Froggi I love your frogs. I have a pet frog and I get so excited when I see and hear frogs. We have had tons of rain this year so I have been seeing lots of the little guys!! -
Complications are pushing back my banding date.....I think
MaidMarion replied to MaidMarion's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your kind words everyone. I am just kinda in a holding pattern. I go for an MRI on Thursday unless miraculously my senses come back tomorrow or Wednesday. I do have high hopes of that exact thing happening in order to save me the $2000. Honestly today I could swear I smelled the smoke from a little bbq stand that sets up in front of my local grocery store. It may be wishful thinking. On the weight loss....yes I have officially this morning lost 45 lbs since March 6th although most of that has come since the first week in April. I have a lot to lose mind you but I have never had problems losing it just staying one step ahead of it so it doesn't find me again. It has come from two things. I started a very physical job in a school cafeteria....I know sounds like a crazy job for someone who loves to eat who is getting banded...I was up and lifting 40 lb boxes and generally working out for about 4 hours a day. Then I thought I was having allergy problems. My doctor thought the same. Then figured out it was a sinus infection along with 2 different antibiotics and only 3 days off work but I lost my sense of smell. food is now depressing. I so want to taste it but I can't. Everything has been about texture or temperature now. I swear the last two days I am getting hints of smells I think. The steroids are making me nuts though. No hyper angry woman oh no I am a bawling tired mess. I am feeling more positive tonight though. Maybe I could move my date back a bit. I just really liked the date I had.....seemed like a nice lucky date. Thanks again for the support. Nancy I do feel your pain. I have been going to the chiropractor for the last 10 days or so every day for spinal decompression. Mind you I thought I was the picture of health until April! Then found sinus infections, lack of senses, and two fractures in my lower spine!! I really need to stay away from doctors.....they do not seem to be good for my health right now. -
What makes me different?

LOL I wish my psych evaluation had been so funny. I really want to go to that guy. I have a mouth like a sailor myself and anytime I have been to a psych or therapist I always feel like I have to watch my mouth. Good luck to you. I would have died if my nutrition consult had been at Starbucks.....that is just crazy! -
Complications are pushing back my banding date.....I think
MaidMarion posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am now getting concerned that some health issues unrelated to my weight are going to push back my banding date. I have been without a sense of smell for just over 10 weeks. Because of this I can not taste anything. It started after I sprayed Round Up and then came down with a sinus infection. I went to my PCP and he was totally thrown. I have had two rounds of antibiotics and a round of steroids which I really hate because they make me cry....a lot. Now I have gone to an ear nose and throat specialist. He wants to do an MRI on my brain to just rule out a brain tumor. Now honestly I in no way think it is a tumor but he says he can't comfortably say that. So now on top of having some expensive spinal decompression done this month.....totally worth it as I am 100% better I now have to pay out of pocket for an MRI! :cursing: I am due to be banded July 14th. I liked the date as I think it should be lucky but I am beginning to wonder if higher powers are really against me having this done. Money is about to become a very big issue. On the plus side as of this morning I have lost 42 lbs since March 6 and most of that has come since Easter. If there is a possibility I will never taste again I don't really see any reason to be banded but I was so ready to have it done. Sadly though I have absolutely no urge to eat.....even while taking steroids. I actually find the act of eating horribly depressing. I am just at a loss right now and I needed to talk about it I suppose. Everyone around here just acts like I should be thrilled to be losing weight so easily but honestly I would so much rather be able to taste at least a single bite than not anything at all. I can not tell you how many times I have heard....oh I wish that would happen to me so I wouldn't want to eat. -
This reminds me of going to my doctor once when I had been having a period off and on for about 6 weeks. I got up on the table he is there and his nurse my feet are in up in the air and I sit bolt upright (yep in those days I could do that from that position) and said OMG I still have a tampon in to which he said no problem got a little spit bowl thingy and popped it right out. I could have died. Thank God it was a new fresh barely bloody thing. I swear I changed doctors about a year later. I could never get passed that.

Anyone get new insurance just for WLS?
MaidMarion replied to amanda2008's topic in Insurance & Financing
I know the insurance at my work which I don't have and at this rate probably won't even though it kicks in with permanent part time employment 20 hours a week for all 12 months, won't cover it for at least 12 to 18 months because it is a pre-existing condition.....yeah really??? I would say you would have to see the policy to know for sure. Do you know anyone who works there? -
My surgeon told me I would have to get over my love of sushi because rice is a problem food for most people forever. Now mind you sushi rice is sticky rice but my guess is you have a ball of rice down there. It will either break-up with the hot tea or it will come up. Mind you I am just speculating. Hope your tea is the cure-all for you.

Drugs that counteract weight gain with anxiety and depression
MaidMarion replied to brandyII's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not been banded yet and I luckily don't seem to suffer from depression but I am on Wellbutrin to control cravings! I don't smoke but they found that people who took Zyban which is wellbutrin lost weight as they quit smoking. I asked my surgeon to put me on Wellbutrin just to see what happened because I have had such a long wait to be banded and I have lost 40 lbs since March. It is interesting because I have to think to remember to eat. -
all those are right. I am petitioning that we change productive burping to purping or something.....the pb is ruining peanut butter for me!

Did U Have 2 Have The 500+ Psychological Evaluation?
MaidMarion replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow my visit with the psychologist was really a visit with a social worker making sure I would have a good support base. She did ask why I wanted to be banded and what my expectations were and what I thought would be the most difficult about it but no big test certainly nothing with 500 questions. I did have to take a behavior modification class and we did some true false stuff there to find out about issues with boundries and stresses. -

That's cool! well actually that's hot but that sounds like that damn Paris Hilton. My goal is to run in the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving. I have always thought it seemed like a wise way to start the day. Congratulations! Hopefully it will cool off pretty soon for you guys out east. I am sure that is miserable.
