    Bad stick

Ugh. I really hate needles and have never had an IV before. I'm not looking forward to it.
  2. I would not be surprised if as the years pass and the data piles up that they don't lower the recommended BMI range to include the obese with BMI's under 35. Those comments you're getting sound more like resentment than fact. As I'm certain you know, stalls are normal. Long term, it would be impossible to eat at a deficit and not lose weight. Short term, a body can stubbornly cling to weight as it adjusts to the new normal. Personally, I'd find new more supportive friends!

    Drain Tube

My information packet from the surgeon says that sometimes a drain is placed. No information about who gets one or who doesn't.
  4. The post-surgery anti-blood clot medication is often Heparin, which you have to give yourself as a shot in the stomach for a while after surgery.

    Wine[emoji485]

It should be in the guidelines your doctor gave you. Every surgeon seems to have different rules. Find out what yours says...
  6. I don't have one either. Surgeons are all over the place on what they require.

    First appt. Cancelled.

It's not just the insurance company, even plans with the same insurance company can have different requirements. Mine is a Blue Shield of CA PPO. It's best to call your insurance company and ask what their requirements are. Good luck!
  8. With no information, all we can tell you is call your surgeon.

Myths about exercise and weight loss?

Agreed. Exercise is necessary for good health, but not for weight loss.
  10. Some people take in too much air when drinking from a straw, which puts pressure on your sleeve.

    Surgery tomorrow

You're welcome! It's funny, but I buy them for presents for people all the time. It makes such a difference in sleep quality. My surgery is next Wednesday the 22nd. Hard to believe it's nearly here!

    Work

I'm agnostic, but I try to be respectful of others' beliefs including atheists. It's okay to not believe, but it's highly disrespectful to refer to someone else's faith as a fairy tale.

    Surgery tomorrow

I've been making my list too. Things I have that you're missing are toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush, phone/charger, and sleep mask (light bothers me when I'm trying to fall asleep) Good luck to you!

    Risky behavior

It's the same brain mechanism that allowed us to get obese in the first place. Remember that feeling of catching a glimpse of yourself in a store window or a mirror you weren't expecting and being shocked that the fat person was you? Or seeing pictures and not believing you looked that fat when you got dressed that morning? Our brains have a recorded vision of ourselves that takes a while to overwrite with the new version of you. Give it time and the person in your brain will start to mirror the thinner person you are now. I read a while back it takes about 6 months to replace that mental image with the new you.

    Any regrets?

I didn't say you were afraid, I said you're fearmongering. Spreading fear.

    Any regrets?

Oh great, the two fearmongers have joined forces...

    Dumping Syndrome...

Call your surgeon's office. Follow their advice.

    Panic Attacks?

Most of the folks I see posting about regrets or being overwhelmed or not feeling good are within the first several months after surgery. So it's normal to feel this way! But you do need to ask for your surgeon's help (like with the insomnia) and take advantage of support stuff like therapy, support groups, posting here, etc.

    Gallbladder

What does your doctor recommend? Mine does not take it out as part of the op. He said it can cause other problems and it's not a guarantee the gallbladder will cause you trouble.
  20. Good luck to you regardless! Protein shakes and sugar free things like popsicles and Jello, etc. like a lot of people's liquid pre-op diets would work for a good portion. Not sure about 30, but you'd make a decent dent. Avoid salt for the blood pressure.
  21. Walking is good from day one. Anything that involves lifting anything or crunching like situps is bad for about 6 weeks. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  22. 30 pounds in a month is more than most people with the sleeve lose in a month! That seems very unrealistic to do safely on your own with no instructions. If I were you, first I'd call the office and ask. Maybe he thinks you have more instructions than you do? I had to lose 10 in a month for my presurgery and felt good about losing 13. I can't imagine trying to lose 30 in 30 days. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Bad Breath

It's temporary, but it means you are burning fat. It's not originating from your mouth (it's in the breath you're exhaling), so brushing doesn't help much. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
