I Would not chance the sleeve if u have acid reflux or gerd. Many, many oeopke have to get a revision after the sleeve due to horrible reflux. Hes what my surgeon saud to me bc I also have had gerd for years. He said," about 1/3 of sleeve patients I see end up having reflux, however what Im seeing more and moreIs a much later down the line many get horrendous reflux daily and I end up doing a revision, bypass. I undetstand, im have had a chronic cough for years also. Do ypu have acid reflux? I have bee. To all types of doctor and all types of meds from acod reflux meds to asthma, meds, inhalers and nothing helps. I cough for,a few months non stop then it will go away for a couple months,then come back. There is no rhime or reason for it. Oh also, morning are really bad. @Monasmle: I agree with you. Why chance the sleeve, and then possibly have horrendous reflux only to have to go through a revision to bypass. No thank you, bypass for me. Also, one person here said that more SLEEVES are being done these days. Well that may be true, I dont know for sure, but if that is true it may be because bc the sleeve is easier, faster and the surgeon still makes the big bucks. I also have refluxmy surgeon said" what I am seeing is 1/3 of patients will have reflux after the sleeve, however MANY people 4, 5 months after the sleeve procedure are having horrible reflux daily, and want,a revision to bypass". Thats i meantioned keeping busy as best,as u can. How about a good book, scrapbooking, how about a lot of " before pics"? If you were thinking diet meds, thats not the answer. You've got this!!! You gotta make this change and change your thinking or this,will not be successful. I would find a support group in your area,ASAP and,a therapist. I think that would help tremendously You can seriously harm your self by eating whatever you want.!!! Start thinking of the reasons why you had surgery. Its only a few weeks, you can and must do this for yourself. Pull the big girl panties up!!!! Think of the long term benifits. Also try and keep busy.
