May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!

So, I decided to try out my wedding ring...and it doesn't fit. BUT, it's down a bit more on my finger than what it could do before; so I'm happy about that. I decided to weigh myself, curiosity got me, I'm now 212. Then I thought, "oh man, I've been NOT wearing my wedding ring for a long time!!!" for it to not fit at 47 lbs down from my highest weight. Not cool. All in due time. Ten more days ya'll....and we'll be officially three months in from our surgery, starting on month four! Nice. Doesn't even feel like I had it anymore. I just eat (albeit, not much) and go on with life. I love it! Still reading my Proteinaholic book....and I'm sooooo happy I've come across it. It's an eye opener for sure. Hope you all have a blessed day! I'll check back in later. -
My gastric sleeve journey so far with pics

I actually mouthed W-O-W!!! What an AMAZING transformation!!!! -
You're welcome hon. I too, was eating a lot of eggs and cheese just to get "protein" in. I'm still reading the book and I'm so happy to have the truth. You wrote everything that I've been experiencing as well...basically freedom. My husband says it is deception; that we were deceived to believe the animal protein/high protein diet. Well, I don't like being lied to, get this...by those who are being lied to. HA!

What a good looking bunch! Looks like ya'll just finished an activity??? LOL I am quite sure your stall is broken. At least you're having fun!!!! -
I googled him and he was on the documentary What the Health. Pretty funny too. That documentary really sealed the deal for my husband to go all in. I'll definitely be checking it all out.

You're welcome and thank you for your suggestion on Dr Greger. I'll be sure to note his book down and check him out as well. You explained it a whole lot better than me in my previous post about researching. LOL Thank you for this!

My surgeon says that despite the amount of protein you get, you'll still lose hair. You could do 100g and still lose hair, do 40g and still lose it. I looked up the science of hair loss after wls and although your diet can play a part in helping, it's almost inevitable simply due to stress/hormones our bodies are going through. Currently, I'm losing hair and a lot of it. But I'm busy telling myself and reassuring myself that it's just temporary and I'll be fine on my plant based diet, because there's really not too much more I can do to change it. let me find the article and I'll post it. https://www.drdkim.net/ask-the-dietitian/understanding-hair-loss-after-bariatric-surgery/

Constipation with gastric sleeve
Newme17 replied to Dashayj's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
I took milk of magnesia once. Then incorporated probiotics daily. Been regular since. Also, ya got to make sure you're getting your liquids in too. I know it's hard, but it sure does help. -
Analogy on how to basically dissect studies Dr Davis uses is pretty interesting. About a picture as a whole is made up of hundreds of pixels. Each study/article/trials of the subject you're researching is just one of the pixels. So, don't get stuck on one pixel as the truth, when it's not showing you the whole picture!!! He explains it way better than me. Lol. Most people, including myself, get duped (or deceived!!) in the latest findings of health. I now have a broader scope of questions when it comes to articles, what's on the media, etc. He writes to be on guard (im paraphrasing) when it's a "new" diet or craze, most likely written by a journalist, not a doctor nor a nutritionist. Even if it were a doc/nut, still, do your research (even his) the best you can. So many of the findings are biased too, being paid by the sponsored company, etc. I'm just glad he explains all the work (science) in the book because I wouldn't know where or have access to look for myself.

Don't have FB, but my husband does, so I'll have him join so I can check it out! Thank you!!

You have a good mom! Haha! 😉 142, huh? I was probably 22 years old last time I saw that number!!! Lol. I don't really have a goal. Just threw a number down (150, I think) cause it seemed most likely for my height. Lol. I was thinking to myself the other day, if I ended up right here, (not even sure what I weigh now--cause I don't use the scale), then I'll be fine knowing that I'm feeding my body good food that can heal and prevent diseases, etc. if I have to guess, I might be about 210ish??? Could be more or less, who knows. If I am indeed 210ish, then I will be 59 lbs down from start, 34 from surgery. But like I said, I have no clue! Anyway, I've been researching and focusing on a plant based diet. I've read so much about animal proteins that I'm giving them up. I knew I wanted to be plant based before wls, and tried, but now I'm doing it totally. Loving it too. I feel so much better. My body thanks me. 😊 At my age it isn't so much about my look anymore. Sure I'd love to be fine, my hubby thinks so anyway, that's all that matters, but I'm focused solely on my health. Thus why I said I'd be ok where I am if I know my insides are good. Now, I know I'll end up losing more weight, which is great. So it's a win win for me. Yay! now, to get those greens in hon. 😁 -

I can only imagine not being sick for a long while and then getting hit with it, it would seem like it's got you this time. If you can, throw more green veggies in your diet. I've been learning about the science of plant based diet and our health...it really is nature's medicine. -

I hope you a speedy recovery hon. I'm sorry to hear of it. When I think of being ill I can't remember the last time that happened to me. ??? Kind of weird, cause I was always getting sick, like the queen of being sick. I hope you're able to get past this soon. I'll send some prayers your way hon. -
A report called "Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and the Prevention of Cancer: A Global Perspective" was produced by Kaiser, the American Institute of Cancer Research, and the World Health Organization. It concluded to reduce the consumption of meat. "There was a clear correlation between meat consumption and many forms of cancer." They recommend diets of mostly plants. pg140 I've seen and heard many reports of people going plant based who were diagnosed with cancer. The cancer has either shrunk or went away following such. The main reason why I had wls is for preventive measures of what obesity does. I've said it many times on here in different threads, my mother is obese and has cancer, diabetes, etc. I've vowed that I will not follow in her footsteps. I'm thankful I am open to change and that I ran across this book, other's personal experiences here on BP, and documentaries that helped push me in the right direction regarding my diet. I know now that I'm going the right way too.

Where are all my May 15thers!?!? Hope you all are doing well! -
Dr Davis has some recipes in the back of the book that I haven't gotten to yet. But I did make a grain bowl last night that is super yummy if anyone is interested. I will be posting plant based recipes from time to time. This website, budgetbytes, is my usual go to. If anyone wants to share, please do! Here's last night's dinner (I used red quinoa instead): https://www.budgetbytes.com/2017/05/sweet-potato-grain-bowls-green-tahini-sauce/ a pic always makes it look better...

Awesome!

US has failed miserably at saving it's people through nutrition. It is unfortunately up to us, the people to do diligence in spreading the word, researching, and sharing the awesome health benefits of a plant based diet. I am so thankful for the doctors who are for their patients and handing out the right nutrition. They (and we) what will save our citizens.

Awww! That means a lot to me. Although I have decided to take back my health and be in charge for myself, I have another goal and that's to be an inspiration and encourager to others. Thank you for your kind words and I do believe you will be successful too. Stick around hon, I'd love to see what changes you'll be experiencing in the new chapter of your life. 😊

What is everyone taking to stay regular?

There's a great amount of truth to "Eat an apple a day, keeps the doctor away." -

My guess is that your stall will break while you're camping. You'll be breaking your normal routine and your body will respond to the shock that you aren't doing your normal thing. Just as if you continued your normal routine and decided to add or subtract something, whether diet/exercise. I can almost bet on it. So, enjoy your camping trip and try not to think about anything other than having fun. When you get back, I want to hear all about it! ....oh, the thread is awesome. I suspect you'll enjoy it.
