    Can't stand water!

Is this something that is new after WLS or something you felt before? If it's a carryover from before, I would suggest pushing through it. I used to say I hated the taste of Water (Diet Coke addict), but I learned to love it over time when I gave up DC. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  2. My dad is going through chemo for aggressive stage IV bladder cancer. I chose to do the surgery knowing what he's facing. I am doing it for myself, but part of me wants him not to have to worry about me and my weight anymore. He couldn't be happier about my decision and is very supportive. Your mom doesn't need to worry any more about you than she already does. So take care of yourself for you and for her. Echoing therapy. It's very helpful. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Calf Pain

Not to scare you, but this is also what DVTs (blood clots) feel like. If you haven't done anything to pull it and you've done any traveling like long plane trips or car trips where you sat a long time without stretching, you may want to contact your doctor and ask if they want to see you. very disappointed

Generally speaking women's abdominal fat is outside their abdominal wall. Think jiggly bellies. Men often have more visceral fat - fat inside the abdominal wall and wrapped around their organs. Example, hard beer bellies. Sometimes women do carry more visceral fat. If the doctor expected more external fat and then encountered internal fat, it would have changed things. Disappointing, absolutely, but sounds like it was necessary for safety. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Stopping liquid stage.

Strangers on the internet can't be trusted to tell you whether you can do this safely. This won't be your toughest challenge on this road. Why not just show yourself you can do anything and stick with the plan? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Boxed Water Is Better!

It's, uh, Water. I just drink the cold filtered stuff that comes out of the fridge door. Tastes great and a heck of a lot cheaper. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I don't think it's about people understanding, it's about your safety. It has to be incredibly hard. If you need more time to tackle your habits one at a time, then take it. But to second guess why you're doing any of it because your doctor wouldn't jeopardize your safety isn't logical. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    very disappointed

I read a thread here just in the last week or so where the person went in for surgery and woke up with nothing done because of scar tissue. It happens. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

You don't have anything to be embarrassed about. Things happen. I get it's a huge letdown, but quitting seems counterintuitive to why you were going through all this in the first place. You're entitled to feel discouraged, but you're going to need to brush yourself off and keep moving forward. You can lose that 50 pounds! Try to think of it as a delay rather than an end. Advancing your diet- on your own

I think the concern over this kind of question is when someone new to all of this sees it and thinks they can advance their diet because someone else with the same surgery did. I get that you are just curious and aren't wanting to do it yourself, but you aren't the only person seeing the responses. People with less knowledge than you will see the answers and may not know better. So encouraging people to share instances of them going against doctor's orders isn't such a good idea. Nor is discouraging people from saying why it's bad to do this or that they followed the rules. Those replies just gives a more complete answer for future sleevers who will stumble on your question.
