  1. I totally agree with XYZ. Get to the 170 then see what you can do. Don't ever be discouraged or let folks set limits on you. Sometimes you know what you're capable of. I wouldn't be fixed on a certain number . A healthy BMI range is probably realistic.

    Help!

Try warm chicken broth. I know it sounds just awful. But those first few days postop it was a lifesaver. Having it hot or warm forces you to sip.

    Coffee?

I love my coffee. As long as you don't get dehydrated I don't see there should be a problem. I drink 2 cups of coffee every morning with half a Premier protein vanilla shake as the creamer. Taste just as good as coffee mate.It is my breakfast . I get my 30 g of protein right off the bat every morning holds me until the lunch . Right after my coffee and protein I drink 30 ounces of water all before lunch. On occasion I have a cup of coffee at a different time during the day and always use the Premier protein shake as the creamer for the extra protein.Has worked out wonderfully for me. I've lost 86 pounds since March 1.

    Home alone?

Just have a friend or neighbor on stand by just in case. Every one heals differently. I could not do stairs easily or bend. I was also dizzy . Almost fell in shower. I would not go down stairs or shower without someone in the house with me.
  5. Could be your gall bladder. They can act up after vsg. Call the dr. Better safe than sorry.

When Can I Start Eating Bread?

Just so you know. That statement that I can't tolerate bread comes from someone that ate a ny bagel with cream cheese almost every single day of my life for breakfast. So I totally get wanting that pb&j.

When Can I Start Eating Bread?

I can't tolerate bread. I can have a few crackers to satisfy that craving. Try peanutbutter on a thin sliced apple. It may satisfy that craving.
  9. I was on clear liquid for two weeks post op. I lived on propel water and chicken broth. Organic from Trader Joe's. My pouch liked the warm broth. Water room temp. Sometimes cold doesn't feel good. A good book, magazines and remote control. You just got to ride out those first two weeks. I couldn't tolerate protein shakes or powder. I used isopure from gnc. Grape and lemonade are best. Must dilute because they are sweet and tart! I could only manage water like consistency for first several weeks. Good luck. 5 months out 85lbs down[emoji3]

    Dizzy and tired

You've got to figure out what your body needs at each stage. When I wasn't getting in my protein my weight loss DONALD. The minute I was able to increase my protein and my water intake I started to lose. And felt so much better. It was a real process of trial and error. You must have patience with the process. It is well worth it. I had my surgery on February 23. And today I've lost 85 lbs. there are still things that I can't eat. And by that I mean my body just won't tolerate. I found a regimen that works for me for now. Also trial and error. Hearing what other people have tried and really paying close attention to my body and how it Tolerates and I just has gotten me this far.

    Dizzy and tired

I too struggled getting in protein the first several weeks. I could not tolerate the shakes. I started using I so pure from GNC. They are clear liquid consistency of water. Some flavors are better than others. But the really not so great. They were a lifesaver during that time however. I diluted them in water they tasted like a melted popsicle. Sweet and tart. They had 40 g of protein per bottle. They're a little pricey at about four dollars each. But it was well worth it. Got me through the first several weeks. You also may be getting dehydrated. I got IV fluids at week 2 which really helped with the dizziness and muscle cramping. You got to stay healthy. I gave up the ice up your drinks at about a three week or one month mark and was able to switch back over to protein shakes Premier protein. I diluted the vanilla Premier protein with my morning coffee and still do that to this day.

I have two Premier protein shakes a day that gives me 60 g of protein. The rest comes from meat , fish and cheese as part of my meals. I have a vanilla Premier protein every morning with my 2 cups of coffee. I use it as a creamer.then a shake late afternoon when I get the munchy cravings usually chocolate. The vanilla shake as a creamer works really well for me. I have my 2 cups of coffee with shake then I drink about 30 ounces of water. All before lunch. Lunch is usually pretty small because I'm at work . Cheese and crackers or turkey cold cuts rolled up. Late afternoon chocolate shake. Dinner 3 ounces of fish or meat and a few bites of whatever side dish I make for my family. That's pretty much it. It's working well.
  15. In the past under stress I would over eat. Now post surgery under stress I'm not getting in on my nutrition. Go figure. What a ride this is.
  16. You are so inspiring!! Surgery date February 23. HW 315 SW 298 CW 238 We have similar stats. I could use a buddy. How are you managing now? I agree every day is a struggle. Would like to hear more about it if you're willing to share.

Hi Staten Island here. Sleeved 2/23/17. Nyu . HW 315 SW 298 CW 239 Emblem health - HIP. 6 months dr visits. NYU was great. Need to start exercising. Keep protein high 75+, carbs low30, fat low30-40. Melting away. Feel full easily. I know I have to start moving. I hate exercising. Got to find something I like.
  18. SleevedinSI

    Carbs

Keep carb under 30 and weight flies off. That's the point right? I'm 3.5 months out. Lost 75#. Kept carbs under 30 every day. Protein 75+, fat under 30. Not too much exercise yet. But trying to increase.
  19. Goal should be hydration only . you have the fat stored for your calories. Your body will burn that. Don't get dehydrated. I ended up getting IV at day 14. Which was a god send I felt 1000x better after that.
  20. My only hesitancy is if you want kids. I would carefully check about safety of pregnancy after surgery.

    Fasting in Ramadan tips

I completed the first day fast. It has been a terrible mistake. I was only able to have on protein shake, a few crackers and water. I got terrible chills and diarrhea. My system is so screwed up today I've been in bed. Not able to fast.

    Fasting in Ramadan tips

I am 3 months out and facing the same problem. At this stage I struggle to get on enough fluid. But I disagree with some of the posts. Wouldn't you break your fast with liquid protein shakes because they "pass" through easier and give you most of your protein. Then focus on water. Then a solid protein?
  24. I rode my sons bike today at the park. I have not been able to ride a bike due to obesity for over 20 years!!! Looking forward to more 'firsts in a long time.' What are some of your 'first times in a long time??'
