Hey all, So I've been using Couch to 5K and it's been absolutely brilliant for me. I need some guidance and Couch to 5K provides it for me. It's also forced me to walk a lot more (I'm at 11K~ average steps a day). Now I need something for weight training. I don't want to get big, I want to get lean. I need to add muscle. Basically - my question is, I need something similar to Couch to 5K - something that will start me off easy. I'm absolutely horrible with weight training so I need some guidance! Thanks.

Weight Training Plans similar to Couch to 5K
HomerThompson replied to HomerThompson's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Just wanted to give everybody an update - I finished Couch to 5K today. It probably took me 12 weeks instead of the standard 9 - because of early on. I started running at about 330 pounds - I was very achy. Now, I am 250 pounds. I can now jog for 45 minutes straight. I can not recommend this program highly enough. I only jog 3 days a week, and eat well - but I am a guy who was never able to jog 2 minutes without stopping. Long story short - anybody who is on the edge about getting involved - do it. If I can do it, anybody can. I plan on enrolling in a 5K at the end of the year and I've never felt better. -
3 days out, remorseful, worried and depressed
HomerThompson replied to Jamesarwin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Want to give you my background in terms of depression - I'm 29. I have been depressed maybe 3 times my whole life. When I consider depression, I say for longer than 2 days at a time. This surgery made me depressed. It's completely normal. I had my surgery in December, was with my family for 3 weeks, and then went home (I live by myself) and that's when I got depressed. I consider myself a very happy person and even this surgery got me down. To make you feel better, I am almost down now 100 pounds 3 months post op (lost about 20-30 pounds a month before surgery). It will pass. -
Weight Training Plans similar to Couch to 5K

Sorry for not getting back sooner - about Couch to 5K. I started at 381 (pre surgery).. by the time surgery happened (12/13), I was 341. A month later when I was cleared to run/jog I was about 320, and I started running. It starts out quite easy. Don't say... "oh well this is too easy" because it ramps up big time once you get to Week 3/ Week 4. If I don't do what it recommends, I repeat it until the week is finished. So right now I'm in week 4 but I would say I've been doing it for 5 weeks. So I'm re-doing it at times. When you are as heavy as I am, it gets hard! But it's been one of the best things I've done. P.S I'm down to 294 now 2 months post surgery. I've had very short pleateaus but I end up just running more. Also, I make it so I average 10K steps a day, EVEN if I do C25K. Let me know if you have any questions. -

How long after surgery did you wait to see PCP?
HomerThompson posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long until after surgery did you wait to go see your PCP? Really want to get off the blood pressure medicine but obviously won't do it without doctors approval. I don't see my surgeon for another 2 weeks for my month post op so just wanted to check with you guys to see how you handled. Thanks! -
Feeling guilty I guess

Take a deep breath. Holidays are almost over. The urges will almost be gone. You're almost there. -
This is good to hear. I went to the doctor for my weekly post-up checkup. I've been feeling really well considering the surgery. But I'm always thirsty. I also have high blood pressure and take BP medicine. He also said my heartrate was high which could either be dehydration or a pouch leak. Now, I don't think it's a pouch leak because there is no other pain and no nauseusness. He said he wanted me to increase my fluid intake. It's already at 60oz. Going to double it to 80. But I'm glad to see others having the same "issue!"
