Caffeine effects post op?
Carrie1122 replied to JerseyJules's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same way... but it goes away three months after surgery. I have always used milk not half and half and never sugar. -
I went to the hospital in mine and even wore the non slip slippers to the stores. You are welcome you want your stay to be comfortable home setting. Don't be surprised if they fix a hernia while they are in you. I had one and had no clue. Ha!

Are you getting the sleeve or gastric? You might have said already. My pouches name is sassy gassy! [emoji12] we all name it at least the sleevers do. You are going to go through a lot of stages afterwards. Especially with constipation, emotional withdrawal from food, but when you have that moment in a clothing store because you need a few new cloths you will be having a moment that no one can take from you. I was very emotional, disconnected. I will never forget it. Now you have the frustration of I can't spend a lot because it won't fit four months down the road. Get to know your sale times at the goodwill, thrift shop. The night of your hospital stay. Go in PJ's bring an extra pair. Slippers because it sucks walking in socks. Bathroom stuff (toothpaste) bathrobe. I also brought my two favorite pillows and blanket. And walk constantly. I walked every hour and did laps. It helps with the gas and pain. I didn't bring a bra or anything I didn't give a shit. I lived in pj's for a week went to store and everything. I also was aloud to have full liquids 3 days after surgery. I made a shit load of Chobani frozen yogurt. All I did was add skim milk to it water it down and little tiny red cups and pop sticks and froze them. I would walk in the morning with a frozen yogurt. I made my own beef, pork, chicken broth (bone broth).. I froze it in little containers so I can just take it out add it to mash potato's or drink it. Post and pre-op. I made frozen jello and refrigerator jello. Also a pillow small one you can carry around because when you cough it hurts your tummy pressure with a pillow helps. Pillows to prop you up in bed. I have an adjustable I lucked out.

Joann I love vapor galleria juices. I find them to be the best. (Berry blast). You can order it online. I still like to vape now and then ( the right moments). I am looking forward to hearing about your journey and I am sure you will be or are an inspiration. This is not the "easy street" (I sound like the walking dead now, if you are a fan). Change your thoughts, change your world. Everything changes from friends, a new you, it's like a weight has been lifted ( punt intended).

Yummie I love tea, hot or cold. Chick a is probably one of the better one to choose. Soup is a staple! I was able to finally go out to eat and feel normal. I found the kids menu at Texas Roadhouse and red lobster to be the friendliest to bariatric peeps. I was so happy finally munch on on crab legs (without butter of course) and salad. At Texas they have little nugget steaks and apple sauce sauce and veggies. Although most of it went into the hubby's mouth. [emoji12]

Agreen awesome story, thanks for sharing! I have been soda, fast food free for 2 years. I have been sugar free in my coffee for 4.5 years.? I did not give up caffeinated Coffee. It worked for about 2 weeks after surgery.

I was a serious carb addict before I had surgery. It is a completely different world on the other side. It's changed my life. I am not gunna lie the day of surgery (after-wards) and I was sober enough from all the drugs. I broke down and I didn't not know what to do because my mind was like, mashed potatoes, chicken, Cookies, you name it and my brain wanted it. and my stomach didn't want nothing to do with it. My doc's said i am going through emotional food withdrawal and said I am not hungry. This took about a week to get over. My surgeon asked how I did with pre-op I said I had headaches the entire time. I said 3rd day and 5th day I gave in and had mashers and my headache went away instantly no pills were working. I said I work in a stressful environment doc. had no problems with me cheating twice. And I only had enough to curb it and only once a day. The doc was like I knew you followed the plan because if you didn't you would of not mention headache's.
-
Yes I did, in November. I just had my three month follow-up. On target 40 lb totally gone. You will get there. The vaping help with edge and the nervous. It's not good for you but I rather have two ingredient going into my lungs than a 1,000 you get from cigs... :-)

I bought pee strips too from Amazon.. I bought way too many. I wanted to test it this was before my end date to quit. so I quit for two weeks took the test the line was faint but it was still there so I knew I was dirty. But I wanted to see if the strips worked so I smoked took another test. That shit showed up like 3D pink paint! So I know the strips were legit. I had my doc. Appt. approved surgery, he is like go over to lab core and get your test. I said Two months is in three days and he said if you actually quit then you will be clean. Sure enough I was. As long as there is absolutely no trace in the vape filter or replace it then u will be fine. Cotinine shows up like a lighted Christmas tree. I also did nothing special ate, drank normal...
-
Yeah so did I, I had to take blood test for it. I asked my doc how long he wanted me clean. he said two months and then the blood test. Blood test results came back no cotinine found and I vaped the entire time with zero nicotine. I quit exactly two months. The internet will drive you bat shit with everyone's opinion.
-
Just FYI it takes two months to be clean of cotinine . If you struggle you can vape as long as it is zero nic level.

