If you still drink 1 shake a day...

I have one for breakfast, or whenever I finally start getting hungry for the day. I add cold brew coffee with it. Usually keeps me full for a while cause I drink it pretty slow and drink water in between. I count it as a meal. I tend to be hungry every three hours too and don't always include high protein sources. The shake just helps me get there easier.
  2. I will have to do this. Thank you.
  3. I need some help. These past few days I've been eating way too fast. I HATE the feeling I have afterwards but I don't seem to just "get the fact that I have a tiny stomach and cannot take it fast". Just tonight I ate some pistachios. Just a few too many and now I'm feeling like I want to throw up but it just doesn't happen. I don't know why I keep doing this. I might need to get my husband to help remind me that I must eat slower or actually get the scale out and measure no more than 2 oz of food per meal. If I feel hungry still, I can proceed with caution. Are y'all weighing your food, every meal? I can't stand do to it but I will until I learn.
  4. I have to agree. My climb is a little different, I think if I was still the 25 year old who had the mindset of healthy eating, etc, it'd be easier to do and keep off. I've changed (almost 40) and my life has changed that I needed this reset. I technically could lose the weight, but that would entail me to really put my kids, hubby, work, everything I've got on the back burner and focus solely on myself. I don't have time for that like I did at 25. Even now, I'm still juggling my WLS diet and exercise around my family; but it's the push I needed to reset and keep weight off.
  5. Doc had me go straight from liquids to soft foods basically. My first food was a scrambled egg as well. It went down very well. So I think you're just fine. 😊
  6. Ah thank you hon. I stay inspired being here and encouraging others the best I can as well. Thanks again!!
  7. Monster muffins were a hit. My four year old ate three. My seven year old ate one very cautiously. Lol. 12 year old eats just about anything. These will definitely be made again. Next muffin will be a chickpea banana nut muffin. Little do they know....muahahahahahaha!!!
  8. I can't say the word SPINACH. So, my four year old and I made some Monster Muffins. Lol. Pics in a few mins......
  9. I think this is a great analogy! I started climbing my mountain many times only to get injured and fall down to the beginning. 😁 Decided many times it wasn't worth it. Until I decided I really need to do some preventive care before I hit 40 next year....I was a "healthy" fat person...and wouldn't have been for long if I didn't do something about it. Happy climbing y'all!

    Saying Hi: 6 years out

Wow. Amazing. 6 years and still going. Hey, what's that tat say on your forearm? Is it Hebrew???
  11. That's an awesome deal. I'd totally be on board with that. Lol
  12. I would love to incorporate swimming but there aren't any lap pools close by really. And I'd love to learn to do the front stroke, etc properly too. I can swim but I guess I should take some lessons too. But I've thought to find out where water aerobics might be.
  13. I pray that too. Peace will get you through anything, no matter how dire the situation may be.
  14. Amazing!!!! Great job hon!

    Signs youre full?

I'm seven weeks out this week. I tend to burp when I'm content. I get the stuck feeling in the throat and the sensation that I'm going to throw up if I eat one too many bites or eat too fast, which is most likely overeating. Are you grazing? I've also experienced where I'll eat a bit or two and feel full and be hungry a bit later when grazing--which tends to be head hunger as well. When I really listen to my hunger cues and eat properly, I am hungry about every three hours.
  16. I think I'll go to the bookstore and find the book PROTEINAHOLIC by Dr Garth Davis.  I just read some accounts of his patients being on a plant based diet and being very successful.  I even read that his points are very valid about the amount of protein we have all been lead to believe we need.  I'm super excited, because I've been trying to do plant based for a while now and I've got the support of my husband who wants to go plant based as well.  Now, I have to get very creative for my kiddos.  The easy part with them is that they tend to not eat meat anyway.  I've got to sneak veggies and legumes in...LOL  LIke black bean brownies.  They'll for sure eat those!  I HOPE!!!!

I'm gonna look this up too. I'm hoping to do a plant-based diet once I'm 6months out. I ate that way before and felt great, just had a little trouble getting my proteins in. Thanks for mentioning it!

You're so welcome @MSinger! I noted on another thread I felt awesome doing plant based pre-op. I wasn't on for long since my surgery was in the works, but I've been slowly incorporating more plants these days and will be opting this for my lifestyle diet.

Btw...didn't get to the bookstore!!! Waaa! Maybe tomorrow after work. 😉

Oh I hear that plant-base diets are the best. I know veganism has some major benefits. Good luck and congrats on the support.

  17. I had heartburn before the sleeve due to choices of food. My gastroenterologist placed me on a bland diet. Probably not the best for a sleever, but if you can somehow make food choices VERY bland, that should help. Don't eat anything 2-3 hours prior to laying down too. Not sure what else other than start with your diet and see if it lessens. If not, then you'll have to figure another option. Hope you get better hon.

    Finally back in the gym!!!

Happy 4th to you too. Congratulations on your journey. Amazing!
  19. Thank you so much Sweet! It is stressful at times, but the one thing that is great through it all is my mom's attitude. She says she's in a win-win situation and has nothing to fear. She wins if she goes "HOME" early to be with the Lord and she wins if she stays here and has more time with her grandchildren. (Note...she never said children. LOL...guess she's got enough of us! haha!!!). She told me not too long ago that she's at peace whether she has the cancer or not, because she knows that God is with her through it all. She just has to keep her faith and trust in Him. He's a good God, he didn't give her the cancer, He is not capable of evil of any kind, and so we are all keeping the HOPE alive. Thank you again for your kind words!
  20. It was! I was so tired though, I admit I didn't want to do it at first, but I saw how the girls were so eager to crack open an egg and mix, etc. My seven yr old even put on an apron my mom had made for my stepdaughter years ago. It was too cute. I still wish my 12 yr old would do something...lol. You're truly blessed with your girl.
  21. The science behind it all is amazing. I'll learn all I can with this. I do know from experience the couple of weeks I did strictly plant based before surgery, I did feel amazing. I'm terrible with logging down numbers, etc....but I'll be sharing here of course.
  22. So, I'm going to find the book Proteinaholic by dr Garth Davis. He's a bariatric surgeon based in Houston who has his patients on a plant based diet. According to calculations, my body only needs about 45g of protein a day, which I would totally get through my Whole Foods plant based diet. This is something I want to bring up to the nut. Similar to Dr Weiner's ways of eating too. I showed my husband before and after pics of men doing high proteins and exercise vs plant based and exercise. The latter are always more firm and cut. The men also state they have better energy, stamina, etc. goes the same for women. I'm thankful my hubby is on board with me. I think that packet of tuna I ate so fast earlier is definitely the last tuna I'll be having. I had already shopped for our meals this week, all plant based. (And its cheaper too!)
  23. I sure hope my mom will be too. There's hope!
  24. Really? They operated on her with the cancer? or so you know if she was in remission? My mom is stage 4, slow growing cancer in the lungs that originated in her uterus. I'm wondering if it's also the location and what type, etc. I can see maybe if it were breast cancer it might be easier to do. But lung, another issue. We need to be able to not get pneumonia, etc afterwards.seems like homework for me. 😊
  25. I did exactly what my surgeon told me not to do. Been working on the kitchen. Then left to get my kids and swim lessons. I didn't eat. By the time I got home I was raving hungry. Ate a packet of tuna...WAY TOO FAST. I don't think I even chewed it. This is the worst I've ever felt after eating. Smh. All I want to do is drink some water, make it go down, but I know I'd feel worse with it. Sigh....lesson: don't wait too long to eat. Seems like I don't have slow eating down. It was easy when I felt funny after surgery. Now I don't, so...seems like I forget a lot easier.
