January thread for Dec. 2016 bypass
TXJess replied to TXJess's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm lucky if I get 50g of Protein a day now. And that's only because I choke down 10 ounces of dispute to get 20 there. I just can't eat much at a time. I still haven't finished an entire scrambled egg. But every day I try to do better. The good thing is that I'm not missing food. The bad thing is that I'm still feeling run down. Hoping that improves soon. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -

Digestive problems many years after gastric bypass - help needed
TXJess replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven't had all, but had some, then had an illness a few years ago where I did a lot of research. Try a high quality probiotic. Also stuff to feed it, kombucha, keifer, etc. Have you tried giving up gluten? There are a lot of things that can cause those symptoms, but you are rig h t to be concerned. Yeah, I have that problem. I have to measure stuff, which is hard if you are out. Twice, I've made myself sick. Hoping to learn soon. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

I have had two friends who were infertile with no real reason. One was tiny. After she gained 20 lbs, she conceived. Another, was a friend who did medifast with me. She was infertile for so long, they adopted two babies. Seven years later (her kids now 7 and 4), she did medifast. Three months in, she finds out she is pregnant. Turns out, if you lose weight quickly, it messes with your hormones. So, the lesson is to now use bc until the year Mark. And good luck!!! Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

Hey Joules! I'm just a few weeks behind you. I'm struggling with getting my Protein in. I hate the shakes now. I m on soft foods already and it's ok. Most things I've tolerated, but I haven't been adventurous or anything. My pain is finally decreasing at almost three weeks. But it's all good. I'm still steadily losing. Scared of not feeling full
TXJess replied to cls5186's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I don't get that feeling. I have to measure. Twice now I've eaten too much (like three ounces instead of two), and it makes me physically sick. Nauseated for hours. I'm learning. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -

Congrats! 15 pounds is a good weight gain for seven months. Talk to your obesity. That dr. Is who matters most right now. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App -
Don't panic. Call your insurance company first. It was likely a mistake. Second, file an appeal. Get your documents together. Also, pull in your husband's employers benefits people to help you. Get your dr office to help. They have an interest in getting paid and are experts at this. It will be ok. You just need to make some phone calls. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

I had my gallbladder out about 90 days prior to surgery. My dr. Said they couldn't be within six weeks of each other. It's recovery time between. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

liquid diet is really hard. But post surgery diet is really hard too. You need to have a long think about whether you are ready. Right now, it isn't life threatening, but it will be after surgery. If you think you are ready, then prove it to yourself by following your diet this week. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

Wish I could love this instead of just liking it. So many of us have that clean plate mentality drilled into us as kids. Getting over that is a huge thing. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App

All good advice. The first point made me laugh. I have a good friend who's husband gets the hiccups when he is full. She said the doctor had never heard of it. But here it is - I can tell her that he is not alone! Thanks for some of that advice too. I'm still in recovery and will use it going forward. -
Pre-op diet, lost 20# in less than 2 months, feeling great....but.....
TXJess replied to Carrie Marlene Denton's topic in The Gals' Room
I have the Mirena too. I've had it replaced twice now - had it for 10 years. About a week post-op, I had my first period in about five years. It was really light, but it was there. Oh and a word to the wise. Sudden weight loss can make you extra fertile. I had a friend who was doing Medifast with me who was infertile. The doctors didn't know why, but she just was infertile. she adopted two kids over the years. They were like 8 and 4 when she started MF. Three months later she was pregnant. guess what - rapid weight loss changes your hormones. Anyway - call your doctor and see if there is anything they can do for you until your hormones even out. -
So, today marks the one month anniversary from when I started my pre-op diet. In that month, I have lost 22 pounds!!! That is almost 1 pounds a day. I'm just so excited and thankful! Who else is celebrating today? Join in please!!!

sure - I would love to see any tips and guidance I can Maybe some of the issue is because our doctors can't agree on anything. Seriously - the variety of guidance and diet we get is amazing given it is the same two or three procedures. But I love to see tips - encouragement, etc. -

So sorry. I'm always amazed how brave people feel behind a screen. They say and do things they would never do in person. I'm just sorry they took away your good feelings and sense of pride. I hope when the dust settles you'll be able to get it back. -
Yeah, it's sugar withdrawal. It sucks. Day 4 should be better. Sent from my KFTBWI using the BariatricPal App