I was there vhamm! With two denials from bsbc of north carolina. Went through everything scheduled my endo, and picked my date. 3 days later got a denial and then paper from the insrance company followed. The reason was because my surgeon's hospital was not a baratric excellence center. i was devastated. So I found one had then transfer all my paper work down to the new hospital. No repeat of work needed. I went and made my appt. for the cpap machine and the surgeon office called again and said that they denied my surgery. 3 hours a day 2 days later with explaining to them that the only reason you denied me in the first place. They called the surgeon's office back and they approved me right on the spot. Wait till you get the denial paper work, actually your surgeon's office should have it already or they should call for you. I if it will be the same for you as it was for me.. 4 mos post op: looking for fresh ideas!
Carrie1122 replied to The New Kel's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
You can also use califlower for your pizza crust. There are tons of recipes. The only advice I will give you is get a cheese cloth and squeeze the crap out of it. You want to get as much Water out of the cauliflower as you can. 1 small head made a small pizza. You make as many as you want and freeze it after you bake it. I also recommend flipping the crust in the oven to make sure it browns to your liking. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

pancakes. Mash the banana and add egg, use pam in the frying pan and wabam you got bananacake! You can spread almond butter, or make the powder Peanut Butter and spread it on the bananacake. Super low fat and 1 can fill you. Freeze the rest for another day! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

The pillow will be your friend for a few days after surgery. You will need it to help stabilize your new tummy if you cough or laugh or move the wrong way... so exciting! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Need help with insurance qualifications!
Carrie1122 replied to boots_and_bridles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Atena is the only one that I know that is a stickler and won't approve if you even gain a pound from the first time you have documented your weight. i maintained and bcbs had no issues with approving it. I think you will be fine as long as all of the doc's are in-line. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Brch! We are here for you! You just had surgery. It's going to take bit! Just think of this, you are pushing a walker around you are using more energy and muscle strength. Before you know it the walker is going to be in a corner and dusty! The weight will come off. You had major surgery you dropped 70 pounds prior! Your body is in super shock! Just sip Water through out the day and your Protein shakes (if allowed) When you get up to go do something keep adding steps. If you go to the bathroom go, then when you are done go back and forth anywhere in your home. Count your steps and keep adding. If you are watching t.v. Get your walker and do steps in place and count them, write it down, and in a few days or when you feel ready add a few more steps. Its low impact and you are burning fat away. Much ❤️ shasha! I have the fitbit alta. I like it because its smaller wrist band and it yells at me. The reset does work, a local in area is doing it now. You are just going back to basics not that I am a doc. My pre-op was 7 days, I would suggest two weeks depending on how much carbs you have had. And then do your soft foods again. But remember exercise is the key to weight loss and a healthy life. I am so glad you finding peace with all of us on the board. Don't be depressed this is for you and no one else! Surgery is helper not a solution. I also doubt you are holding more. It takes years to stretch out the pouch. You are probably eating slider food and that is why u can eat more. Pick a date and do a reset of some-what of a pre-op diet. Protein shakes, and cooked veggies and just cut out the carbs. No bread, Pasta. And walk, if you don't have a fitbit I recommend it , depending on which on you have or want to get it will yell at you to do your steps. I love my fitbit it makes me walk or step. And You can just do steps in your home and it will count it. Its hard to be around enablers, have a sit down conversation with them. Stock up on the yogurt, Jello, broth, if they are eating food you want grab your yogurt or a Protein shake or leave the room. Don't let them dictate or sabotage your weight goal. And remember we are here on the board for you! You can have the burger just make it at home, and no bread and use a George foreman so the grease drops. You can do this! And you look ahhhmazing! MY EX TRIED TO TEAR ME DOWN
Carrie1122 replied to Renea Glover's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Shellee, you hit the nail on the spot with a hammer! My best friend and I adore her so much. I broke down and told her I am getting the sleeve done. She ended up crying and wanting me to hold her. She was so worried that my attitude would change. I asked her why? She said to me I know a few people that got it done and their attitudes changed and I did not like it. She mentioned 1 person that we both knew (co-workers). So this was a concern for me because prior to surgery and prior to my recent marriage I was with someone for 10 years and I left him. And I was solo for 5 years or so. In that time-frame I worked on myself and became who I am now. So of course the running through my head am I going to change and "what is going to happen"... So going through everything that needs to be done for surgery 6 head-shrink sessions, I asked my shrink about this and told her my concern that my bff is so afraid of loosing me because of what she experienced. She told me "think about it, that person was like this before surgery."! I sat and thought about it and told her she was right.. i ran to my bff and told her that I brought this up to her. My bff said I am so happy we have no filter and we can talk open and honest about this because I love you and I cannot loose you. So I recently just saw her after dropping 28 pounds. And she said "we cannot be friends anymore"! You have more energy and you drive my kids insanely crazy now! I told her I cannot help it they are not mine so the "aunt has special privileges of driving kids crazy and leaving them with the parents" ! I go that is ! I went to babysit them while she was at the doc's. And 24/7 we all talk about the beach (we are beach bums) so the boys wanted to pretend they were there so we put the beach slides on the t.v. And I had my beach chairs in my car so I got them. She comes home and say's what the hell? I said we are pretending to be at the beach since you did not win the lottery yet! At least I didn't bring the sand in from the sandbox! . "See I told you I haven't changed"! She said no"you just got crazier"! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Reanea- Just think all that BS talk and do's. its a new year a new you and just added fuel to your fire! They are jealous, he is jealous, because he is and they are not your enabler any more! You have gained control of your destiny and now you have the power. You will define who is there for you and who you will be there for. I noticed "gym" life, weightloss "life" changes who you surround yourself and most important is WHAT is important to you as human and as a woman! I love your smile and you look so awesome! Be proud, be you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
