    Quick poll

I happen to be a therapist. Group vs individual really depends on the goals you need help with. If you just need support through the process then group. If you need help in changing thoughts beliefs and behaviors then individual. It would be best if the therapist had training in Cognitive Behavioral tTherapy CBT. This is most effective in establishing long term behavior change.

    Am I losing too quickly?

I started at 315 lbs pre op. I'm down 50 lbs. from 2/23 surgery. I looked at BMR and still struggle to get 1000 calories. I have not started much exercise yet. Sounds like you are doing great!
  8. I have heard about others doing a "pouch reset". Google or search it as a restart. But honestly unless you deal with what's happening mentally and your food choices it's going to be difficult. My best advice is to go to your nutritionist or surgeons office to get referrals for support group and or bariatric specialist therapist. Don't give up. You can't give up. You've made this life changing choice. There are going to be setbacks. But you have to have a mind reset as well. To get back on the right track. I truly wish you all the luck and strength encourage you need to follow the regimen. You had the courage to actually take the steps to do the surgery. So clearly you have bravery encourage in you. Somewhere it got pushed into the background. Time to have somebody help you bring it back to the forefront and take back control.
  9. I'm three weeks postop and cleared to try purée/soft food. Ideas of where to start? I'm almost afraid to eat anything.

Weight Loss Stall at 2 weeks Post-op

I stalled for two weeks. I chalked up the first week to my period. Then got a little frustrated that I didn't start to lose again. Just started to lose again during soft food stage but made big effort to increase h2o. I don't know if it's the water that did the trick or it was just time that my body adjusted. It's all a mystery.

    Struggling to get in protein.

My nut allows one cup of coffee per day. I add half of a premier vanilla shake and it tastes just like coffee mate vanilla creamer. There , 15 g of protein in the morning coffee.

    Protein pill ?

Try isopure protein water from GNC. 40 G protein and 20 oz water in one shot. Easy to go down. Some flavors are yuck. I liked grape best. Taste like a melted Popsicle.

    Hydration issues

Dehydration is no joke. 10 days postop I was very dehydrated. Went to my doctor and requested IV fluids. Bounced back immediately and felt great. Now with a new reset on my hydration I am better able to get in my 64+ ounces. Don't be afraid to ask for the IV fluids if your dehydrated. I was getting dizzy and having muscle cramps and so fatigued that I needed to nap after taking a shower or climbing a set of stairs. No exaggeration. I was lucky she was able to do it right there in the office. But it would have been worth it trip to the ER just to get those fluids. It has made a complete world of difference in my ability to function. And now I'm just keeping up instead of catching up with my fluids.

    Protein drinks

I'm 2+ weeks postop. I tried going back to premier postop and couldn't tolerate getting the shakedown. Love them preop as well. I've switched to iso-pure protein water from GNC. 40 g protein 20 ounce fluid taste like Gatorade with a little kick. That's what I'm surviving on right now. Should be able to do puréed food but can't. Just trying being patient with the process. I did have hot skim milk with a little instant coffee. First coffee in several weeks. It was glorious.
  19. Has anybody tried unflavored protein powder in a flavored water? Does it become thick? I'm struggling to get my protein in. The thickness of the regular protein shakes is too much. Need help. Feeling very weak and fatigued. I am two weeks post op. Does anybody know of a protein powder that dissolves completely? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hunger Pains after Eating??

I was sleeved to 2/23. I have the same sensation. I'm not sure it's real hunger pains as opposed to a lot of gurgling going on in my stomach. I read on the site about lots of loud digestion that goes on for a while. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Water?

Every day it gets easier. Try some hot chicken broth. I'm one week post and feeling pretty good . Every day noticeable advance in being able to drink. Chicken broth in a mug helped. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. I'm one week post op and it was a tough week but every day made progress. I feel pretty good now and I'm down 30 lb between pre op diet and this week. Best advice is get your a## up right away in the recovery room to pee and keep doing it while the pain meds are still on the drip. Moving and sitting alleviated a lot of gas pain and you don't realize how full your bladder is and that relieves discomfort as well. Just keep repeating to yourself that it is a process and you have to go through every step. I ate a lot of ice chips and kept going to the bathroom throughout my 2 day stay.
