    I have a surgery date!

Pre op diet is not the best, but it helps with surgery. I felt much better with having my all liquid diet after surgery. I felt much more prepared. I'm only 2 weeks post op and just started mushies 2 days ago and the all liquids was not bad at all. Congratulations on your date! You can do this! Keep us posted and feel free to post or message me if I can help!

    First in line tomorrow morning

The vitamin D I was told to take is D3. D3 helps calcium be absorbed. Check the calcium you got. It may have the D3 already in it. I got calcium chews and they have the D3 in them, so no need for a separate chewable. Otherwise, I'm taking a chewable flinstone 2x a day and B12 once a week and also a biotin dissolvable. Good luck again! You'll do great!

    My Time is coming soon❤❤❤

Your time will be here before you know it! It's exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time! I'm only 2 weeks post op and it came fast. I was so nervous the few weeks before that I gave myself worse GERD than I already had! [emoji23] LOL! Now that it's over I'm just trying to get used to the new feelings and sounds my stomach makes. Just keep on track, stay on here, ask questions about it all when you have them. No questions are stupid believe me! It will fly by, but you will be ready! Keep us posted here! Good luck!

    First in line tomorrow morning

Good luck! I'm 2 weeks post op myself and just getting used to the new sounds and sensations my belly is making! You'll do great! Just remember to get up and walk as soon as you can. You won't want to, but it makes a huge difference. Take care!

    Surgery in the morning

Good luck on your surgery! I am 13 days post op and my advice is WALK as soon as you can. It helps with the gas pain so much. And also bring chapstick! You'll need it. Take care and keep us posted!

    Hopes

Hello! I'm just 13 days post op RNY, but I do understand how you are feeling. Being nervous with this decision is very normal and is in no way "the easy way out". I had only a 3 month diet prior to being ok'ed for surgery. I then met my surgeon and then all the hoop jumping began! I started on November 2nd, 2016 and had my surgery on June 21st, 2017. Understand this though, every doctor and insurance company are different in how they approach WLS. If you have questions about your insurance, call them and ask. I found out my doctors office misinformed me about a lot of what my insurance covered and such. I called both my insurance company and my doctor and set my mind at ease. Remember this is a tool and not a cure, but you have come this far and you will do great! Keep educating yourself, stay positive, and believe in yourself! You can do this and we are all here to cheer you on! We all understand how you feel and where you are coming from. You're not alone! Feel free to message me if I can ever help! [emoji16]

Fell and broke my foot! And surgery next week!

I'm doing ok. I will find out at my next orthopedic appointment if I need surgery on my foot. I'm almost feeling back to normal 12 days post op. I have my surgery follow up later today and get my staples out. Yay! Overall, I'm hanging in there and can't wait to be able to go on my walks again!

    Behavioral evaluation?

I only had one visit and 600 questions, but others that saw my surgeon saw a different psych person and they had 3 visits. One for a talk, two to take test, and three to go over test results. Hope that helps.
  10. My surgery is June 21st also! Good luck! You look great!

    Hospital stay for Gastric Bypass?

My surgery is 6/21 and have to stay 2 nights.
  12. The injections are prefilled and one use per syringe. They are very easy to use.
  13. My surgery is 6/21 and I got my scripts prior to this. I'm going to be on Lovenox for 3 weeks post op due to having blood clots in my lungs a couple years ago. I will also have Tylenol #3 liquid, Zofran, and Prilosec. I also have to take vitamins and supplements.

    100% Overwhelmed/Excited!

Hello and welcome! First, you will need to go to a free seminar about WLS(weight loss surgery). Your PCP should be able to refer you to a bariatric doctor. Once you have a WLS doctor, you can call them and find out about the seminar and go to it. At the seminar you can ask about the different types of surgery available and any other questions you have. I don't know about the DS, but I'm scheduled for the RNY gastric bypass on 6/21/17. I got a book from the store on here. There are iBooks about the different versions of surgery. You can also do your own research on line. The more you educate yourself about these surgeries, the better off you'll be when it comes time to choose. This site is great. You can search subjects to read about most things WLS. Ask questions. Everyone here is going to know how you feel and understand your situation. Good luck!

