    Hair Loss

So nice to know I'm not alone in this!!
  2. You're at the worst part of this. I think you can ask to bow out gracefully given the circumstances.
  3. I'm a big fan of the EatSmart scales you can get on Amazon. Very consistent.

    Ice cream

Honestly given the things I've read of people eating here early days after surgery, I absolutely don't think we can. I won't list them to not embarrass anyone, but it can be mind boggling. It's not safe to assume anything about what anyone thinks is destructive or counter productive. I don't think surgery means never having ice cream again. But 18 days out? To say anything that encourages backsliding that early to foods that got us to qualify for this surgery in the first place would be irresponsible.

    Ice cream

That's a lot of drastic, expensive, invasive changes to go through to want to eat ice cream 18 days in...

    Hair Loss

Anyone else have this? In past weight loss attempts when I lost a lot of weight, I also lost hair. Right before my hair started shedding, I would find my scalp hurt, or like my hair hurt when I moved it. I looked it up and it's called trichodynia. It's like that feeling when you've had your hair up in a ponytail for too long then take it down. I was bummed when it started hurting day before yesterday. Here we go!
  7. Mine said it is. I stayed the same weight for 9 days at that point. PS - shame on your doctor for saying it's you're fault when you're following the plan! Give it time. It'll break.
  8. That's a lot for 5 weeks. And fast eating is not a good idea because it's so easy to miss the cues that you've had enough.
  9. I got the sense none of this was her idea and that her "people" rushed her through the process at a totally unreasonable pace for ratings. It's hard enough to do all this when you want to. I can't imagine how you deal with all the emotional stuff that comes with this when your reasons belong to someone else and revolve around money and your primary motivation is to stick it to someone who doesn't even want you anymore. How does she not regain when the world stops caring about her transformation and she's left alone with her small stomach, her emotions and her family who continue to eat crap?
  10. I can drink much faster now at 6.5 weeks than early on. It gets easier fast. I also make an effort to start early in the day. Because the ban on drinking for 30 minutes after you eat chips away at your drinking time. But do stay hydrated. I had a kidney stone two weeks ago and they suspect dehydration, even though I was meeting the 64oz minimum (the urologist said he recommends everyone get at least 80oz). I NEVER want to go through that again any time soon.

    stitch removal

I had a similar painful tug around that time. One day it just let go.

    Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

For 2.5 weeks that sounds pretty good. You're at the week 3 stall timeframe. If you do stall, you'll get a good drop after.
  13. How much walking do you do now? I found being someone who walked my dog several miles a day pre-surgery, I could walk him a half mile on day 4 post-op, slowly and then was exhausted. It can't hurt to ask for it. If you find you don't need it, you don't have to use it. One benefit though, they'll put your bag in the overhead, which is something the flight attendants either aren't allowed or generally won't do for you.
  14. Something made him not care enough about himself or his health to not stop at 50, 100, 200, 300++pounds overweight. He ate in spite of knowing it could kill him any day. I think that deserves some exploring. You don't have to blame someone else to gain a better understanding of your own self-destructive behaviors.
  15. Good luck to both of you with your surgeries!
  16. Plain water is still uncomfortable for me. But put something in it, and it's fine.

    PSA: Chicken Soup Protein Mix

Totally. The first stage post op is hard enough without drinking unpleasant things!

    PSA: Chicken Soup Protein Mix

140 degrees was too cold for me to enjoy it as soup. I didn't like it!

    DVT

I've read of people developing them after surgery, but I don't know what happens if you have one before.
  20. I'm one of those rare unicorns: a fat hyperthyroid person (I could eat more than the increase in metabolism thanks to the increase in appetite). I'm 6 weeks out and my TSH dropped like a stone. After years of being stable on my anti-thyroid meds, they are being increased.

    Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

"Starving yourself" is unsustainable. Your body will up your hunger hormones and lower your metabolism in an attempt to gain weight. Surgery allows you to feel satisfied with less food without the hunger hormone increases.
  22. Don't put anything on them while the glue is there. It can make it release too early. I'm 6 weeks out and can hardly see my scars. I wouldn't give it any worry.

    Depression and withdraw.

Totally normal. My feelings are on a rollercoaster now. I'm 6 weeks post op with the sleeve and go from feeling like myself to feeling depressed and back throughout the day. It's so much to get used to and the way we lived before, while containing elements of the destructive, was easier. I believe this will get easier too. It's awesome that you have a therapist lined up. I couldn't do this without mine.

    Sushi

I had tuna and salmon nigiri for dinner (I'm a few days into being cleared for all foods, six weeks out on Wednesday). It was only 2.5 pieces (3rd piece no rice, just fish), but it all settled well and tasted good.
