2 months post op (RNY) and i am HUNGRY!
bsclp118 replied to healthyholly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through a week or so of feeling like this but it has passed recently. Maybe try young your (solid) Proteins? I wonder if it also might be something to do with the healing process - sort of like when your skin itches when it's healing. No idea if that's true tho! Wooooooo *finally* the scale has moved. 18lb in 7 week, slowly but surely going in the right direction. How's everyone else doing? Gastric bypass - 3rd December 2016 4ft 10, female HW - 217 SW - 212 CW - 183 -
Band to RNY 12/6....scale hasn't moved

That's really interesting, I definitely feel like my stomach can hold more than many people describe in the bypass forum. I've only lost 14lbs since my surgery on 3rd December. Saw my surgeon last week who said we have to be realistic and weightloss will be slower for revision surgery but that I should focus on exercise. Kind of wondering if it was worth all this money but gotta stay positive, what's done is done! I am making healthier choices, it's just not quite as dramatic a change as I imagined. This is so refreshing to read! I've been worrying that I'm eating too much in comparison to what people on here say they eat. I'm 5 week out and my calories have gradually risen to 1000-1300kcal a day. I am working out quite vigorously (spinning/body combat/aerobics) 5 times a week though, I don't think I could do this on 600 kcals! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Drinking alcohol with band
bsclp118 replied to madison.alvarez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gonna be honest when I had my band it didn't change my tolerance at all - though obviously a good idea to eat before going out. The band doesn't affect your ability to absorb alcohol. I've recently had a band to bypass revision and I understand that this will change my tolerance. As for drinks, vodka is one of the lowest calorie drinks - maybe mix with a diet soda to reduce the irritant affect on your stomach though? Depends how you do with carbonation mind.... I've been off from my surgery (band to bypass revision with complications - 7hr surgery) on the 3rd December. The first week was pretty rough and my head was still quite foggy from the anaesthetic and pain meds. However I've recovered really quickly and think I could have been back in work after a fortnight if I had to be. It's really nice knowing I'm not back till the 3rd Jan though, gives me time to focus on exercise and getting my food/vitamins routine sorted before my life gets hectic again! I think this varies between surgeons. Mine (in the UK) says that carbonated drinks can't do damage once I'm healed (I.e they do not stretch the pouch), but the carbonation may be uncomfortable so it depends how it agrees with you. No carbonation during the healing process though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well I wouldn't read too much into it as it's probably just Water weight. But I'm interested in any replies about how to jump start things and get out of a plateau. I lost 12lb in my first week out and only 1lb in the last week Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm 3 week out and so far I've been using specialist Bariatric Vitamins that I'd bought prior to surgery. However, my surgeon suggested there was no need to have these and he recommended some for me. The Iron he recommends is 200mg ferrous sulphate, and the Calcium is the AdCal-D3, which is calcium carbonate. Doing my own research I've read that calcium citrate is much better absorbed and there are more gentler iron supplements I could be taking that are also better absorbed. I just wondered what people's views were on this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone else have a tough recovery?
bsclp118 replied to chunkygirl679's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was in surgery for 7hrs due to complications and I felt the same, especially the hot/cold flashes which I think might be to do with all the hormonal changes that go on after surgery. I'm 15 days out now and feeling much better. My advice would be if you are still taking painkillers try get off them as soon as is comfortable - i felt much better once i had stopped mine xx Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Band to RNY 12/6....scale hasn't moved

I'm 15 days out from my band to RNY revision. Although I lost 12lb in the first week the scales have completely stalled since I started on the purée stage in week 2. I've started doing some cardio in an attempt to get things moving again but so far it's had no effect. Trying to be patient but it's sooooo frustrating! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
