Hey guys, just wanting to know if anyone from here is from Perth in Australia? Is there a particular group anyone chats in? I'm two months post surgery and it's going slow but well, however I'd love to chat with people in the same boat as me. My friends just don't get it and I'm feeling pretty lost. I'd love recommendations for someone who could coach/train me food wise (I'm so bored with food) and exercise NOR. I need someone who gets it all to help keep me encouraged and give some advice! Lost hardly anything in first month?
theonejess posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone hardly lost anything in the first month after surgery? I just hit 4 weeks post op today and I've only lost 5kg (11 lbs). My surgeon said in 4 weeks most people have lost between 8-12kg. I feel so broken as im not sure what I've done wrong. I've been following the plan almost perfectly, having enough Protein and Water but just am not moving anywhere. I've been stalled for the last week and a half already (and I know stalls are very common so I'm not too fussed at that), but I'm just concerned at the really small amount I've lost, considering this is meant to be the moment we lose the most the fastest. The surgeon said some people just lose really slowly but I have so much to lose, I did this to give it a kick start, not to lose as slow as I could without it.. Anyone else had trouble going to the toilet? I was told I was a super star the first day - onto Clear liquids and toileting fine a few hours out. 2nd day though they took me off the IV, gave me really gluggy paracetamol and then I was so bloated and gassy I couldnot drink a single thing or go to the toilet for 8 hours. Finally peed eventually but hadn't expressed wind. Finally last night and today I have started to release the gas for the first time but find as soon as I have one 60ml nourishing fluids I'm full and gassy and done for hours. Also I have to sit and wait at least 10min on the toilet to pee. Anyone else having these problems? Any solutions to relieving gas or not taking so long to pee. Been small sipping peppermint Water and walking as much as I can. Wounds arent too sore, it's the bloating that's killing me. Just got home from hospital and scared a little! Don't wanna mess this up! Sent from my SM-G930F using the BariatricPal App

I managed to get through preop with only one pre planned mishap, and surgery is now just one more day away. But have I made the right choice? My heads still all focused on food. How I'm never going to get to fully enjoy a whole burger again. How every meal will only ever be mouthfuls. It freaks me out! Also, if I managed to lose 8kg in two weeks doing the preop diet, do I really need to have surgery. My problem is it's not just a little weight i have to lose, it's 70kg. Can I keep up a diet for that long, it'd take years? I asked my best friend that and all I got back was, well a lot of people have managed to do it on their own but everyone's different. That one comment of "a lot of people" made me so mad and so confused. Why then am I having surgery if so many can lose weight without having to. For me, I know deep down I could maybe lose a lot of what I need to. But I also know I don't have the motivation or will power to diet for years or maintain it well after. I always put it back on. I just feel like I'm cheating or a loser for having surgery, even though I know it's what I need. Can I really detatch myself from food? It's always been so enjoyable. I'm just scared I'm not making the right choice. Sent from my SM-G930F using the BariatricPal App

If I'm struggling now, will I cope after?
theonejess posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three days into my preop diet on Optifast and I'm hating life right about now. I can't stomach the shakes as I did a month of a shake diet a while back and now the smell makes me gag. I'm living off optifast Desserts and bars as I don't like the Soups either. I'm having a bit of diet jelly in between but I am struggling. It's not even about the how little I'm eating but more about the cravings for normal food. I'm grumpy all the time and don't know how to snap out of it. I guess I didn't realise how badly I was addicted to food and how much life revolved around it. Surgery is booked December 22nd which I'm going to need my positivity to get through Christmas and new years but at least then i wont feel lile eating. It was now or next year for surgery due to work. Can anyone give any advice to try and get away from the focus of food and what I'm "missing out" on. I know in the long run this is such a small part, and it's going to get harder before it gets great... I guess I'd just love some encouragement. No one around me really gets how much I'm struggling right now with such a change in diet. Any other stories or struggles are welcome too! Sent from my SM-G930F using the BariatricPal App
