--never get that stuff anyway) and no, it wasn't the end of the world!! Lol. I enjoyed every little bite I had (obviously it wasn't much). I did not die. I did not gain a lb and I did not crave more either. It was good. 😁

I agree an empty theater makes it even better☺️.

It is so important to make time for yourselves as a couple. My dh and I have definitely gone long stretches without especially when our kids were still at home, but we make time now at least once a month.

Enjoy the rest of your kid free afternoon!

  4. Sugar is not my problem (I don't eat/drink dairy). I also don't have a set point of sugar grams set by my nut either). I do/am responsible for what I choose though. I've shared part of my story and I'm fine. Can't speak for everyone here. Just so you know.
  5. At the advice of the surgeon, I took MOM four days after surgery. Probiotics has kept me regular too. 😁

    Coffee after gastric sleeve

I started coffee back up about 3 weeks post op. Currently I love cold brew and drink the Chameleon brand mixed with a premier protein chocolate shake and ice. So good.
  7. I would listen all day too. 😊 My brother is going to Brasil for his second year, but he came back the first year stating that we don't know how to celebrate. lol. Guess it boils down to the US being so mixed up in cultures and not having the history to keep culture traditions.
  8. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I appreciate it very much. I would love to know how the Peruvian culture is. I think you may have said there's similarity without hispanics. But now I'm intrigued...I'm going to look it up. 😊 Food looks delish too. update: so it is very similar. Awesome! Peruvian culture is a beautiful mix of Hispanic and native traditions. The Quechua and the Aymara are the two main native cultures of Peru, both of whom speak their native languages. These Inca descendants have successfully preserved and developed their proud cultures despite the creeping in of globalization.
  9. Hello all. It's been a busy couple past days. Been working on the finishes to the kitchen. Today was church, out to eat with my folks. Of course I didn't order. I just picked from my hubby's plate. I enjoyed that. Lol. Ran errands. Made a cake with my two youngest. Laid down cause I was tired and ended up sleeping for three hours!!! I usually never take naps! Did some grocery shopping and now relaxing. My mom told me today that she was looking at the gastric sleeve surgery. I was excited to hear it. Her doctor told her that he would recommend the surgeon I have, but she then said, no one will do a surgery on a cancer patient. THAT BROKE MY HEART! 😔 So my prayer for my mom is this, SHE's FULLY HEALED FROM LUNG CANCER. NO TRACE OF IT EVER IN HER BODY. IN JESUS's NAME. AMEN. She's been overweight all her life and have all kinds of problems from it. She needs a break and that's my hope. She just overcame the large blood clot in her lung, she'll overcome the cancer too.
  10. Mmmm, I enjoyed the ricotta bake I made early in the journey. Haven't made it sense. Adding beef is good. I bet it was yummy. How much do you think you're eating? I still can't seem to eat more than 2 oz at a time. Sometimes it's only and ounce and I feel like I over ate. But also, I've been eating too fast and think it's mostly that. Been off the ppi here for a few days. So far so good. Have you had heartburn, reflux?
  11. What's a measly 7g sugar gonna do with the 30g of protein? Follow your protein and all else should fall in place....but Iearned to not count anyway. Hasn't affected my weight loss anyway. That's my story...
  12. I've always known to have a healthier alternative at fast food places, but I usually always caved to something I shouldn't have. Now, I'd do what you did; but haven't had any since surgery. Great job by the way. Its amazing how much walking you're getting in. You should probably see a big difference number wise. I need to get in gear. This weekend has been busy but not as busy (exercise wise) as I'd like to have it. Hope you have a great morning jog! 👟

    Concerned Mom

    @Ance Tears of joy!
  14. I'm 5'6" and 38. I just picked 145, just cause it fits in the healthy range. But I'm fine at 160 or so. Depends also on how much you decide to put in regarding muscle. Although I'm aiming for a lower number (to get healthy), that number won't be my actual goal.

    stretching exercises

The above poster wrote what I would have written! Same story. Just be mindful and listen to your body.

    Who does races?

Ditto what everyone else says! I am not doing any running until I lose some more weight, but I am signing up to do a Tough Mudder next year. Have you considered one of them, maybe? There's no race, just a lot of fun, mud, and obstacle courses. LOL Training is involved with this as well. Have fun with your races!!

    Didn't tell my sister

@kheter55 I read my sister all over your post. She's 40. I actually don't even know where she's at. But anyway, I didn't tell her either in the beginning. I did at one point and nothing really good came out of her mouth. She's bipolar too, etc...a lot of mental problems. The only thing that I can encourage you about is...move on, and to move on is to forgive your sister for the things she's said. You can do this inside; doesn't mean you have to tell her this--most likely she wouldn't take it right anyway. This will allow you to have peace. She's your sister...love her but it doesn't mean you have to talk/share with her. Just don't hold the grudge; it'll help you in the long run. Blessings to you hon.
  18. Good morning ya'll. Today's agenda, work on the kitchen (yep, still doing it). Take the kids to the pool for a couple of hours (that'll be my workout). Come back and work on the kitchen some more. Fix a yummy plant based dinner (not sure what). Go grocery shopping and have my brother and a few friends come over tonight for some games/fellowship. Oh, and go meet up with a few ladies who all just had the sleeve done recently at the bookstore. I'm excited to hear how they are doing. Hope you all have a fantastic and blessed day!!!
  19. Oh and the bras...yeah, very expensive. I think I'll stick to walmart ones for now until I reach maintenance. Im happy my cups are going down too. Totally don't like or miss being heavy chested. I always had headaches and it gets way too hot underneath the breast. It was just awful.
  20. That's the spirit!!!!! I'm so happy to hear that. The scale always goes up when I'm doing weights, etc. Then it'll start going back down. Muscle is being built, yeah!!
  21. Isn't that just nice? I'm happy for you. I wore a large shirt for the first time in a long time the other day. It was a tad snug, but loose enough for me to slide on and move in. I'm not advancing to large indefinitely right now, but it was a nice change.
  22. I loved the Bariatric Advantage calcium chews until two days ago....all I taste is a metallic chemical taste. So gross. Guess I'll be changing my calcium here too.

My treat will be coconut cream pie once I get to goal. I hope it still tastes good.😊

I guess a change in taste for the foods that aren't necessarily good for us is a good thing....LOL. We shall see....

      MSinger

Well, I used to love ice cream pre-op and ate WAY too much of it, so maybe this is a mixed blessing. I just wish my taste buds would have changed their little minds BEFORE I paid for Halo Top. That stuff is expensive!

    Bread Products!

This is the one I eat. It's not sweetened and loaded with whole grains.

    Bread Products!

I have COMPLEX carbs on my plan and they don't interfere with how I'm losing weight. Key....COMPLEX carbs. Tortillas, breads, rolls...usually are made with simple carbs--those will hinder loss and can cause cravings. But COMPLEX carbs are not bad for you. I've said it once before somewhere...if you're eating a bowl of oatmeal (not the store bough packaged kind) and or even lentil soup, are you still craving more oatmeal and lentils afterwards? No. Big difference between complex and simple. But again, answering your question, I'd stay away from the simple carbs for a while (till maintenance even) and that's if you're working it off like @Introversion does.
