When will I feel normal?
MrsPenguin replied to sill21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 12 days out and the gas is almost completely gone. My incisions are healing well and I feel pretty good...walking every day and devoted to caring for myself as I heal. Putting myself first right now. You will feel better every day you wake up. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -

I'm 12 days post op and on pureed foods. I took a curry soup from the grocery store and blended it in my super blender until no lumps. Thing is, it's just slightly spicy. Is that okay for me at this stage? Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

I broke my pills in half, then put them on my tongue as far back as I could without gagging, then a sip or two to get it down. That worked for me Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -

It is so normal to be scared plus some other feelings may crop up. I cried like a baby my second night in the hospital and at other times wondered if I'd done the right thing. It's okay and normal to have all these feelings...just let them happen and be kind to yourself. You're going to great...and better than ever! Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Does this get better?
MrsPenguin replied to Juliafinallylosesit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 12 days post surgery. It WILL get better! My mantra has been, "tomorrow, I will feel better." I found taking a deep breath and holding it helped me when I felt the upper gas pressure. GasX strips can help with the intestinal gas. Water has not been my favorite thing because it doesn't go down as easily as juice or broth...not sure why. But I make myself drink it and mix half and half with juice to help with that. I also found walking while sipping seemed to be easier too. Hang in there! This is not week 2 per se, but I find a couple of thin slices of fresh ginger root in chicken, beef and vegetable broth to be most delicious and wonderful. Of course the ginger isn't eaten.

No one told me I was brave for having the sleeve surgery and taking control of my health for the second half of my life...so I am telling myself that. I am BRAVE! And now I'm telling all of you. You are courageous souls for taking this step and I honor you! Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Reason for Sugar Free?
MrsPenguin replied to MrsPenguin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am basically just having a teaspoon of honey in my morning tea, drinking diluted juice with no added sugar, so I'm not adding sugar to anything and will do my best to keep my sugar low. It seems to be okay so far. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -
What are the reasons that most post op diets require sugar free? Is it a calorie thing, or is sugar bad for a new sleeve? Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

SURGERY EVE: emotions running wild, jitters, sadness, confusion, scared, alone
MrsPenguin replied to Gucci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery in Mexico 10 days ago, but not with your surgeon. I was scared too and my family was incredibly nervous. Everything went just fine though. I found the facility to be clean and the staff very efficient. I got good care. It is in their best interests to make sure your surgery is sucessful, orherwise word gets out and they lose business. I'm sorry you're alone, but I will be thinking of you and praying it all goes very smoothly for you! Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -

I had sleeve surgery 9 days ago with a bmi of 34. My surgeon told me that eventually my body would know when to stop losing weight and would come to a natural equilibrium. For me, getting too thin could be remedied by increasing calories. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
