Pre-op diet starts today (help)
hayleyf3706 replied to Eaumond's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, I'm not much of a fish eater. But I CAN say that seasoning is key-- for both chicken and fish. Do cajun tilapia, chicken with chile powder and lime, stuff like that. Make it new every night. Also, when you're hungry, CHUG Water. It helps. Really. I was successful on my pre-op diet. Just do your best, be kind to yourself, and remember the goal. -
First consultation (#2) in 30 minutes and I'm going alone
hayleyf3706 replied to laurak814's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am proud of you for going! It's a hard decision to make, but ultimately it's yours, and could drastically change your life for the better! You will probably have to have a conversation with him tonight about it, since he knows... Just be honest with him. And ask him to be honest with you. -
@@amf1025 I know how you are feeling. This summer, I was incredibly sick. Bad headaches, throwing up, couldn't stay awake... The doctors really wanted a CT scan. Well, non of the machines at the table were made for my weight. Their limit was 450. I weighed 452. I was so depressed and SCARED. I went in a few months later for my surgery consultation. I weighed 470 then. Now down to 423! Do your research, make sure you find a doctor who makes you feel comfortable, and know that there are tons of people who support you!

@@theantichick That's a good idea, the half-pony. I'll try that @@toofatnopants Do you have a problem with the full face one leaking? Just curious cuz I've read that problem is more common with that type of mask.
-
@@theantichick Thanks so much for responding! Glad to know I'm not the only one who has struggled... That mask looks interesting! I'm gonna call today and talk to the lady who helped me. Another problem I have is that the strap keeps slipping up thanks to my hair. But I don't have enough hair to put it up. SIgh.

Need support/advice?
hayleyf3706 replied to justabitunique's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! Reading all this makes me feel a lot better... My surgery is this coming Thursday (12/23). I'm so excited, but starting to get nervous, too. -
Waiting insurance approval

Aetna has these advocates as well. Just call the member services on the back of your card. I can't imagine any company wouldn't have them.... -
Support from family and friends
hayleyf3706 replied to roxy53's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone in my life has been pretty supportive. Well... except one guy at work that I shouldn't have even told. Don't even like him LOL. I would just let your family know, "Look, you might not agree, but I need you to love and support me through it." Then they'll change their tune when they see how much you lose!!! -
I think it was @@southbound who was referencing it, but I looked it up and posted what I found just a minute or two ago. I guess I'm a confused mess! LOL. Thank you!

Who is choosing to keep surgery a secret?
hayleyf3706 replied to Kila Rass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm totally the opposite... I'm telling everyone! I'm so excited, and I want all my friends and family to keep me accountable and cheer me on! Plus, I want to kind of help reduce the stigma around it. I'm even blogging about it! www.becomingaloserblog.wordpress.com Not saying my way is the right way... just the route I chose! -
@@Jazzzyjay Didn't you mention following instagram accounts for 40% off? That's what I'm referring to
-
Wow, that's a great discount! Thanks. Sent from my Y538 using the BariatricPal App @@Jazzzyjay what are the names of some of the accounts?

Oh dear. I am so lucky to have a supportive husband. You do what is best for YOU. And if you don't get support from him, find it everywhere else you can. Like here!
-
You know, I've struggled with whether or not to do this, too. But if I could have lost this weight the so-called "right way", I wouldn't be here. There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of this tool to help yourself.

Waiting insurance approval
hayleyf3706 replied to lmay89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the feeling! I was SO anxious while I was waiting... Keep us updated! -
I feel that way when people give me dieting advice too. Like this guy at work lost a little bit of weight and all of a sudden he had a PhD! Didn't know you could get them that fast! Honestly, I would just say, "Hm. Well my doctor disagrees, so I'll just go with his opinion..."

Husband says he doesn't like skinny women...WTH!
hayleyf3706 replied to Dknal2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is so wrong. You deserve so much better than that. We all do. I know marriage takes a lot of love and hard work, and it's not easy to just walk away... But you need to do what is ultimately best for YOU. Hang in there, focus on your health, and don't let him get you down. -
Sooo how much weight did you lose 2 months post?
hayleyf3706 replied to Raymia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not post-op, so I'm no expert. But based on what I've seen and heard, my best guess would be that you're gonna be smaller, but your clothes now should still look okay. Might be looser, but shouldn't be too bad. -
Had my consult today and surgery scheduled for December!
hayleyf3706 replied to HRHMKB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having my surgery December 23! So I will probably not even be eating at Christmas! We'll just have to keep our eyes on the prizes and remember... Christmas will be here again in a year! -

I'm kind of weird, I really love chicken broth! LOL. Could you add some seasoning to it, maybe?? Just a little bit.
