United Health Care Insurance
courtneylosing replied to Sleeve1stFitNext's topic in Insurance & Financing
I had UHC plus and it took them 10 business days. I was required to do 6 months pre-op. My BMI was 48 and I had hypertension, but I was told it’s much easier to get approved with UHC than Aetna. Also they didn’t care if I gained weight during that 6 month period just as long as I didn’t miss any supervised dieting appointments. Maybe that helps? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

I'm so looking forward to this. Considering I'm only a week out, LOL, I've got awhile. Glad to know me and hubby's tradition isn't over forever.

I start puree tomorrow. I'm really excited to have somewhat real food. Tired of liquids!

Thought I would add on to this post. I have UHC and I did not have to do an EKG or an ultrasound. I also didn't have to keep records of my food or exercise. I did have to do 6 months worth of supervised dieting. I had to have a psych evaluation. I did have to do a endoscopy. My final appointment with my surgeon was to answer final questions. I was told approval/denial would be sent within 7-10 business days from UHC. It took them exactly 9 business days for an approval. I did NOT have to lose a specific amount of weight beforehand and actually gained from my first appointment 6 months ago and still received an approval. I'm located in Texas and could be different depending on which plan you have UHC. It's been a painless process though. Surgery is scheduled for June 12, 2017. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Surgery "Cover Story" for friends, coworkers, etc
courtneylosing replied to HealthyPursuit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only thing is if you say you had gallbladder surgery and then for some reason REALLY have to have gallbladder surgery (it's not uncommon for WLS patients) it might mess up your story. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Feedback: Breast Lift with or without implant? Do you regret the lift without the implant and why? Thanks!
courtneylosing replied to CrazyJaney's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I was wondering about this as well! I haven't had surgery yet but I'm thinking without implants I'd the way to go. I'd like to stay as natural as possible when I get to that step. Thanks for sharing! You look great. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Being able to fly without my fat touching the person next to me. Being able to snowboard without struggling to get up. Shopping will be more enjoyable. Also I'm looking forward to my heart rate spiking when I'm doing stupid things like putting on my shoes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Has Anyone Kept Their Surgery A Secret?
courtneylosing replied to Dtrain84's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't plan on making a big post about it on Facebook but if people ask me and I can tell they are going through the same struggle I've been through the last 10+ years, I'll talk about it. There's nothing worst than having someone tell you "oh all I did was eat salads every day." And then you find out years later they had WLS. Obviously I was struggling and I'm sorry but no amount of salads is going to make you drop 100lbs. I'm just gullible. I also talk too much so more than likely I'll tell people when they ask, but I'll also back it up with all the work I've put into it as well (diet change, exercise, accountability.) I won't shout it from the rooftops, but I do intend on telling those who were looking for help the same way I had when I was lied to. I'm have surgery on June 12, 2017. Question? I've completed everything that was required and I am now scheduled for Pre Op
courtneylosing replied to Misha42000's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same as above. It was basically the last time I will see my surgeon to get any last questions in before surgery. Took roughly 15 minutes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
