OMG Photonut I LOVE YOU! You are so right on! How the heck did you do that? How were you able to read me like that? You are good gurl! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post (the first half was accidently copied from my profile..I posted that before so I will delete it). -

Sherri, why are you eating les than 1000calories? Perhaps you can up the calories and you may gain. How much protein are you getting in?

Aussie Chick I think you just killed this thread...lol What kills a thread for me is when someone comments on something that another poster said that has nothing to do with the topic at hand, rather it's a sidebar....lol^

yup my surgeon suggested i have gb instead. he had no faitrh at all that i would succeed with the band. he thought it would be a pest patient too. i have lost over 70lbs and i am not even 5 months out and most of that was lost at 3 months cuz i have had 4 weeks of no loss. now my doc thinks i'm his ideal patient. i reffered two other american women to him who weigh more than me and he only wanted to consider them for banding if i thought they were as motivated as i am/were.

any post where someone comes out of surgery and post the next day saying how they are starving and can't handle the liquis diet another minute and it hasn't even been 24 hours. i get tired of reading about people searching for a swet spot and expecting it to mean that they don't have to have any self control at all. or any hijacked post. i like stcking to the subject and feel new threads should be started if you want to go ot.

Thanks everyone. I guess I am reluntant because I have lost so much so soon with relative ease. I keep hearing about people eating a couple of bites and being full or even people being upset that they have not met their sweet spot because they can eat more than 1/2 cup of food. Well I have always ate 2 cups of food for lunch and dinner and depending on what I had for Breakfast could be more or less (either two cups of Fiber Cereal w/milk, quakers oat weight control cereal 1 pack, or an egg and cheese grilled sandwich on whole wheat or bran). I chew slowly but not super slow and I eat out of a small desert spoon or a toddler (not baby) spoon...micro bites or pea size bites required with restriction scare me. Yes I know the band was designed to be adjusted and those were my intentions when I got banded, but since I was doing so well without it I was hoping I could continue that way. I'm not afriad of pain from the fill but I do fear complications from fills or even constantly chasing a sweet spot.

What's so bad about being able to eat a whole sandwich? I have been banded on 4 months, with no fill, have lost over 70lbs and eat sandwiches with bread (actually cheeseburgers, griled cheese with eggs, and pj's) at least once a or twice a week. -
I use to do the mock mash potatoes like you, with califlower. now i use butternut squash and i love it! do u thinki can make a mock baked potAToe with the bns?

I am including today's entry on my OH profile, so that you can know why I ask. Basically, for those of you who have ever binged since being banded, how much damage did you do? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I forced myself to update my profile today, because I need to be held accountable for my recent bad band behavior! First, I'll share my good and exciting news. This week two other American Expats here in Saudicame to visit me, from another region, so that they could go to the hospital and surgeon that I went to and have the band placed. I am so happy for them. I pray that we are all successful losers!. It's nice to have a semi-local support system. My family usualy has pancakes once a week for Breakfast, but since we had guest this week we made them several times. I normally have 3-4oz of srambled eggs and one pancake (as opposed to 4 eggs and 4 pancakes preband). One day this week I went over board. i ate my pancake, half of one of the newly banded woman's son's pancake and half of my daughters pancake. I had pancakes three times this week. i also brought back the evil Peanut Butter in my house this week for all the extra kids that were here. well I fell victim to it's calling again. as soon as this jar is finished it will be banned again from my house, insha'Allah. Today, I had an all out binge! I'm not sure if I need a fill (never had one really don't want one) or if I was just testing my band. I don't exactly regret it, because I always say I want to eat normal which means that if I have a day of bad food choices it's ok as long as i get back on track. I started the day fine with a cup of Cream of Wheat for breakfast. Later my daughter brought some dates and cream cheese to me and asked me to fill the dates with the cream cheese for her. I ate one. I think that set off my binge, cuz later I had some organic Cookies that my guest left and my kids found. Then I had to go to the store to buy milk and salad...healthful stuff. Since banded, I prefer to send my dh to the store because the store is hazardous to my band! I saw oreos and bought them, a snickers, and a fruit and nut chocholate bar. I honestly don't know what came over me. I also ate 2 bags of chips. I don't even buy this junk for my kids anymore. Instead of chips they have mixed nuts or popcorn for Snacks. Another reason I just didn't care today is because when I got on the scale today for my weekly weigh in, it was the first time in my 12 weeks of banded life that I had not lost a pound. In the past on diets, this is the very thing that set me off on a binge or a downward slope. I am grateful that I didn't gain because have not exercised at all this week either. Tommorrow is a new day and I will rediticate myself to healthful eating and exercising insha'Allah. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pre-op 277 1 week 260 -17# 2 week 253 -7# 3 week 250 -3# 4 week 241 -9# 5 week 240 -1# 6 week 238 -2# 7 week 235 -3# 8 week 231 -4# 9 week 230 -1# 10 week 218 -12# 11 week 216 -2# 12 week 216 -0#

Thanks everyone! Jack! Not you!!! Say it isn't so... I decided to detox myself today and do spome kind of liquid fast. So far it's working great! All that crap (juck food) is being flushed (literally) away.

I'm in the no fill boat too. I like eating normal serving sizes. I chew normal too (not chew chew chew to goo). I also eat normal bite sizes as opposed to micro bites and I eat at a farely normal pace as opposed to taking over 30 minutes to eat a meal and a minute between bites. I'm happy and content with no fill, but after today's binge I was starting to question my position.

Donna, check out my profile, the link is in my signature. My whole looong story is there! Believe it or not I eat ALOT compared to what I am reading others eat. Actually, I eat like a normal person. I am, on no particular diet, but I am mindful of what I eat and my portions. I started at 277 and did not pre diet. I do not use diet products other than splenda or stevia in my drinks. Even when I was on liquids, I dranked the regular Carnation Instant Breakfast. I also walk about 3 miles 4-5 days a week. I drink loads of Water also. I think that if I had a fill I could lose even more, because my portions are not as small as I am reading other bandsters with fills have. However, I have decided to work with an empty band as long as I can. The reason being is that there are no garantees that I will always have ths band. If for any reason I may have it removed, I wouild like to be eating as normal as possible in hopes of maintaining and/or continuing to lose on my own.

No wonder everyone is starving and not thinking their fills work! Eat normal servinga and you will lose, God willing. I eat 3-4 oz of Protein and 1 cup of salad or veggies for llunch and dinner. For Breakfast it is either a cup of eggs and one pancake, once a week or a pack of weight control oatmeal daily. I do not snack on a regular basis (yesterday I ate 3 fig Cookies...5 cookies a serving 125calories and somedays I may have a kiri cheese sqaure). I had to stop buying Peanut Butter cuz it would call me to the kitchen and force me to eat spoonfuls of it all day!

I am 10 weeks post op. I did not do a pre-op diet and I have no fill. To date I have lost 59lbs .

I wouldnt worry about it. I eat 3-4oz of protein and a cup of salad or veggies. I will say that you will not need as much protein if it is solid. Today I could not finish my meal of 4oz of lemon pepper chicken and a fully loaded salad...as hard as I tried! Last night I had 4oz of canned chicken and one of my dh's favorite salads (diced cilantro, parsley, tomatoes, and cucumubers) and it did not give me close to the same fullness the lemon pepper chicker (strips of chicken breast) did.
