  1. I had to chuckle....at least you found the positives throughout this all, your stall breaking. LOL Still hoping the best for you hon. I pray this is over soon too.
  2. An open mind is good to have. It allows for growth and humbleness. I have always been that way, I'm open for change and always open for correction. I want to walk upright in my life with truth. I'm going to watch the video when I can, looks interesting. Thank you for sharing!
  3. Thank you both, @fatima635 and Apple1.
  4. Hey y'all. My husband forwarded a family pic to me today with the question "can you see the difference?" My jaw dropped. I was probably my heaviest here at 266. I almost can't believe that's me. I surely didn't feel that big, but I was. I'm so thankful I had wls and I changed my diet. Sorry I edited my darling, beautiful children out, but too many weirdos online these days. lol I may share in a pm though. My hubby is grown and can take care of himself. haha!😊 Now I couldn't find a current pic cause I haven't been taking any. So I guess I'll do one tomorrow perhaps.

    Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis

*********MEMO*********** tune in tomorrow! Let's support one of my new favorite doctors, Dr Michael Greger ! Thank you @fruitandveggies!!! My husband sent this to me earlier today : **************************** My first PBS TV special on "How Not To Die" will be premiering Tomorrow- Tuesday, August 8th at 8 pm ET. You'll be able to watch the livestream right on NutritionFacts.org! https://nutritionfacts.org/live/ For those in the Detroit area, you can also view it on Detroit Public Television. This is the first pilot screening. The better it does, in terms of viewership and pledges, the more stations across the country will pick it up in the Fall. Fingers crossed!

I wish I weren't just a simple gal with simple words; by I am me and I don't need to change who I am, but if only I could make it sound so much better if I wrote how the docs do. Lol. From what I've been learning....if I could even say it right (someone else, help!!) is that the grains raising your blood sugar is a symptom of diabetes; not the cause. Those sugars/carbs could not process correctly due to inflammation and fats in the bloodstream; which is then insulin resistance. By eliminating animal proteins that cause the inflammation and saturated fats, then your body will be able to work correctly in breaking down those grains and legumes. Garth explains the science of how our bodies breakdown animal proteins WAY BETTER THAN ME. So, don't take my every word, just in case. Haha!

Yay!!! Sounds like a great first day! Keep that walking going the best you can too. It'll help immensely. 😁
  9. I am totally plant based now, for about 3-4 weeks consistently. I eat heavy on the complex carbs, grains, legumes, etc. I eat a good amount of veggies too. Haven't really gotten in to fruit, but I do incorporate it. It hasn't changed my weight loss, I'm still losing. My loss has taken the back seat in regards to my focus being solely on how healthy I will be/am on the inside. I could be a very healthy weight and be dying on the inside and I just cannot accept that. I even told my husband, if I stay at this weight, 212 now, and keep my plant based whole foods diet, I could be very happy knowing that I'm preventing disease and just darn healthy. But the bonus is the this point, I still lose weight. Kudos to your daughter for wanting to go vegetarian, it'll help her body in the long run and for starting so early.
  10. I believe He is! You will be amazed about chapter ten...diabetes. I want to share so much but don't want to botch it up trying to or make it sound like I'm just picking something to put fear in anyone. That's why I have the Proteinaholic thread. If I could post all of that chapter I would. Lol. i cannot wait till I hear it from you...the GASP!!!

    May 18 surgery

Most people won't agree with me, but if I have a craving, I eat a bite so my craving is satisfied. But, I also did not have an eating disorder/addiction previously and I'm a plant based eater...so my natural cravings are things like kale salad these days. 😊 I don't see anything wrong, but for obvious reasons, if you can't help yourself, try your best to stay away.
  12. In due time. But until then...you should definitely read that book. I think you'll be quite surprised and amazed. Especially in regards to diabetes. I'm flabbergasted really on the science and studies that have been done. Why are these things not published or being screamed out to the world? ....money and the fact that so many listen to the media without fact checking. I was like that once. It's really sad. Sounds like a conspiracy right? Most likely it is. Im glad there are at least the few handful of doctors and scientists that are trying to get the words out. You should totally check out Blue Zones (Zones of people who are the most healthy and longer living on the planet). We could all benefit from why they are adapting their diet lifestyle.
  13. When I got sharp nabbing pain under the ribs and it got worse with a deep breath or yawn or something, it was gas. I've gone to the ER for it twice and told it was gas, that was embarrassing--but I'm glad everything else was ruled out. Not saying this is it for you, but if you've had the tests, it could most likely be just that. Take some gas x and see if that'll help. Hope it does!

    Vitamins....

I tried them for a month and noticed I wasn't feeling as well as I was with regular vitamins, (nails kept breaking , etc) so I'm back to regular ones.

    Is it dumping? TMI...Sorry

Well, if it isn't dumping (which sounds like it could be) it could also just be your body's way of saying it doesn't recognize high fatty foods anymore and doesn't want it. I've noticed preop on one of my "diets" when I would eat very well for a few weeks then have something unhealthy, I would feel very very sick. My husband just experienced that the other day, we've been eating plant based for almost a month now, he decided to get a Mexican plate at a restaurant and said never again. He felt ill for the rest of the day and ended up sleeping too.
  16. Sooo...I decided to keep a pair of brand new dress pants that I've never worn from the past two years (that I could also never wear due to them being way too small) for when I need a pair to wear. I decided to try them on this morning (for an important appointment this week) and they are now too big! Lol. :P

Thank you all. For good measure I decided to try on some shirts that I've kept and they fit now. I've made a note to wear them before I can't. :D

I've had this "problem" as well - one week (or so it seems) the small pants are too small, and then when I try them on again they're too big! Unfortunately now I do not have a single pair of pants that fit me - the smaller 16s are just that little bit too tight (like, if I bend over, either they, or I, will split) to wear at all. So now I'm stuck with one skirt (luckily it's a jean skirt, so it's pretty sturdy) for the next week until I get to Hong Kong where maybe I can find something that fits me!

  17. Oh hon, you and everyone here are all most welcome to be here in this thread. I want everyone, no matter their wls date, be comfortable to come and share and be encouraged here. 😊
  18. Awwww you did!!! Yay! I hope you'll be blessed with Hello Navi and have such an eye opening experience with a Proteinaholic. I'm in chapter ten of that one now and I'm just amazed with all the studies and science that has been done and we don't hear nearly enough about it! It's truly an eye opener. Be doubly blessed, as you continue your journey and take care of yourself. 😊

I made some quinoa tabbouleh. So fresh and yummy. Wish I could eat more but my little tummy can't handle so much. 😊 https://www.budgetbytes.com/2012/04/quinoa-tabbouleh/

Thank you sharing this. I've been looking in to different burgers to make. So far, I've found a beet burger to try. I saved this to make sometime soon too. Sounds so good!

Diabetes....caused by animal proteins. SAY WHAT!? Lol. I'm thoroughly enjoying the science and studies about diabetes. It's quite an eye opener, as this whole book is. Starts on page 145!

I second this. Although I did mostly animal protein starting out, then dwindled to dairy, and now very limited, if any, on the eggs/cheese, I'm starting my month four post op and I feel like I'm in the clear or having to focus on protein. I get what my body needs through my now, whole foods, plant based diet. @CattMyst has had success with soy and pea protein....definitely a better option than whey and animal protein if you need to focus on it early on. For me to not be at maintenance (which was when I was going to do plant based--so glad I decided against it), we shall see how it all plays out; I get blood work done this next week.
