MrsPenguin replied to 907city2farmgrl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Yes, I had single incision surgery in Mexico on Dec. 5th. It went very well. Anything in particular you'd like to know? -

Can't tell weight coming off
MrsPenguin replied to nikki0910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgery fixes the body, but not always the mind. Its' easy to get caught in the web of obsessing about self-image. Talking to a counselor or therapist can help. -

Question about incision sites
MrsPenguin replied to White Sale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so scared of popping something open, that I am being ultra careful about doing anything remotely strenuous. I am 25 days from surgery and still taking it easy. The chores will have to wait. This first couple of months is about giving my body the chance to heal properly. My incisions are healing well. Keeping them clean and protected. -
I had mine in Tijuana. Went great, no issues and I had good care. Very clean.

Just keep sipping...that is a priority for you right now...to stay hydrated. Sucking on ice might help too. Water can be hard to get down at first. Take small sips and I found taking a deep breath can sometimes relieve that stuck feeling. Mixing a little bit of juice in water made drinking a lot easier for me. What you are going through its normal. Every day will get better. Hang in there!

Your experience is very similar to mine. Thanks for sharing! -
My surgeon said to start taking Biotin on my 11th post op diet day. I'm not exactly sure how much to take. Anyone else taking biotin? How much? Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Cannot eat certain foods after 2 years!?
MrsPenguin replied to Beedee90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this. Have you seen a dietician or nutritionist? Perhaps there is some sort of probiotic you can take that would help? They might have some strategy that can help you. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -

Yet Another Naysayer, Grrr!
MrsPenguin replied to Kimba Maria Wiggins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, people just don't understand that the surgery is the only thing that will work for folks like us who have lost and regained so many times. I plan on not telling many people just because I know I will get sick of explaining and I don't want to hear the negativity. When people notice the weight loss, I will just say, "yeah I've been working on it." Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -
What do you do when you get home from MX with no doctor around?
MrsPenguin replied to eccampbe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went from Mexico to New Zealand a week after surgery. I was given a post op diet by my surgeon, but I have had to take responsibility for my post op care. I spent a lot of time researching what to do and also made a list of questions for the surgeon. In New Zealand, I have made an appointment with my GP here just to let him know I did the sleeve and have an appointment with a bariatric nutritionist to make sure I'm on the right track. Good luck with your journey and do some homework ahead of time. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -
Drain area
MrsPenguin replied to Fallinginlovewithmeagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some burning sensations around my incisions, but not severe. It was just part of healing. Now they itch...also part of healing. I guess if it doesn't get better in a day or so, or if you get a fever, get in touch with your doctor. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -
What did you put in your fridge? (Groceries for post-op)
MrsPenguin replied to Kila Rass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I boiled carrots, potato, a few thin slices of ginger root and half a bay leaf in 16 oz of seasoned chicken stock, until the vegies were tender. Removed the ginger slices and bay leaf, then whizzed the soup in a blender until smooth. OMG, it tasted so good. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -

Anyone else this sore!
MrsPenguin replied to justabitunique's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was still fairly miserable with the CO2 and the intestinal gas 5-6 days out. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App -
That's kind of a mean thing to say...that you could do it on your own. Yeah, I did it on my own so many times I lost count, only to gain it back plus more. I am not like some other people, I needed the surgery. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Bummer, I just ordered some. Why would Bariatric Pal sell them if they are cap? [sad face] Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