    Dating horrors

Don't get down on yourself because of one person you never met. Know that they missed out on an opportunity to meet a strong and capable woman. If you want to be upfront to perspective dates than tell them what you're comfortable talking about. Some people are pass judgements before actually seeing the entire package. Smile and know you are beautiful and happy! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Good luck to you. You can do this.

    Incorrect Eating

Remember you are not alone in your struggle with food. If you feel the need to snack or eat what you shouldn't, reach out here and someone will be here to help. We've all been where you are and know it's hard. Keep your head up and remember everything you've had to do to get you where you are now. You can do this!

    Approved!

I didn't need approval, but I still had to go through the punches set by my surgeon. I called my doctor to see where my case was and get my date. They called me back a couple days later with my date of 6/21, preop visits to the NUT, surgical nurse, and financial officer, and my pre op surgeon visit and three post surgical appointments. Everyone's experience is different. Call them on Monday and ask your questions. Most offices will get you answers. Take care! Good luck on your journey and keep us posted.

    Cigna Insurance Approval

I don't have Cigna, but I was anxious waiting only after 48 hours. I first called my surgeons office and spoke to the woman who takes care of all insurance matters. I did this every other day for about 2 weeks. I kept getting the run around, so I finally called my insurance company. Within about 20 minutes on the phone with them, I found out everything I needed to know. Just be vigilant and keep on top of your surgeons office. Don't think you are being annoying or bothersome. Your Doctor works for you. Good luck and keep us posted! Good luck

    July

You're in the final stretch! Losing even 32 pounds makes your surgery safer. As long as you have lost some weight and kept it off that's a good thing. Two years is a long road, but look at how far you've come. If you want to drop more pounds before surgery, talk to your nutritionist and ask for her help. That is what the NUT is there for. You should be able to drop a few more pounds in the next few months. Keep your head up, smile and say,"I'm worth this. I will make it!" And we will all be behind you for support. You can do this! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

    Everything is going FAST!

I have UHC through Medicare. I found out, after going through a ton of crap with my surgeons office, that I did not require prior approval. So, technically I didn't have to wait for approval, but due to a poorly organized Doctors office, I finished my prerequisites on 2/23/17 and did not get my date until the beginning of May. My surgery date is 6/21/17. I was going crazy trying to get the date and now it's less than a month away! I hope you get a quick response from your insurance. Good luck!

    Super Newbie - getting nervous

Hello, I'm preop gastric bypass. My surgery date is 6/21 and I do preop testing on 6/7. I see the surgeon 6/19. I start my preop diet also on 6/7. I have to have 3-4 protein shakes and 2-3 servings of non starchy veggies. 48 hour prior to surgery I go on all clear liquids. And at midnight the night before nothing. Every doctor is different with the preop diet. You are better off calling your surgeon and find out if you need to do one. A surgery buddy is someone with the same surgery date that you pair up with for support. Good luck and keep us posted.[emoji3]

I have atleast 135lbs to lose!

I'm preop for the RNY gastric bypass. I personally can't have the sleeve because I have severe GERD and that can make it worse. Has your doctor recommended one over the other? You can research pros and cons of each surgery. I was told with the bypass I will lose more than the sleeve and be better in the long term. Everyone is different. Keep educating yourself and get all the info you can to help with the decision. Good luck! Let us know what you decide! [emoji3]

    Total Frustration...

Good luck at your appointment tomorrow! I wish you well and crossing my fingers for you! Let us know how it goes![emoji3]
  24. Roux-en-Y is the gastric bypass.
  25. RNY Is another term for the gastric bypass. I've not heard of a minisleeve? I'm a bit nervous, but more excited actually. I had a total hysterectomy via laparoscope when I was 34 and I remember the pain from that, so I will use that as a baseline. LOL. My surgery will be in Temple, TX at Baylor, Scott, and White hospital. I will be occupied from June 1st until June 19th, so I won't be obsessing about surgery day. My daughters are coming to see me from Upstate New York. I haven't seen them since last summer. So, I'll be busy with them. I know the day before surgery I'll be nervous and won't sleep. My brain will be in overdrive. LOL. Good luck to you with your surgery and recovery.
