  1. This must be why I still do my workouts ignoring the pain anyway....I don't do vigorous ones, cardio wise, and my pain stay relatively low. If it's too high, there's no way I'm working out. Glad you weighed in on this...
  2. Guess what!?  I haven't had a single bout of heartburn/acid reflux since being sleeved and changing my lifestyle diet to plant based.  AMAZING!  I believe it has to be the diet more than just being sleeved, since I've read that so many are having issues with it after being sleeved.  Makes you wonder...huh?  ;)

They do. My mother is one and she will say so herself too. She's slowly changing up some things, not much, but I can see the struggles..so I have to have some amount of compassion, but also enough is enough mentality too. Hard to treat...but totally treatable if the person is open to it.

We have a society that encourages gluttony though, so that makes it even harder

Honestly, it is over eating that causes the GERD in my opinion. My GERD is a foamy, hot pressure in my stomach and throat. This only happens when I accidentally overeat something or something that I put a little too much spice in. However, I am soo happy that you have not had any heartburn. It is a huge relief.

  3. I second every one else. I don't work in a corporate office anymore, but I know the challenges, I fell prey to all of office food laying around in the past. Now, I'm so thankful my boss is all about eating right/health and there's only 3 others in the office, who aren't really here, so it's just me. I don't have that challenge, but those who do, I commend you all for beating it! You've all come so far, wherever you are on your journey to let it go. Keep up the great work!
  4. Tackling it head on...that's strength and a good fight. Good for you!
  5. Seems like I wrote that myself! Although Wed and Sundays are my rest days too, lol, I missed Tuesday and so I was going to go Wed and I missed that too!!! LOL Back at it yesterday and definitely tonight and tomorrow.
  6. I have hip bursitis. In fact, it hurts now and most days. I do my best to not work it, so I do weights mainly. It hurts pretty bad when inflamed. Rest makes it feel better. The worse thing you can do is exercise it..it'll get more inflamed and hurt even worse. Rest it. This advice is from the doc and my lovely father who practices physical therapy. I know your MT was probably meaning well but that was the worst advice for an inflamed bursa!! I had tests and numerous appts over this...please rest it. I can't stress that enough Unfortunately, weight isn't what causes it, its repetitive movement. I believe mine is from all the years of working out, did the elliptical like a machine for a long while too. Im praying it just gets healed. Although I WAS taking pain meds for it and doing physical therapy. Even got a cortisone shot that helped, but that doc says "do more PT first, if it doesn't help, then come back" well, I don't like PT so I haven't been back. It was painful but I know I should go back. Anyway, I'm trailing on...sorry. Hope you find comfort.
  7. Wow. I totally see it too!!! Amazing. You're doing what I love! I hope you do too. 😊Keep it up!
  8. Sooo.....Proteinaholic...oh man...if it doesn't get you thinking about health, about the western diet, and how we're so consumed about protein protein protein, I don't know what will. This book is so interesting!!! I highly recommend everyone to read it. Granted I'm only on the 3rd chapter but I've gotten so much out of it so far. It really makes you think about how obesity, diabetes, high blood pressures, and many other illnesses and diseases are factored from diet. I know this goes against the grain of almost all bariatric programs, nevermind....I want to go on, but I think with tidbits from me (and I will share), if anyone is truly interested, you should get the book. I was afraid it might be a boring like medical book. It is not. It's very easy to read and it's so on point, it's almost ridiculous of how we don't or didn't see it before...but we tend to go with what everyone else says, right? I'm just amazed at how far I've come with being open to the science behind plant based eating. I never thought it'd be me, definitely never thought it'd be my husband!!! Everyday he continues to say how well he feels. It's just amazing. Read the book! http://proteinaholic.com/

