  3. I'm day 8 post-op and very anxious to get into the gym! In the hospital and out I've been walking to keep pain down and gas moving. Yesterday I figured I'd go to the gym and walk the treadmill slowly, but prior to that I sat in the sauna which I don't think was a good idea. Wasn't feeling so well afterwards. While I was walking 1.0 speed, my left side began to hurt (by major incision) so I left the gym, when I got home I took the good stuff (pain meds) but Im ok today to where I was able to clean the fridge out with no problem. Am I pushing to hard too quickly? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    No supervised diet?

Some insurance do not require the 3/6 month deal if your BMI has been 40 & above consistently in the previous 2/3 years. If it's less than 40 u generally have the 3/6 month deal. It truly varies by insurance companies. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Gym membership I can tell you is not sufficient, ur food logs will ok if it's medically supervised by a dietitian. Someone posted the requirements for 2017, read that to be certain exactly what you need. Happy Journey! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Bcbs federal

Anything under 35 BMI do not send to insurance their guidelines are exact with no wavering, whatever you do going forward do not let your BMI drop under 35. You get weighed prior to surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    yesterday was surgery

I had it severely in the hospital and just nausea when I got home. I received zofran in the hospital every opportunity they could give it to me and it seemed it didn't work. When I moved I dry heaved. After my leak test they gave me something for pain and it helped with dry heaves. For me a cold cloth on my forehead or neck along with nausea meds I put under my tongue helped at home. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery cancelled

Look at it as a positive! All things happen for a reason and this is a very major surgery. The time will past quickly and the 3rd will be here before u know it. My potassium was significantly low and I was given meds to get it up and if it did not go up I would of had to reschedule. But everything worked out and I was able to go in healthy and nothing to cause major infections. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Approval for Aetna with a BMI between 36 & 37

I have BCBS AL and I was denied the first time I submitted all information. I had the option to appeal or do what they asked to the tee. I had high blood pressure My BMI was over 35 for at least 3 years I was not a smoker I was in a diet program the year prior from Jan- July, but I missed going to the dr. In feb. they denied me because I missed 1 month and the six months they required were not consecutive. It took a month to receive the denial. I had to start all over... 7 total visits to the dietitian with 30 days in between and 3 documented visits to the Dr. In reference to weight loss. My information was submitted around Nov 18th, my surgery date was 12/12/16. I got approved super fast the 2nd time. Don't rush it make sure u have every thing u need the first time so u don't have to start over. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Waking Up

I think every case varies... it will depend on you and when u wake up in recovery as well as how your doing during recovery before they transfer to your room. The procedure itself is only 30mins. I had to be at the hospital at 6 am, but my surgery did not begin until 9 am. Unfortunately in my case my husband was in Europe for work. If your mother is there with you, you'll b ok. The time you will need your husband is after fact for walking in which ull have to get up every 2 hours based on Dr. Orders. For the most part you'll be sleeping. Had my sleeve yesterday!

It's very normal! Getting up to walk will help the pain along with gas-X strips. Walk walk walk as I walked every two hours and it definitely helped. When my stomach would hurt after drinking I would just take smaller sips and it seems to have worked for me. I had my surgery 12/12/16, so I'm day 5 post-op. Good luck! Nausea

I generally get a patch behind my ear but that didn't happen prior to surgery. They gave me meds for nausea in the hospital and after I left, but it didn't stop the dry heaves. With having no liquids in my stomach it was the worst ever as it caused much pain to my main incision. Good luck with your surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  22. My surgery was 12/9 and I was sipping on a Protein shake the morning after. Yogurt the day after that. No pain, no nausea. Every plan is different. Are you suggesting she should go against her doctor's advice? In no way am I suggesting to go against Dr. Orders. Understood that all Doctors orders are different, but every gastric sleeve is the same. I was making a comparison of the experiences. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  25. Yup I had a torn meniscus in my right knee. I had surgery on my knee Oct 2016, and Sleeve 12/12/16. It's not totally healed but it's getting their. Weight loss will definitely help with the healing. I tried meds and had an option of shots prior to the surgery. But I didn't want to continue with the meds and opted for surgery.
