I have decided to go with the Bypass over the sleeve as well. But this was because I was under the impression that it was reversible. Now a friend who had the sleeve is saying that it's not? I just don't know anymore. ☹️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App The gastric bypass is reversable in extreme situations as long as they leave the remanant stomach which they only rarely do not so you'll have to discuss that with your surgeon while the sleeve Gastrectomy is definitely not reversable as the rest of the stomach is disposed of.

I was recently put on hyoscyamine before every meal abs while the pain is still present it seems to be helping.

Oh no! So very sorry to hear your troubles. I too lost way too much weight too fast through illness post op. You must feel exhausted with all those health problems. Do you have family support? My surgeon is great and we have actually worked together several times since my mom and I work in the ER and he is one of our hospitals general surgeons. We're just at a loss about what to do.

Oh wow! What was your weight/height or bmi the day of surgery if you don't mind answering? The reason I ask is because my bmi is 36 and I have sleep apnea and PCOS. I don't even have my surgery date yet.I was 275lb at 5'6" so quite a bit and I did have GERD which I forgot about mentioning, the GERD was due to the hiatal hernia that I've had since I was a couple months old and I had the hiatal hernia fixed during the roux-n-y. I am currently 170 with a 7% body weight loss in the past three weeks.

Hi, I was hoping someone here would have an idea of what may be happening or any testing I could have done. I am 20 years old and last year I had roux-n-y and hiatal hernia fix with my highest weight at 299. I had intense pain in my epigastreum especially when I ate for an entire month right after the surgery and lost 40lbs till my doctor did a upper GI swallow study which showed a Mesocolic stricture. He fixed the stricture and did a cholecystectomy which was full of small stones then nearly everything was perfect. I have had increasing pelvic pain every month and the occasional painful stomach again when I eat. I also have developed orthostatic hypotension which I practically had to beg to be put on something and am now on fludrocortisone and have nearly no symptoms of I take it every day. The most current problem and the one worrying me is that a month ago I had some awful bronchitis with hypoxia then put on steroids for a week which cleared it all up but since then I have been having again the intense epigastric pain that waxes and wanes but especially bad whenever I try to eat. I have had two ct chest/abd which only showed an ovarian cyst then the rupture of the ovarian cyst, a normal endoscopy of my pouch, another upper GI which was normal, a UA which showed that I was dehydrated and had ketones, and my blood work showed elevated chlorine, high absolute lymphocytes, high absolute monocytes, low total protein and low albumin. My surgeon admitted me to the hospital for four days and they were only able to finally document the postparandial hypoglycemia that I had been telling him about. Neither of us want to do surgery again but he says that if I continue to lose so much weight so quickly (I lost 7% of my body right in three weeks) then he will go in and put in a g tube. I am barely a year out and I would very much like to avoid a g tube so if anyone has any ideas about what this may be I would really appreciate it!

I'm a year and one month out and I do regret it sometimes. I went from a 19yr old with the only health issue being overweight to a 20yr old with postparandial hypoglycemia, orthostatic hypotension, left ulnar nerve pain (due to a Mesocolic stricture where I lost 40lbs in the first month after surgery), malabsorption (of iron, vit D, vit B12, and potassium), and currently am going through intense epigastric pain with normal testing and have again lost so much weight that my surgeon is threatening a g-tube.

I am a year and one month out and often have constipation for several days at a time no matter what I take and despite taking all the recomended vitamins along with probiotics and have my food journal checked to make sure I'm eating all the right things but I still become deficient in vitamin D, vitamin B12, potassium, and iron.

I'm probably not the best reference and am particularly pessimistic lately. To be honest I do sometime regret have the roux-n-y. I have had so many complications that it just wears me down. I had a Mesocolic stricture immediately which wasn't diagnosed and fixed till a month later when I had lost 40lbs from not being able to eat. The doctors say that I lost too much weight to quickly so now I have intense nerve pain down my ulnar nerve (better on gabapentin though). I now have postparandial hypoglycemia, orthostatic hypotension (mostly better with fludrocortisone), and for the past month has had a 7% weight loss and intense epigastric pain with normal testing and am being threatened with a g- tube placement. A little over a year ago I was an overweight nineteen year old but with no health problems at all and now I'm only twenty years old with a bunch and it gets so tiring.