    Wow! You're amazing. Great job!
  11. I really don't know since I haven't had to use them. I'd call your team just to be sure.
  12. I don't think you are either. Maybe to try adding a little something more, maybe a few complex carbs, as these won't make you want to eat more, but give you some good carbs in your body. Have you talked with your nut? Do you have an appt coming up soon too? youd be surprised about folks adding different foods to their diets and seeing stuff moving. If your inches are going down though, I wouldn't worry too much on the number on the scale. Eventually it'll catch up too.
  13. I was told to use milk of magnesia. I only used it onc though in the very beginning. I seem to be pretty regular these days.
  14. This is AWESOME news!!! I'm very glad to hear it...diabetes didn't have any right to be messing with your body in the first place. WHOO WHOO!!!!
  15. Pre op BMI 41, size 20 Post op BMI 35, currently, size 16ish....based on exercise/yoga pants.
  16. I love how much my grocery bill is lowered. I haven't really done the restaurant thing since surgery. When we do go, I don't order. It's either I'm not hungry or I just eat a few bites of my family's....the portions are really just too big, even the kids portions are. I do like eating my little portions too. I think it also helps me to realize that food isn't going to be my crutch. It's just enough to get my body fueled and I should learn to enjoy that little bit too.
  17. What are you eating daily? Sometimes 1-2 hundred more calories would break a stall. One lady recently couldn't break it, she was working out everyday and then some. She took the advice of slowing down and resting a couple days out of the week and the stall broke. So, it's finding that right balance to learn how to break one.
  18. Yeah, you can get it there. I just finished it. It's short and sweet ending and full of truth. I hope you enjoy it!

    Making Exercise Easier

Absolutely! My dad always talks about this. He's been telling me this for the past ten years. He does PT for a living. Always about health and how the body is designed to move. Still to this day he does his weights and cardio most everyday. He's 63 now. despite the weight I added on the past 9 years, I give credit to my dad for instilling exercise in to me. I would work out with him as a child and go for long walks on the beach with him when I was a teen. He would put me on a weight lifting program (at my request) at the gyms I enrolled in during my 20's. He did well with me on this and I'm glad I at least have the love to work my body. I'm sorry bout your mom. I hope mine gets healed from cancer fast so she can have wls too. I can't stand to see her struggle moving and don't want to see her have to rely on a motorized chair. She's 60 now. Indeed, they are/were way too young!!!
  20. Does anyone purposely go to bed hungry or do you eat if you're hungry right at bedtime? I've always ignored the hunger and went to bed. It's not acid reflux (haven't had any, praise God!), but real genuine hunger. I could eat anything right now. In the past (healthy days), I learned to just go to bed, something to do with making the metabolism work/calories burn, etc. don't remember exact science. Also in the past (non healthy days) I thought I'd be hungry and would end up eating a snack before bed. But that was refux.  So even though I'm genuinely hungry now. I wouldn't even want to start up that terrible old habit I had. I think I posted my status out of even thinking of getting something to eat, even if it's healthy.

I know people are iffy on eggs, but they are such a good reset food. Lots of protein, lower calorie... I feel bad for folks whose sleeves don't agree with eggs because they are such a good food source.

    Making Exercise Easier

    I enjoy lifting weights!!
  23. Received my Proteinaholic book today! CNt wait to dig in, but I'm going to try and finish a small fiction book written by a woman from my church. Based off of her life, from being human trafficked from such a young age to how she got out. She now works in a ministry to help others who are in it. So far I've cried. It's called HELLO NAVI. I bought it at church after she gave part of her testimony, but it's on Amazon too. I've attached a pic. Back to wls news....nothing out of the ordinary diet wise today. My husband was rubbing my feet when he said my feet aren't as hard. Huh? So this is weird. Before I was always having to lotion up my feet, seemed like I couldn't keep moisture. Now I still do but yes, they're softer. Sooooo, could this be wls related or what? I don't know, but I'll take my not so hard feet!! Lol Next week I've got to go get blood work done. Then the week after I'll have my three month post appt. Seems like we've been stuck in the second month forever. Or am I getting it all wrong....we are in our third month??? Wait, 1 may to june 2 june to july 3 july to August ok. We're in our third. I was confusing myself. Lol
  24. It's nice hearing "your legs are smaller" My hubby told me this on my way out to the gym. Had to look for myself...I guess he's right. :)
