Most absurd thing people said to you when you told them you were having WLS?
Carrie1122 replied to mytime4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup, almost the same experience, so I switch it. Instead of say I lost this much because they cannot comprehend it. I say yeah I lost a 3 year and a 7 year old 70 pounds, etc. I said to one of my girlfriends pick up your three old. She did, I said be muscle relaxed and feel his weight. She said holy ****. Then I told to pick up her 7 year old and do the same my last words to her was that is what I was carrying a around. Now she respects my decision. -
No Regrets ---but this is 'no fun'
Carrie1122 replied to Nanasha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And I forgot to mention if I haven't gone, I cannot eat nothing appeals to me. Even now... I just don't want any of it. I just stick with yogurt and water and raw veggies. I eat meat on the weekends. -
No Regrets ---but this is 'no fun'
Carrie1122 replied to Nanasha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We all go through this, trust me. The gain then it just goes away with another pound or two. I am still experiencing this 6 months out.. you have to listen to your body, I been tracking it. If I haven't gone to the bathroom in a long time like a week. I'm bloated, I go up and down on the scale. After I go, not bloated, and that water weight just drops and another pound or two. If I am on period I am stagnant. So I have about 2 1/2 weeks of pure weight that does not interfere with the changes of my body. -
You have to really listen to your body during the first few months. Everyone's full trigger is different my stomach and upper chest hurt when I was full. Now it's just right at the start of the rib cage.
-
Don't rush the eating part it's an adjustment. And don't get frustrated at the 3 week mark. We all go through it. It's your body adjusting so weight loss is going to be stagnate.
-
I also had to get my wedding ring resized. It was getting to the point where I though it would just fall off. I was a solid 7 and now it's a 5 3/4. It's getting loose again but dealing with it until it almost falls off again and then I will get it resized again. The money you spend after surgery is crazy. Get to know your goodwill stores.

The first month oh geez, I think it was around 15 lbs. look for my posts I posted my my inches lost. I think the title is weight vs. inches. 6 months out from surgery I went from a size 18w pant to a 14 junior or 12/14 woman's pant size. Most 14's don't fit. In 3m period I lost 30 lbs. so basically I am averaging a 10 pound weight loss a month. It's slowed down now, and I have been stagnate but I am loosing inches.

Most absurd thing people said to you when you told them you were having WLS?
Carrie1122 replied to mytime4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think most of us have all been there. I surprised my hubby one day and said I am doing s WLS conference to start the process. It took him a bit to realize, but even through his adjustment he has been my rock. I ended up finally telling my close family and friends. Most was negative except for my one friend (she is becoming a nurse) if it wasn't for her I think I would of flip my sh&t on everyone. My new boss and his wife when I told them she couldn't believe I had it done because I am the smaller of the bari people. And she says what the hell do I know. We talk about it openly at work and they cannot believe the difference. Plus I am a cheap lunch out at work since I usually just get a side salad. They have been super supportive. I heard everything under the sun. All the " it did not work" for this person and "it did not work for that person.". Well, guess what I am 6 months out and drop a 3 year old and a 7 year old. I put in a context that relates to people. So I am not carry around the weight of that age group any more. It's gone. I even said to my friend and she is mostly encouraging I told her all this negative talk just adds fuel to the fire that if you stick to the change it will work. Us bari people work harder than the people that don't have it. We don't have the choice to eat what we want and how much if you stick to it. I say screw them all. Be who you are. And when that weight drops and you in w bikini and they are in a tankini and shorts at the beach you can say what have you done to improve your healthy life... these negative nellies don't make my life go round I do. And you know what I have no health issues any more. -
We were taught to not drink for 6 months because of the issue for dependency! I am 7 months out and I still have not had a drop of alcohol. It will be a year for me next month. I don't drink for the fear of dependency and loosing the life I have created. You need to change and get help!
-
This is actually easier than you think. I thought I would have the same issue. It never became a problem. I am 7 months out and I still don't drink and eat at the same time. You can only eat a few bites at a time so separating Is not going to be hard for you. When I go out to eat I don't even order a drink and I tell them not to bring me water.

