Any Men of March 2009 here?

Has it really been over a year since we had this done?? Doesn't feel like that to me, how bout everyone else. I assume since there hasn't been a post on this thread since July of 2009 that most of you have slowed down your visits to this site. Anyway, I'm going in for a fill again today and was just wondering how everyone was doing a year into being banded? Are you happy with it? Have you lost the weight you had planned on? As for me, I'm down 70 lbs since the surgery or about 2/3 of the way to my goal. It's been a little slower then I hoped but all in all I'd call it a success.

    PB, Sliming

Can anyone explain to me why I've gotten "stuck" on lunch meat twice but I can eat beef Jerkey without any problems? Can't be that I'm too tight or the meat being too dry....just seems kind of weird?!?!
  5. You bet.....you look great!!!! Looking forward to more of those great pics ;)

  6. Thanks for the picture comment :)

Any Men of March 2009 here?

What's up....I guess I'm joining this thread a little late but better late then never. I was banded on the 5th of March and was back at work on Monday the 9th. I lost 10 pounds the 1st week and am down another 4 pound this week. Going in for my 1st fill on April 2nd as I really don't have much of a restriction now. As for the surgery, I went in the at 1pm and was out of there by 4:30pm. Good luck everyone and I'll definetly keep you'all updated. Later
  8. Wow.....only three days away for me. My wife was asking me the other night if I was excited or scared and I was trying to explain to her that I was neither. I think both MissCheryl and Shoes did a great job explaining how I feel. More sad that it has came to this point, embarrased that others will find out and nervous about how my life will change. I know I will probably have to spill the beans at some point but when and where is the question. This month alone is my birthday, a poker party and a golf trip (all of whick typically include copius amounts of alcohaul and food). So now I have to decide how to deal with these social situation where I will obviously be acting "differently". With all that being said, I am excited and can't wait for the big day!!!!!!

    BCBS-IL ????'s

DEANNKUSKE, I originally started this thread due to all of the horror stories I had heard about BCBS-IL both on this website and from my surgeon. But.....I was approved (within two weeks of submitting) and am scheduled to have the surgery on the 5th. I think as long as you have your ducks in a row you will be fine. If you take the time to read through the posts on here you should find some of the more common reasons why people are denied and hopefully avoid them. Good Luck!!!!

    BCBS-IL ????'s

pnksplash, I can answer a couple of your questions based on my experience......It actually says in the BSBS-IL policy that you must have been on a Dr. supervised weight loss plan for 6 months out of the last two years. I had speradic appointments over a 24 month period but never 6 months in a row and I got approved in less then two weeks. The general office visists will work fine for your 5 year history. Good Luck
  11. Hey Kamala, you're not the only guy on here. I got approved yesterday....my date is March 5th. I'm loving the March Madness but it probably won't win any polls here. Good Luck Bro

Got it.........Just got a call from the Surgeon's office and BCBS approved the surgery!!!!! Looks like they can't get me in till the 1st week of March so I have a month to wait but at least it's gonna get done. Thanks for all the support and I'll keep everyone updated on the progress. YeeHaw!!!!

    BCBS-IL ????'s

I was wondering if anybody had experience with the 6 month Dr. supervised diet required prior to approval of the lap band. The wording in my plan states that you must have been on a Dr. supervised weight loss plan for at least 6 months in the last 2 years. So.....starting in April of 2007 I started seeing a doctor for about 5 months. I then stopped for 3 months, started again for another 4 months and then saw him off/on over the last year. I saw him a total of 16 times in a 20 month period but never for 6 months straight?!?!?! I've read a lot of the posts and looks like it just kind of depends on the provider but I submitted my documents three days ago and am starting to get a little ansty..... Thanks for all the help.
