Hi - just wanted to start a new thread for those of us who had our surgery last month. Hoping to get to know you guys. In the past, I've found on-line forums to be amazing support if we engage. Anyway - I'm one week post-op. Still having pain. Luckily, I'm not hungry. Trying to get in all of my fluids. Oh - and today was the first day I weighed what I did when I went in for surgery. I gained 14 pounds in the hospital. I know it's fluids, but wow! So hoping everyone is doing well.

My new not so new stomach
TXJess replied to Mindy78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only a month out. it isn't so much what I eat, but how much. I am learning. There is no last bite. If my stomach says "I'm good". Stop. If I don't I'm miserable. I hate the nausea. -
Mentally preparing for Girl Scout Cookie sales which start tomorrow in my neighborhood
TXJess replied to trekker954's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Tagalongs were my favorite. I could easily eat an entire box in one sitting. Just pace yourself and maybe have some milk. Sigh.... I wonder how I got here. I was a girl scout and I have two boy scouts so I do support them. If any girl approaches me to buy Cookies, I will. However, this year, I will just donate to the Troops. Or buy a box and give it to a stranger. I had the bypass so I'm assuming that I will dump if I eat any sugar. It's helping right now, but I'm only a month out. Next year will likely be harder for me on the cookie sales. -
Oh, I had the hernia repair too. Turns out it was significant. Maybe that was the pain Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

I think all of it is fascinating. I learned so much and feel it could really be the next big discoveries in medicine. I'm going to go read that paper now???? I really do wish you good health. Most people take it for granted. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -
High blood pressure after surgery
TXJess replied to KendraLynne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pain can and does cause high bp. If they brought your pain down, your bp should drop if that is the cause. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -
ARE YOU FEELING HUNGRY RNY vs VSG
TXJess replied to kell911's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm four weeks out with rny. I'm still not hungry. It's a bit of an issue because I need to eat for some energy, but everything sounds horrible. It Wil get better. And I'm a third of my way to goal already. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -
Yeah, I ran out of pain meds by day 10. Sitting for any length of time was horrible. I was in so much pain. For me it was the big incision on the left side. Week one, hard to move, get out of bed or sit up. Week two, could roll over but still couldn't lay on my left side. Week three starting to lay on my left side. The pain came and went, but if I got tired I would hurt, or maybe I hurt because I was tired. Week four, I had a few days without pain, then overdid it, and was in pain. This week is no pain. It will get better. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

I ultimately decided to do the Iron Patches to start with. Iron is hard on my stomach and I don't need anymore of that. I also subscribed to the Tessa. It's like a Vitamin keurig. I'll use that for my multi. It mixes liquid Vitamins, which absorb better. Anyway, I'll update after a few weeks. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

So I'm wondering if anyone has tried them or discussed with your dr. I'm trying to simplify this as I feel like I'm obsessing about Water, Protein and Vitamins. Yeah, if I could just plug in an IV line every few days, that would be great too. ???? Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

So inspiring. You look great, and your skin doesn't show that there used to bring 140pounds in there. Beautiful. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

Good to know. I have two more weeks until I can have either, but I really would like a few bites of steak. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

Is there really any other way to eat it? I mean, why ruin a good steak by over cooking it???? Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

Reward for meeting weight loss goal
TXJess replied to Hazel_eyez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My reward is going to be hiking in colorado this summer with my kids. I won't be wearing my 100 pound "backpack" anymore, so I'm excited to do that and rafting. Both things I couldn't do last summer. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -
2 months post op (RNY) and i am HUNGRY!
TXJess replied to healthyholly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did he call you back? You ok? Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -
I agree. There was another thread on here about how we cheated by having surgery. Whatever, it's their ignorance. I honestly had that internal fight with myself on why I couldn't just lose weight on my own. I finally realized that I have, many times. But I always put it back, plus more. The stats are behind me on the surgery though. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

Protein for Baking/Cooking
TXJess replied to hayleyf3706's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have heard that the Quest brand makes good Protein for baking. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -
for some odd reason, my sense of smell and taste are way overly sensitive. I can barely eat sugar free things (like a popsicle) because it is too strong.

1 to 3 months post op, how many calories?
TXJess replied to chula82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one month out and get about 600 calories per day on a good day. But, I've been struggling to get in my Protein. The shakes make me sick. The Isopure flavor is overwhelming. I hate the texture of unflavored protein. I tried a Protein Bar and it took me 45 minutes to eat 1/2 of it. Sigh. -
Yes!!! For the past three nights, I have gone to bed nauseated. It's miserable. And several hours after last eating. I'm not chugging Water before bed. Just sips. And yes, I burp all of the time. I don't know if I'm swallowing air when I drink water or what.

Clear liquid diet starts today!
TXJess replied to Misty Barnhart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Inspire ready made drinks will fill you up and give you lots of Protein. My nutritionist said the count as clear liquids. Also scout jelly. You just have to be able to see through it. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App Isopure not inspire stupid auto correct. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -

2 Days Out - feeling pretty awful
TXJess replied to Holly McQuillan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@RunningWithScissors the pain block is real. I had my gall bladder out in Sept. Had the block, worked perfectly. No pain at all. Lovely. Had one for my bypass in Dec and it didn't work for me at all. Dr. Said they have no idea why it works for some and not all. He did say the left incision is bad because it is the biggest, there are internal stitches, and lots of nerves in at area. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -
2 months post op (RNY) and i am HUNGRY!
TXJess replied to healthyholly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said to call immediately if that happened. That is a symptom of too much acid and or an ulcer. Not to be alarmist, but call. You don't want to end up with ulcers. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App