To all you nosey people out there who want to know my business so bad, Let me give it to you straight with no chaser regarding what has happened with our relationship before you start to make assumptions..It's better that you get it straight from the horses mouth..It's been really hard for the both of us..Today I made a sound decision and left the relationship..To avoid drama and people getting things all twisted, I'll just give you the truth about what really happened..It's been a while since I've felt good about this relationship..It's been an amazing ride..that I won't deny..I fell in love deeply and completely, but I came to realize it was toxic, addictive and all around not healthy..I can't deny that we will still see each other even though it breaks my heart [emoji174] we have to go our separate ways. My relationship with chips, Cup Cakes, lollies, tim tams, donuts, Mini Muffins, Brownie Bites and other assortments of cakes, cookies, and sweets has to come to an end.. For those who thought I was talking about something or someone else, sorry to disappoint yo nosey tail..Y'all know I like sweets toooo much for all that [emoji23][emoji23] Now.. and because I gave you up, I feel better and a total of 61 lb weight loss to date. Hahaha!!! Hahaha!! Hahhaha!!

How long did it take for your insurance to approve you?
Carrie1122 replied to ElleBJ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Originally it took 3 days for them to deny my surgery. Switched hospitals, denied in 2 days because of them not reading the paperwork. 24 hours later they approved it on the phone with my doctor. -

Are you doing frozen yogurt pops? That is what helped me get through. -
It put a smile on face! Hard work w/ after surgery. Today walking around at our local flea market it put tears to my eyes when a local said "you are getting skinny" I am a week away from being two months out! The changes are unbelievable! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

June sleeve buddies?
Carrie1122 replied to JustJulie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg goodness! I am so excited to hear all of the June tummies! The best advice I can give you all is own your moments post surgery. I cried at everything! The first time I could touch my toes to clip my nails, the first time walking In a store to buy some new cloths! The moment you look in the mirror and realize it's you! The time I tied my sneakers and my bow is not to the side it's in the middle. You hospital stay, bring everything to feel like home Slippers Robe Blankets, pillows, super elastic loose bottoms a easy slip on top. I was lucky my surgery was at 7:30. I went in my pj's. oh and no bra leave the tata's hang out. Trust me you don't want to deal with it. Slippers are a must out of all when you get up and walk around you feel much sturdier. And walk as much as you can post. I can't stress this enough it get the gases moving around and you won't feel as weird. And ignore your damn brain because after everything wears off your brain and tummy are not going to be on the same page. -
Get a kid size icecream, no cone and you will be just fine. Figure out the calories and burn it off. Make it a goal. Have them add peanut butter to help with protein:-)

Good protein powder?
Carrie1122 replied to heylizzyclay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mylight, try tripact from gnc. It comes out to like 1.38 a glass. It's completely vegan and I love the taste. I only use water in it. Any type of milk is too thick for me. -
Help! I ate a whole Pizza. How??
Carrie1122 replied to wlsfeb2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love cauliflower pizza. Just bit of a hint. Get a cheese cloth and squeeze the living crap out of it. You want as much water out of it as you can. When you put in the oven flip the crust around I did it 3 or four times. Then you can load it up with what you want on it and throw it back in to melt or freeze the crust for another day. -
The first time in my life
Carrie1122 replied to Carrie1122's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Calorie count that allows you to lose weekly
Carrie1122 replied to Jez77around's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Take your measurements, I bet your loosing inches. Go back to just protein shakes and veggies, or do your pre-op diet to kick it back into gear. I was allowed veggies on my pre-op -
That is the issue. When I did my last weigh out before going home they warned me of the weight gain. They said not to weigh myself for a week. I didn't listen. That water weight was dropping a pound to two pounds a day.
