    Pain Meds?

Oh and which surgery are u having performed? The RNY will be more invasive than the sleeve. So that will vary your acute postop pain control Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pain Meds?

I thought I was tough but I required the pain meds in the hospital- could have used more than the Percocet 5mg q 4 hours, and Dilaudid day of surgery and first day postop- then it was dcd. I was in the hospital 3 days, very rough on this 44 yo. Went home on Lortab liquid and Tylenol. I thought, like you, that I would not need it--- every person, each surgeon I'm sure has differing surgical methods... I have had gallbladder, bladder tact, reflux surgery, and went home on no pain meds. Not the case this time So I guess I'm saying you will know when the surgery is done what you will need. @@TXJess your regimen sounds insane from your NUT. I think my Surgeon would be happy to have me said "anything" was palatable. I hope things get better for you. I was started on Nexium and feels much better! But I have to go and get unflavored Protein to put in my drinks/choices of meals. Sounds yummy NR Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@dvallas my surgeon insisted I go to GNC and purchase the non flavored Protein and he also told me that they would work with me there on a more tolerable shake. He also placed me on Nexium for two weeks. I have been working so have been unable to make to GNC will go tomorrow #nomoreslimies Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Chest Pain/ Abd Pain/ Dry Heaves

Follow up- started on Nexium and went back to shakes of the evening and earlier eating/drinking times, AND have slept well, no sickness. It's so awesome to wake up to the morning instead of being up all night, sick. This girl has to work, so a hustling I must go ????‍♀️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am totally with you! I went to my surgeon follow up 1/17 and had to confess to him that "nothing" sounded good any more. My Protein intake has plummeted. He was not happy, but I get sick with solids/puréed. I've gone back to my liquids. I am so tired of being sick after eating and of the "slimies" that I would much rather play it safe. I have never been to an emergency room but I sure have been tempted to go!! ???? #hatetheslimies Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Best chewable and gummie vitamins?

What about Vitamin B12? My Dr ordered the nasal form and my insurance does not cover that Med which is $400/ mo in price and I cannot afford that. I have called his office with no response from them over two weeks ago He did not recommend any over the counter form of B12.... has anyone kept their levels up on the oral forms of B12? Week 5 post op

I also have light colored stools. If you had RNY and knowing that small bowel has been removed, that has been why I think my stool has been light. I had my gallbladder removed at a young age so I know that cannot be a reason for my stool changes. I do hope that is not the case for you- I would be so sad to think of the need of another surgery right now When you speak of light headedness and cramping- look up "dumping syndrome". There could be a correlation there. Keep us updated. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Chest Pain/ Abd Pain/ Dry Heaves

James, I want to thank you so very much for this information. I was told to try GNC and they could help w shakes and Protein requirements, so I am headed there today. You inspire me- I am in a very rural area with few resources so this app, including you, are about all that I have... Thanks again for all the advice above and those recipes are gonna help immensely! 15. Post RNY Dec 1, 2016. Post reflux surgery. I am having problems with foods mainly meats. Within two bites I suddenly become in excruciating pain to center chest and abd, and I dry heave. I also am unable to swallow my own spit without dry heaving it back up. This does not go away for over 6 hours. I am severely uncomfortable, and can not lay down nor stand up straight for very long. I can only tolerate the gas x strips. My surgeon did not seem very concerned yesterday when I saw him, he just wants me to try different, lighter meats. Then last night it occurred again I am trying the Protein shakes but they cause diarrhea and dairy is intolerable. Can anyone relate ? I have read about strictures. Could this be??
