Hello, @@Bakergrl214 I've been eating ice cubes and drinking Water at night to combat hunger Today I set a timer to know when to eat (still on full liquids). I'll see if it helps my hunger tonight, but so far today has gone well.

Well, this thread went off the rails... Where's my Kalashnikov when I need it? Really, though, anyone have any good cheese recipes for pureed and soft food stages?

I NEED a cracker!
White Sale replied to Wonder WomanNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You do not need it, but you REAAALLLLY want it. Go crunch some ice cubes to satisfy that urge. I froze some pickle juice to crunch on to get over this same feeling - just had one a couple of hours ago. You can do this!!! -
Full liquid diet help
White Sale replied to mstrice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hiya, @@mstrice! Strained is not the same as pureed. They want you to strain the cream of vegetable soup to get the veggie chunks, noodles, etc out, leaving behind only the soupy liquid for you to drink. I am on my full liquid diet right now. I have Water, premier Protein shakes, sugar-free Jell-O, thinned out Greek yogurt, sugar-free popsicles, and all kinds of Soups which I strain first and then thin out if I need to. I also add flavorless protein to the soups. When in doubt, always ask your doctor or nutritionist. Best to you! -

Did you ever...? (a bit gross)
White Sale replied to White Sale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You shouldn't assume that everyone who requires WLS is automatically a food addict. If you were to take a normal weight person and force them on a month long liquid diet, do you think they might chew a favorite food and spit it out for the sensation? You better friggin' believe they would. I realize it's not a healthy behavior and have no intentions on continuing, hence the frozen pickle juice. -
I'm soooo worried about this, too. I'm going to start dry brushing. Results online seem promising, but who knows? I also bought some compression garments for my arms and tummy. I got a percussion massager to use in conjunction with lotion (not sure which brand of lotion yet). It may be futile, but I gotta try. Been looking at body lift pictures lately and not very many of them look great, TBH. Major bummer.

Clear liquid question
White Sale replied to Eaumond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, @Eaumond. I'm 13 days PO, but my surgeon wouldn't allow me to have Protein until day 8, so I did not have your experience/issues with it. However, there is a brand I like which is flavorless called Syntrax nectar Medical unflavored. I bought mine on Amazon. I can't taste it at all and I put it in my more savory liquid foods like Soups and broths. Highly recommended. -
Confession: I drink soda. Anyone else?
White Sale replied to ella37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm grateful that I was never that into soda. Although they made a vanilla Pepsi with "real" sugar that is pretty heavenly... Starbucks iced white mochas, on the other hand, may become an issue for me, lol! -
I start puree stage in two days. I've already bought the cheese for Eggface's Ricotta Bake. I *may* be just a little too excited about getting to have cheese. Has anyone here ever tried Argentinian provoleta? OH LAWD... It's a hunk of round provolone cheese, about an inch thick, seasoned, and grilled on the BBQ until the outside is crispy. I'd almost kick a baby for a bite of some right now...

Full Liquid Diet - Questions About "Mealtimes"
White Sale posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy New Year All! I'm PO day 12 and in the middle of my full liquid diet stage. Walking everyday. Still having hunger pangs. I'm curious about a couple of things... 1) Should I be setting aside "mealtimes" right now? My stomach swelling has definitely gone down. This evening I was able to have a little less than 4 ounces of tomato Soup with Protein powder mixed in. Is that too much? I didn't feel any discomfort, just more of a "it's time to stop" kinda feeling, but it took about 25 minutes or so. I'm thinking a better option would be to measure it out and give myself X amount of time to consume it. I was sipping on a Premier Portein shake throughout the day, would it be better to have a set amount of it at once? 2) If you remember, how much were you able to handle at once at this part of your experience? I'm worried about becoming a grazer, but at the same time really trying to meet my protein and Fluid goals. Not sure which should be a priority at this point. I can't even come close to meeting them if I don't have that darn shake in my hand all the time. BTW, I'm seeing hints of my long-lost clavicles - WOOT! Thanks for your input. -
Full Liquid Diet - Questions About "Mealtimes"

I'm thinking I may follow a similar plan for now. Try to get my protein in every 2 hours. My ability to fit it all in should improve with my healing. -

Cold water obsessed
White Sale replied to luli1690's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, brand is everything when it comes to Water. Dasani and Aquafina are terrible. Anything that's been filtered is terrible. I LOVE water, but only spring water like Zephyrhills or Fiji or even store brand, so long as it isn't "drinking water." I drink so much I can definitely taste difference between types and brands. -
10 days post op...question
White Sale replied to vsg_malexander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome, @@vsg_malexander! I've lost 11 lbs. Is this normal?! It's awesome! more than a pound a day?! It isn't magic, patience. IDK what your weight before surgery was, but heavier/high BMI people lose more at first I feel like I haven't lost what I'm supposed to for some reason. Looks to me like you've done amazing. It might be in my head, but I've had this anxious feeling like "what if this doesn't work for me?" Totally normal. After all, every other time you've lost weight it hasn't worked. So you've learned that "it never lasts" over time. BUT I encourage you to read the posts of vets here who are 1, 2, 3 years post-op. Discovering that they really did change their whole relationship with food and exercise will keep your head on straight. Also, I feel very low energy. Of course - you're having hardly any nutrition and you just had your insides carved out. You need to heal. I'm post-op day 11 and definitely have less energy than before surgery. I know when I went from clear to full liquids, I got a boost. Excited to go from full liquids to puree foods and get another shot of energy. Don't be too hard on yourself! -
Sips. Sips. Sips.
White Sale replied to brennafaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@CakesItUp - I did the 15mL starting PO day 4 or so. Everyone is different, so maybe start a 5mL and see how it goes, then increase bit by bit. Be sure to leave a minute or two between "practices" so you know that you've swallowed it all. -
5 days post op hungry
White Sale replied to mstrice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds awful to me, LOL (not a cabbage person here), but it depends what diet your surgeon has you on right now. If it's Clear liquids, I'd imagine cabbage broth would be perfectly fine. I'm 11 days PO and still hungry. Hang in there! -

BAM! Lightbulb - I' going to freeze the pickle juice and crunch on the ice from now on! I've been exercising regularly and am discovering new ways to occupy my time, thanks. I know what I did wasn't protocol, but I was looking for feedback from others who did the same as myself, without judgement. Yikes, a room full of people spitting out food sounds awful. @@c86mc @@RNY_Honeybee @@ky Dan @@brennafaith - good to know I'm not alone! No one is perfect. -
Sips. Sips. Sips.
White Sale replied to brennafaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used a medicine cup to measure out 15mL of Water to get the "feel" for sips. It was tedious, but I wanted to learn because, same as you, I just really don't wanna mess this up. After decades of never sipping, it'll take some time. -
Fun question about weight loss challenge
White Sale replied to m3go25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I disagree. The reason I had WLS is because I could not lose weight the "traditional" way. If I could, I never would have done something so extreme as to cut out one of my organs. For me, a more fitting analogy would be participating in a bird watching competition where everyone had 20/20 vision but I had nearsightedness. -
Fun question about weight loss challenge
White Sale replied to m3go25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmm, interesting question. I'd review the rules and if there's no ban on WLS then go for it. You'll be eating correctly and exercising, just like the other participants. I say do it! It'll be further motivation!
